CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

The empty room resonated with the sound of the slap Conor threw across June's face.

"You careless little thing! I warned you to be careful," he spat.

"I'm sorry," June stuttered. "I didn't want this to happen. I swear i-"

"Save your chitchats for someone who cares," he said, placing his hands around her neck. "I warned you. I even paid for your trip to Ireland so you could keep an eye on her and in return?"

"I'm sor...sorry," June managed to say, choking as a result of Conor's strangling. He let go of her, pushing her to the floor. 

June rubbed her neck as she kept on coughing. She tried to cover her mouth knowing the sound of her cough would only anger Conor more. 

"I'm sorry. I'll try my best to fix this" she continued. "I'll do anything you ask me to."
