CHAPTER 50: ISABELLA

ALPHA XAVIER'S POV 

I stared at Reah who was still sleeping peacefully on the bed. Her lips had a small smile that confused me and warmed my heart somehow. 

Reah was an enemy. Without a doubt, she was the little girl who tried to kill me back then and the main reason I could no longer find Mina. Knowing that I had always promised myself to kill whoever caused that fire if I ever met her again, only for me to meet that culprit and be helpless, I felt very frustrated. 

I was supposed to kill Reah, I was supposed to torture her and make her feel the pain I felt with Mina that day but... Mere seeing her in pain made my heart ache so much that it was usually hard to breathe. 

She owed me the debt of life which I was supposed to take from her but the thought of killing her alone made me feel miserable. 

I felt guilty. So guilty that I stopped searching for Mina because I knew more than anyone else that I didn't deserve her anymore. The fact that the culprit was living in my home as my wife made me feel so disgusted and frustrated. 

"I don't understand what the moon goddess is doing," Louis mumbled, he was the one driving me to the office. "How could she make the culprit your mate and you even mistakenly marked her?" 

I had my fingers on my chin as I nodded dejectedly. "I had no idea back then but even after I found out, I was helpless. I found it hard to even hurt her." I explained. 

"Maybe she used something on you? You said she is Wizard Milla's daughter. Maybe she is a witch too and she used a spell on you?" Louis pointed out and I sneered. 

"Are you really asking me that?" I raised a brow as I stared at him. 

Louis shook his head and smiled bitterly "Spells don't work on you," He mumbled and I rolled my eyes. "What's more shocking is the fact that she can touch you without you feeling repulsive. No lady has ever been able to touch you since that incident. She's not only able to touch you, you even get horny at the mere sight of her, this is strange," He mumbled, he was confused too. 

I let out a deep breath and waved my hands dismissively "Let's just forget about her for now. I want to believe that the reason I can't hurt her is because of the pregnancy. I will make her pay when she gives birth," I replied. 

"I don't think that's the case though..."

"Shut up, Louis!" 

"Okay, Boss!" 

We drove to the office in silence and the car soon stopped. I opened the door and climbed down. "Alpha," Louis called just as I was about to leave. "You can't reject her or hurt her because you are falling for her. Don't deny it anymore, Friend," He said and drove away immediately. 

I watched him leave with my hands clenched "You should have stayed a second longer," I told him through the mind link. 

"I don't want to die yet, Alpha," Louis replied and I sneered. 

"I mustn't see you for like a year," I muttered before entering my company. 

The day was boring, Fryster had to go on a trip and wasn't back yet so I had to do most work alone as I didn't trust many people. 

"Come in," My eyes twitched as I replied to the knock coming from the door. Fryster was back. 

He entered and bowed "Alpha, This is the report from the meeting," He said as he opened his bag and handed me some files. 

"You sent some last night," I replied, opening the files and ready to start reading. 

"Yes, that was the summary. I decided to let you see everything before we commence," He replied and I nodded. 

I spent a few minutes glancing through the files before I closed it "Okay. You can leave for the meeting in Canada tomorrow," I told him and opened my laptop to record some things. 

"Alpha, where is Reah?" A question from Fryster made me raise a brow. 

"Reah?" I asked. "Why are you asking of her?"

"I heard she wasn't in the office yesterday and I didn't see her there when coming in just now too. I even tried calling her yesterday but her line wasn't going through," He explained. 

A strange feeling brewed up in my heart when I heard that and a frown formed on my face "She's fired," I replied. 

"Why? Did she do something..."

"Shut up and get out!" I ordered, my eyes glowing. 

Fryster was shocked. He immediately bowed and left my office. I watched him close the door and my eyes twitched. What was that? Why was I so angry?

I let out a deep breath and closed the laptop. I was no longer in the mood to work so I stood up and walked toward the window for some fresh air. It suddenly became so stuffy that I removed my tie and loosen two buttons for air despite the cold in the room. 

A knock on the door made me growl and I frowned "Come in!" My tone wasn't nice at all. 

The door opened, revealing Beta Mathew who seemed very troubled. "Alpha, there is something I need to report," He told me. 

I pocketed my hands and turned to face him. "What's it?" My anger was slowly dissipating but the expression on his face still annoyed me a little. 

Mathew lowered his eyes a little, this was the first time I saw him hesitating on something and it got me a little curious "I received a call this morning from one of our informants. There was a report of a lady that entered the country last month, she claimed to be searching for someone she met when she was younger so I asked a few men to watch her..." Beta Mathew paused and raised his head. He seemed to have resolved everything that was troubling him. 

"Yesterday, we heard her talking to someone about the person she was searching for. According to her, the person's name was Andy whom she saved from a fire a few years back. She mentioned the place the fire took place, she drew the face of the person she saved..." Mathew walked forward and showed me the drawing on his phone. 

I was so shocked that I jerked backwards. Without a doubt, the person in the drawing was a younger version of myself!

"What did she call her name?" I asked, my voice was a bit hoarse. 

"She said she is Isabella," She replied and my eyes twitched. "But we were 90% certain she is the one we've been searching for," Mathew added and my chest tightened. 

Mina had been found!
