Are you pregnant?

Skyla's pov

Immediately I stepped into the house, Jason was in the living room, his arms around Eluan who was smiling smugly.

Trying to avoid trouble, I just turned away and wanted to head upstairs.

“Are you blind, Skyla?” Jason's voice thundered from where he was sitting.

“She's pretending not to see you Jason. Her character and manners are so bad. Yesterday, she poured drink all over me at the club”. Eluan reported like a newscaster.

My heart pounded frantically against my ribs and I struggled to remain composed. Jason's face instantly changed like the weather.

“What club?”

“Sapphire club and suites. She said you were coming to meet her” Eluan continued without pausing for a breath.

Jason's face darkened. “What did you go to that bar for?” He growled dangerously, set down his glass of wine and strode towards me.

My breath hitched and I backed away, afraid he might hit me. But my burning anger made me bold.

“I went there for a drink. What happened?” I replied.

“Then why'd you lie to Eluan?”

“What I did there was none of her business” I replied again, my breath coming out in bursts.

He raised his hand like he wanted to hit me but smiled a little and put down his hand.

“You've gotten some nerve Skyla. I heard you went to see my father, protesting about the open marriage”

I swallowed hard and nodded a little. “You know we're married Jason. I gave up everything I had to you..”

“Shut your filthy mouth” he raged. “You think I didn't know about your little affair with Paul? You think I don't know how he fucked you under my roof while I suffered?”

“I didn't do anything with Paul, Jason.”

“I saw her with a guy in the club yesterday” Eluan cut in with a smile, feeling proud of herself.

My heart skipped a beat and I struggled to keep my breath under control.

Jason turned to Eluan with a soft expression. “Tell me everything you saw sweetie. Did she fuck him?”

“I think so”

Jason laughed, turned back swiftly and landed a slap across my face. I shrieked and fell to the floor.

He didn't stop and continued kicking and slapping me. “Don't you ever think of fucking another guy you filthy whore!” He shouted as he beat me up.

I curled up in the corner as his blows rained down on me. My body soon grew numb to the pain and I felt myself fainting.

But just then he stopped, breathing heavily.

“Bitch!” He spat on me and went upstairs with the giggling Eluan.

Maria came to me with some ice, which was our normal ritual.

“Thank you” I softly said in a cracked voice and let her lead me to my room.

“Call me anytime you need me” she assured and went back to her duties.

I laid down on the bed and couldn't help reminiscing about the previous night with that stranger. Although the lights were dim, the outline of his face I saw– he didn't look like a gigolo.

“Whatever” I sighed gently and allowed myself to fall asleep because that guy didn't give me a moment of rest throughout the entire night.

From that day, I did my best not to offend Jason and stayed locked up in the house everyday.

“What's today's date Maria?” I asked one day as she served me breakfast.

“13th of July. Is everything okay ma'am?”

My stomach crunched and turned and I felt like vomiting immediately I set my eyes on the eggs she served.

“Ma'am?”

I retched and quickly ran to the toilet where I vomited violently. My head felt like a nail was being hammered into it. I slumped to the floor in disbelief, still holding the toilet seat without realizing it.

“13th of July” I muttered to myself and clutched my stomach tightly. “It was supposed to come 20th of June”

No.. no that's absolutely impossible. I'm just being paranoid, how can I entertain such thoughts.

“She went to use the toilet!” I suddenly heard Maria arguing with someone and a sounding slap followed.

The toilet door bursted open and Fiona marched in with Grace. They looked down at me on the floor with distain, and Grace eyes landed on toilet.

“Are you pregnant?” Grace asked and walked closer to me. I gripped the toilet tighter.

"No- I'm not.. just I didn't like what Maria prepared" I lied In-between my teeth.

"But your cheeks are flushed" Fiona cut in pointing at my face.

"it caused indigestion" Maria who was standing close by replied.

"I didn't ask you"

I quickly stood up but a wave of dizziness hit me hand and I quickly grabbed Fiona to steady myself from falling.

Her clothes tore with a sharp rip and I quickly let go.

"you idiot! you tore my clothes! can you afford to compensate?" she yelled on the top of her voice, pointing a long finger at my face.

"I'm sorry" I replied in a tiny voice, bowing my head.

"Of course you must be! this is a limited edition Louis Vuitton, only two in the world! can you afford to compensate?"

Maria cleared her throat suspiciously with a small laugh and I almost burst out laughing too.

"what is funny both of you?" Fiona screamed, swinging her bag at me, but I quickly dodged to the side.

"What's going on here?" Jason's voice suddenly came from the doorway. Fiona immediately put on a pitiful face and ran into his arms.

"She attacked me and tore my limited edition cloth Jason." she cried.

"Is that the way you treat guests? attacking them like a wild animal?"

"It was a mistake I didn't mean to tear her cloth"

"You're a walking mistake Skyla!" he insulted me and walked away with his snickering siblings.

"I think you're pregnant miss" Maria whispered to me as she cleared away the food.

I still shook my head in disbelief, my heart racing with anxiety. Suddenly, my phone pinged with a text.

"I know everything Skyla" it read and my heart paused.
