I headed straight to the Lawrence mansion. But on getting to the towering gates, i felt my confidence fading. Taking a deep breath, i headed in trying not to look too scared on the surface.

Unfortunately, the first person I came across at the door was Fiona. I quickly turned around and tried to follow another route but she had seen me already.

She yelled like i was her age mate. Taking a deep breath, i clenched my fist, put on a fake smile and turned back like i was surprised and pleased to see her.

“Ohh Fiona.! A good day, really pleased to see you.! I greeted with fake enthusiasm.

She scoffed “pleased to see me.? The last time i checked, we weren't best of friends and you were trying to avoid me just now right.? She accused mockingly with an annoying smirk on her bright red lips.

I smiled like i wasn't offended, but inside, i was boiling with rage. “Fiona, i…

Someone's voice suddenly came from behind and i sighed in relief. It was Grace, Jason's older sister. Fiona was Jason's half sister from another mother but same father. But Grace was Jason's real sister. Same mother and father.

I won't want to think about it but, Jason and Fiona had twisted feelings for each other and had an affair sometime back before he got married to me. When he abandoned her and got married to me, she was furious and swore to become a thorn in my flesh.

" Skyla.! it's nice having you around after such a long time. Where's Jason.? Grace asked cheerfully… or rather false cheer because I know none of them in the family liked me. But Jason was head strong on marrying me, so they had to pretend they did like me.

“Jason.. he's at the company…

“Then what are you doing here.? Fiona rudely cut in.

" I came to see pa.. i mumbled.

“Pa is having his rest. You can leave now" Fiona continued with her rude tone and this time, Grace didn't stop her, knowing Jason wasn't around me to stop them from attacking.

I stood transfixed, looking at Grace for help. But she just turned her face away and continued chewing the gum in her mouth noisily.

“I'm sorry but.. what i came for is really important. Please can you tell me where he's.? I pleaded again.

" You heard Fiona…. Grace began to say

But she cut her short and gave her a look. “Pa is inside his study." She said.

“Thank you." I greeted and hurried away, feeling their piercing looks behind me.

I got to the study and gently knocked. “Come in" pa lawrence croaked from inside. Before I went in, the corner of my eyes caught Grace and Fiona hovering around, but i didn't mind them.

“Good day pa." I greeted respectfully, bowing slightly. He grunted and looked up, adjusting his crooked glasses.

“Oh Skyla.! Why have you come without my son.? He asked after looking up briefly from his desk.

" Pa, the reason I came here is because of Jason. He dared to suggest an open marriage. Please pa, help me to talk to him” i said softly, pleading.

He just gave a mocking deep throat laugh. " Open marriage.? What's that.?

“It means he can flirt with other girls without me raising an objection." I replied looking up at him like he is foolish.

" So.? What happened to an open marriage.? He asked like it was a normal stuff. My heart sank. “But pa he's married to me, that's cheating.! I protested feeling wronged.

" Jason is a man and free to make whatever decisions he likes. If you aren't comfortable with the open marriage, you're free to file for divorce.” He replied nonchalantly and swiveled his chair to face the opposite direction, indirectly telling me "this discussion is over."

I felt tears gather in the corner of my eyes but didn't fall due to anger. I gritted my teeth and stormed out of the study with shaky breath.

I hurried down the flight of stairs and tried to flee the mansion quickly. But i was accosted by Fiona and Grace at the doorway.

“What Skyla.! Why are you crying.?! Grace asked in a loud voice, faking surprise.

I sniffed and used the cuff of my sleeve to quickly wipe my eyes. " I'm not crying.” I rebuffed and tried stepping to the side but Fiona blocked me.

" I heard Jason suggested an open marriage to you. Is that true.? She asked lowering her voice as if in a conspiracy.

“That's not true.! I gently fired back.

" But… pa said so, have you started lying or pa is the one lying.?" Fiona pushed further and my rage exploded.

“Just get out of my way and let me be. If Jason wants an open marriage, that's his business" i fired back and tried to move again.

“So it's true.? Grace asked.

I took a deep breath and nodded subtly.

They bursted into a roaring and mocking laughter. " "I knew this marriage wasn't going to last. Is it even up to three years.? Fiona asked Grace mockingly.

“No way.! Just two years and half of "happy married life” Grace replied and they roared in laughter again.

A sharp pain tore through my heart and i struggled to contain my anger and tears. " Just let me go.” I mumbled and pushed them away, this time they didn't stop me.

" Don't forget I'm a lawyer, you can come to me to handle your divorce.! Grace shouted after me.

I hurried to my car and slammed the door shut. I tried to cry but the tears stubbornly refused to flow.

In rage, i slammed my fist on the steering repeatedly and then my head too.

I remained in that state for minutes before I came back to my senses. This time, my mind was already made up. I'll take my revenge.
