I want you to protect me!

Luca reached the coffee shop where Eliana worked till the afternoon. He talked with the owner of the restaurant first who called Eliana there. Eliana took off the apron and went inside the office of the owner of the café shop. Seeing Eliana there, Luca stood up from his seat and greeted her.

“Eliana, this is Mr. Luca Romano, the Executive Secretary of the CEO of the Sapphire Group,” the owner introduced them. Eliana greeted him and they sat on the sofa.

“Miss Russo, you have applied for the job of an assistant in our company so, regarding that the CEO wanted to meet you,” Luca told to Eliana who drew her brows her together.

“But I did not apply for that. It is like…” she could not complete her words as Luca stopped her in the middle. “Miss Russo, that will be decided in the Company. Please follow me out,” Luca asserted. Eliana could not refuse to that and followed Luca but before leaving she took the satchel with her.

Luca opened the car’s door for Eliana and told her to get in. Eliana got into the car. Luca closed the door and went towards the front passenger seat. The driver started the car and drove away.

Eliana was nervous thinking why would a CEO call for her. She looked at Luca and said, “Excuse me, Sir.” Luca tilted his head and looked at her.

“Yes, Miss Russo.”

“Why am I being called by the CEO? I did not apply for any assistant post in your company. It was my brother who did that,” Eliana pronounced.

Luca blinked his eyes for a few seconds and then said, “Miss Russo, that was quite a serious matter. I would not like to give any statement on this as the CEO will himself converse with you regarding this matter.” He turned to the front while Eliana got anxious thinking what her brother might have done.

Soon they reached the company. Eliana was enchanted to see such a bit company in front of her. She was trying to see the highest floor of the company when she heard Luca, “Miss Russo, please this way.” Eliana put her head down and nodded.

Getting out of the elevator, Luca took Eliana to the CEO’s office. The topmost floor was for the CEO only. She saw how the Executive Secretarial department was in rush for a particular matter. It was a dream for people like her to work in such a place. Soon they reached outside the office of the CEO.

Luca pushed the door lightly and walked in. Eliana too walked behind him and the door was closed. Eliana looked around the office which was so big that one could live with his/her family there. The giant skyscrapers was visible from the ceiling to floor windows. “So, it is what a CEO’s office looks like!” Eliana thought.

“Sir, Miss Russo is here,” Luca informed Augustus who was on the swivel chair but it’s back was facing them. 

“Leave.” A deep, heavy voice was heard by Eliana and she shifted her gaze towards the swivel chair. Luca turned and left from there. As soon as he left, Augustus moved his swivel chair such that he was now facing Eliana who was shocked to see him but she kept her call.

Augustus clasped his fingers together and rested his hands on the desk with glass base. He kept staring at her. Eliana was getting irritated because of the way he was looking at her so he finally spoke, “What are you staring at?”

Augustus chuckled because of the way Eliana talked to him. “Miss Russo, I was just trying to find out how could a brainy and innocent woman like you did a thing like this,” Augustus proclaimed. “Last night you were saying that you do not know me and in the morning I found out that you have applied for my company. I am kind of confused,” he added and smirked.

“That was not me. It was my brother who did this. Sorry for the inconvenience he has caused to you. I shall leave then,” Eliana stated and turned to go when Augustus stopped her.

He stood up from the swivel chair and walked towards Eliana who turned back. “I am not over yet. It does not matter if you have done this or your brother has done this. There is your name in the application form so you are the one who did this. Forgiveness is not the answer because this is the first time someone tried playing with the system and that’s you!” Augustus astonishingly said.

Eliana could not get how this could be a serious matter. “Does your company do not have any other work to do? You should be taking the interviews of those candidates who are here for the assistant position rather than arguing on this,” asserted Eliana.

“Miss Russo, I have much work to do and why do I need to take the interviews? You are hired as an assistant,” Augustus pronounced. Eliana was shocked to hear that.

“Pardon me?”

“You are hired as an Assistant in Sapphire Group.” Augustus was grinning at her.

“I am afraid but I am not working here,” Eliana said when her phone started ringing. She took it out of her pocket and answered the call. “Sorry, sir. I am coming in a while,” Eliana stated. Her afternoon shift had started in the restaurant and she had to leave for that. She was putting the phone in her pocket when Augustus snatched it.

“You need my number and yes, you are not allowed to work anywhere,” Augustus proclaimed as he typed his number in the phone and saved it. Eliana tried snatching it from him but he did not let her take it.

He then handed the phone to her. “I am not going to work here. If you tried anything like this again, I will report you to the police,” Eliana threatened him.

Augustus ended up laughing upon hearing those words. Controlling his laughs he said, “I saved you getting arrested to the police. The panel wants me to sue you for playing with the system but see what am I doing?! I am hiring you!” stated Augustus. “It is more like the position of an Assistant cum Bodyguard. I want you to protect me,” he then added.
