{Ciril’s POV}

“So tell me how you knew there would be a Steam lake back there when we were still in those tunnels?” Clord asked me now.

It was a new day and we had left that cave to go and search for something to eat since I was almost dying.

And now he quizzed me even though he knew I was tired and famished.

“And how were you so certain of where to go in those tunnels?” He asked me his second question when I didn’t respond to the question.

I had my hood on and a scarf over my mouth so that while I looked at him now, he only saw my eyes.

“I don’t know.” I responded. “It was more like a feeling I got.” I explained and he grew a slight frown.

“That means that you guessed.” He muttered. “You’re a hypocrite. You know that?” He said to me and I grew confused.

“Earlier yesterday when I guessed and landed us in that pond, you criticized me for almost killing us if I had guessed wrongly and landed us on rocks, but then you also did the same thing yesterday. You guessed when you ran throu

    {Ciril’s POV} Color returned to Landon’s skin. I was watching it happen but I didn’t believe it or understand it.He was supposed to be bleeding out, losing blood and dying, but instead of doing that, his blood was circulating through his body. And it looked more red than black-stained. It looked healthy— like the infection had been terminated. He was still motionless as he lay in the blood pool and I slowly rose to my feet in my confusion and alarm.I spat out blood from my mouth now— his loose shoulder bone had torn the insides of my mouth earlier when I had been wildly biting him in my outburst, so I spat out the blood from the wound now. I was shaky and in that manner, I started pacing towards him, slowly and quietly. I fancied that he was looking more alive now but none of this still made sense to me so I was more horrified and hesitant than reassured. With my timid steps, I soon hovered before him and stared with a shaky breath as I took in the sight of him on the dusty gro

  • CHOSEN   Chapter 222 ~ Color.

    {Ciril’s POV} Landon was cold. And I’m not talking about the cold one would feel on a rainy and windy night. I’m talking about a freezing type of cold where the skin feels like a rigid and firm stretch of plastic instead of the living wrap that ties our organs together. He was still in my arms and I was still stroking his skin but now, I was properly alarmed. I had been stroking his chest, his body for the past several minutes and it felt like all I had been doing was in vain.He wasn’t responding. My heat wasn’t getting into his body and the more the seconds ticked by, the more it felt like he was fading away. The blood he had been spitting out earlier was a result of the hints of the Feral blood still in his body. With the feelings of his heart towards me, he had set himself free from the Ferality but then bits of the infection that was still in his blood had been attacking his body— killing him from the inside while we had been journeying. I had been ignorant of it earlier and now

  • CHOSEN   Chapter 221 ~ Dying…

    {Ciril’s POV} After several minutes of limping and scowling, I got back to the Shelter.— the Shelter where I had left Landon in.I got in and was finally shielded from the heavy downpour. The rain had grown more aggressive, but I had persisted under it so that now that I was back inside the shelter, I felt angry at myself.I felt angry at myself because I had gone through all this strain and had come back all because of Landon.— I had done this, despite saying that I couldn’t and wouldn’t, so now, I was angry at myself because of that. I trailed over to where Landon was now with a scowl on my face, I felt like I hated him more now that it was clear that he was the reason I had returned. But hey, let’s not misunderstand things here. I’m only back here because I just want to be sure he’s breathing and still alive. He’s survival is not my fucking responsibility but because I don’t have a vile heart, checking to see if he’s alive was what I was going to do— and then I would leave..I

  • CHOSEN   Chapter 220 ~ Opposite Direction

    {Ciril’s POV} Landon collapsed before me suddenly. And before I could realize what was happening or even react, his body hit the ground. I tensed at the impact, and then I rushed to him and stopped before him, frozen because I was still confused on what was going on.“Landon?”“Landon?” I called again but didn’t get any response. The only response I got was his coughing out a thick volume of blood before his head tilted to the side. With that, I immediately made contact. I bent down and held his shoulder, avoiding touching the trails of his blood but holding him to be able to shake him up a little. “Landon!” I called a bit louder now as I shook his body, but then I got no response so that I tensed again. What’s going on?“Landon!” I called again whilst shaking him up— more intensely this time.Still nothing. I started to panic now.I shook him up some more and then I confusedly came to the conclusion that he was now unconscious.I didn’t know what made him unconscious so this wasn

  • CHOSEN   Chapter 219 ~ Landon?

    {Ciril’s POV} My fingers were clenched..My brows were caved in…My muscles were tense…I was rageful… but I didn’t move a muscle— I just glared. I glared at the man in front of me. Landon. He was on his knees and apart from him showing me tears, he had poured on me his words— words that I didn’t give a fuck about but words that still had an effect on me. I was panting, heaving in resentment for him but then that was all I continued to do as minutes passed by.I had wanted to kill him but then I didn’t know why I was becoming more hesitant by the minute, and soon, the clouds started to return to their normal color and the wind currents started to grow calm. I hated that all these were happening but I seemingly lacked control. I was also subconsciously calming down and in another few minutes, everything was back to normal. My raging eyes were all that remained as I still stood glaring at Landon who still had his head bowed to the ground. The air remained like that for another momen

  • CHOSEN   Chapter 218 ~ Why Should He Be Pardoned?

    {Ciril’s POV} So for this reason, I died… and I will never have life back without you in it…” Landon said as I turned to look at him. The air grew quiet. l didn’t say anything in the following moment because I was busy taking in his words. Landon also just stared, waiting for my response, looking like he craved to hear it……and after a moment of tense silence, I gave it to him.“I don’t care.”Yeah. That was my response.I grew back my scowl now. I had had a shocked expression some minutes ago but then I grew back my scowl and poured it on him.“You deserve to be dead— no no no. I want you dead.” I corrected myself as I stepped closer to him with slow and short steps. “I’ve been letting the thought remain dormant all this while because I don’t want to get worked up, but now we’ll address it— we’ll address it to the end.” I said with clenched fists and a new resolve. My anger was growing. “You’re on my murder list, Landon— in fact, you are one of the top people on the list, so just
