Chapter 6 - Lupus de Algerenéé

Laureffaine stirred awake as she could feel her face heat up. This was always the reaction she got from being approximately close to Xavier.

She slowly opened her eyes, wiping the sleep away with her hands, and all she could see was the dimly lit room.

"Wait, how did I get here?", She asked herself.

Her eyes finally met Xavier's. She internally smiled, knowing she was right, Xavier was with her. Even in her sleep, she would know if Xavier was with her or not.

"That was a long nap you took there", he teased..

"Shut up already Xavier", Laureffaine slapped his hand away from her face.

"Why do you keep calling it naps when you know very well the moment you close your eyes, it'd take hours for you to wake up."

Laureffaine shot him a glare. Xavier had always been like this with her, he'd tease her. Maybe this was what made them fall in love with each other.

But to Laureffaine, she'd never love another like how she love Xavier. He was her past, present and future.

Even when they had no future if he wasn't going to divorce his Luna.

But Laureffaine had promised herself that, not even the true mate bond would make her loose the love she shared with Xavier.

Nothing was going to come between her and Xavier, absolutely nothing, and certainly not the Rogue Alpha.

"What's the occasion?", She asked looking at the romantic candles Xavier had used to decorate her room.

"Nothing, just me celebrating my birthday with the woman I love. We've had so much on our hands that we completely forgot about the birthday and I never got the gift you purchased for me"

Laureffaine let out a soft sigh.

"I'm so sorry Xav", she apologized. She had been so caught in solving her own problems that she had even forgotten all about Xavier's birthday.

"That's why we are celebrating it tonight. No Rogues, No Rogue Alpha, no Pack, just you and me."

"What about the meeting with the council, did they leave already?", She asked, thinking she had missed it.

"They couldn't come Laure, they'll be here first thing tomorrow morning. Enough of the old people, it's just you and me tonight", he smiled as he picked her up and took her to her closet.

"Change into something exquisite, I'll be back", he blew her a kiss, then walked away.

Laureffaine settled for a sleeveless shiny black dress that reached her mid-thigh. She let her brown locks fall freely on her back as she sat by their dinner table.

Xavier had everything prepared in her room. She had to remind herself that she was his mistress and so they couldn't be out in the open.

"Sorry I kept you waiting, Kate-

Laureffaine held her hand up, signaling him to stop explaining. Everytime he explained, it reminded her she was a mistress, a woman snatching another woman's mate.

"I'm really sorry Laure", he apologized.

"I know it's not your fault but please don't remind me that I am just a mistress, not tonight Xav", she blinked away the tears.

She could be happy with a true fated mate but she still settled with Xavier as a mistress. Just because it was a wrong pairing on her side.

The Moon Goddess made a mistake when she paired her up with a Rogue Alpha.

"It's going to be just us tonight okay", Xavier promised.

He took her hand, guided her steps as they danced. He didn't like it when Laureffaine was sad but he just couldn't divorce Kate. Her father was one of the council elders, it was good for his reputation.

Leading Laureffaine on wasn't a very good idea but he was selfish and didn't want her to leave him.

And now that her fated mate was here, she wouldn't think twice before leaving him if she knew he was just leading her on.

He twirled her around and her soft giggles reached his ears, bringing a smile to his face. This was really what he lived for. He hugged her to his body.

"I love you Laure, with all my being and the Moon Goddess as witness", he kissed her forehead.

"I love you too Xav", she whispered the last part into his chest.

He guided her to her seat as they sat down to eat. Living in the moment, laughing at their own silly jokes. The night reminding them of the great love they shared.

To Laureffaine, Kate could try to keep Xavier from her, but she knew that Xavier would always come back to her.

They lived in the moment of their love, their own pretty little world as they watched the night fade away. And they fell asleep in each other's arms, falling in love all over again.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Laureffaine covered her eyes from the sunlight seeping into her room through the window. She moved her left hand to the left side of the bed, moving it in a circular motion at that particular spot.

"Are you looking for something Miss Laureffaine?, Perhaps your phone?", Lauren asked as she started searching for Laureffaine's phone herself.

"Aaah, y....e..e....s", Laureffaine replied sounding unsure.

She didn't really know Lauren was in her room.

She was actually checking to see if Xavier was already gone. And to her disappointment, he was long gone, his spot was already cold.

"Here you go miss"

"Huh?", Laureffaine's voice was starting to sound as if she was annoyed.

"Your phone?", Lauren passed it to her and she offered a polite smile. Even though the smile didn't really reach her eyes.

"I just finished drawing you a bath, I'll be back later to clean your room", Lauren returned Laureffaine's smile.

She was still oblivious to the fact that the young woman was in a sour mood. She quickly excused herself, leaving Laureffaine to her morning duties.

Laureffaine's phone dinged, notifying her of a message. A look at the message and her eyes were big like saucers.

"Be in the meeting hall in 15 minutes, the council will be here in half an hour", it read.

The message was from Xavier. She completely forgot about that too. Her week had turned out to be very hectic. Drama after drama. Only if she could just catch a break.

"Those weren't normal rogues Elder Senile, we believe they were rogues from Dead Groove", Xavier spat with anger as Laureffaine held his fist under the table, trying to keep his anger in check.

She knew how just the topic of the Rogue Alpha could get him highly upset. Even she didn't like it that these days everything about her revolved around the Rogue Alpha.

The Council didn't seem to believe it was the Rogue Alpha either. But from the way they behaved, even Laureffaine could sense their high taste of disgust for the Rogue Alpha.

"Lupus", Elder Senile snorted.

"He's just an abandoned lone wolf", he added.

"That doesn't seem like it to me, he has the rogues kissing his feet. Something none of us, not even the Alpha King can do. Rogues obey him, even mother nature acknowledges his Alpha power, so how is he a lone wolf?"

Laureffaine didn't know why she was defending his title before these council elders. Maybe it was just the mate pull making her talk silly.

"Xavier, make your warrior know her place. Even though her aura is strong and can be mistaken for an Alpha Female, I could kill her in a second for her disrespect", Elder Erasmus glared at Laureffaine.

Laureffaine didn't even bat an eye, but what got her pissed was Kate's smirk.

She just kept quiet since it was pretty obvious that Xavier wasn't going to defend her. Not even if she was his best friend.

The doors to the meeting hall busted opened. But instead of seeing the ruthlessness in the Rogue Alpha's eyes like their first meeting, he looked rather calm.

Laureffaine had to agree that she never saw someone that looked so good in Jeans and a Tee. She had to shake her head to clear her mind from lusting over him.

He smirked at Laureffaine, making her realize he caught her checking him out. And like always, she blamed it on her stupid wolf and the mate bond.

"Centuries of denying my roots, centuries after making me a Rogue and you old wolves dare to call me before you ", the Rogue Alpha's voice rose.

He appeared calm, but his voice made it evident that he was anything but calm. The council summoning him was a big sign of disrespect for him. The only reason he responded to their call was because of his mate.

He wanted to see her. She was the most stubborn she-wolf he'd ever seen. And he'd seen many considering how long he's been on earth. She was able to resist the mate pull.

It took someone with wild Alpha blood to be able to resist the mate pull. Or maybe, it was because she was his mate. Automatically, the moment he laid his eyes on her, he had transformed some of his genes to her.

"Calm down Lupus, we have every right to question your actions. We gave you Dead Groove."

"So that is his name", Laureffaine thought.

She had to admit his name complimented his personality. Even when she didn't know him, she thought his name was mysterious, just like to himself.

"Gave you say?", Lupus snorted stretching the first word.

"I'm no story teller to tell the story of the past, just get on with whatever you have to say because I don't have all day, he added arrogantly.

"Why did you attack The Blue Lake Creek Pack?", Elder Senile asked.

"That's absurd, I'd never attack this Pa-

"You threatened us, yes or no?", Laureffaine cut him off.

"Yes, I did", he replied.

"You told me you'd smear this Pack with blood", Laureffaine yelled, her anger getting the better of her.

"Yes, I did not", Lupus matched her anger.

She denying the bond they shared was never a problem to him. Who would love a Rogue Alpha?

This was the very question he asked himself everytime. But this?, She accusing him of something as lame as this, wasn't something he was going to be quiet about.

"You dare to deny it", Laureffaine looked at him unbelievably.

If he thought he was going to get away with hurting her Pack then he was really in for something big.

"Elder Senile, I have the note he sent me to threaten me, Laureffaine stood up ready to take the note from her jean pocket. She was wearing the same jean she wore yesterday, so she knew the note was still in her pocket.

"Oh yeah, I would love to see it", Lupus folded his arms.

Laureffaine searched her pockets but couldn't find the note anywhere.

"This isn't child's play Miss, you shouldn't accuse without proof", Elder Ferai scoffed.

"I swear I had it yesterday until-

"Until what?", Lupus asked.

"I teared it into pieces", Laureffaine bit on her lips.

"I think with you elders around, your aura could intimidate the rogues we captured and fish information out of them, Xavier reasoned.

"Sounds good and fair to me but they could lie ", Lupus made it clear.

"With the council's mad aura?", Xavier smirked.

"Trust me, I know the rogues better"

They all ignored him as they followed Xavier to the Pack Cells.

"You know the punishment for telling lies to the council", Elder Senile turned to Lupus as soon as they got to the Cells.

Lupus ignored the old man.

"Who ordered your massacre?", Elder Senile held the bars as he spoke, igniting flames on it. As ancient wolves, all elders had abilities.

"Her", they cried in pain as they pointed behind Xavier.

"Me?", Kate asked in shock.

"No, the other she-wolf"

Laureffaine stood shocked.

"It's a lie", Lupus growled, his growls shaking the grounds they stood.

"A complete Lie"
