Chapter 7 - Saved By Him

Lupus pushed Xavier out of his way. His veins popping out as he broke the cell door grabbing one of the rogues by the throat.

"Will you say the truth or I should end your worthless life right here", Lupus shook with rage.

The fire in his eyes burned. He was fighting the blood thirsty creature in him. How dare they accuse his mate.

"Let him go Lupus", Elder Senile commanded.

But he should have known better with Lupus. He was an independent man and no one could command him.

But what they couldn't understand was how upset he got when he wasn't being accused anymore.

"Shouldn't you be happy when you're not being accused no more?", Kate asked.

"Lupus", Laureffaine called him, taking a step to his side.

Even though Xavier tried to hold her back from going to him she still did.

She was being accused and he, a total stranger, was defending her while Xavier only simply watching.

She thought all rogues were rotten. But he proved her wrong everytime. But she had Xavier and didn't need him.

"You all have been with her for years, and her character is being questioned and you just stand there like a statue, I've been with her for not more than a few minutes and I can boldly say she's being framed", Lupus hit his chest hard as sadness covered his heart.

The coldest wolf today, was feeling hurt. This was one of the few emotions he felt in a long time.

Ever since he met Laureffaine, he felt all the emotions he had cut off and buried, resurfacing.

There was deep silence, no one dared to speak. The council knew better than to speak when the Rogue Alpha was this upset.

Yes they feared him, if not, they wouldn't have made him a rogue, making his abilities as an ancient one suppressed.

"Is this what you call family?, What you call a Pack?, I'm sorry to say this but you're better off as a rogue", the Rogue Alpha added.

And from the way Laureffaine cringed, it hurt his heart.

There was definitely no chance for them. The girl didn't want to associate herself with rogues. He thought things had changed over all these centuries.

In the past, rogues were seen as demons, and being with them meant colluding with demons.

And now he knew that no matter how many years passed, if there wasn't a new crown, a new ruler, a new King Alpha to change the rules, change things, everything will remain the same.

But then wolves don't choose to be rogues.

"Enough Already Lupus, put him down", Laureffaine commanded.

And just because he'd do anything for her, he complied.

But what had Laureffaine shocked was the fact that he didn't burn himself.

Not from touching the flaming hot bars and not from the fire Elder Senile set on the rogues. Even the rogues had burnt marks on their skins.

But for wolves, they'd heal in no time.

"Maybe he also had abilities as an ancient one", so Laureffaine thought.

Now if there was something she was so sure about, Lupus was no normal rogue, they wouldn't make him their Alpha if he was.

"Do you have anything to support your wild allegations?", Elder Ferai asked.

"Don't you dare tell lies, you're in a room with an Alpha and high ranked wolves", Xavier finally found his voice.

Lupus scoffed. To him, Xavier's shade was petty.

"Are you seriously continuing this investigation?, If she's being really framed, they know what they are up to and came prepared and I can tell you that they're telling lies", Lupus turned to the council elders.

He was once again defending the mate that didn't even want him.

"We're only rogues and so we don't share the mind link with her, she contacted us with a number, through the electronic thing they use in the human towns", the rogue Lupus choked spoke.

"Dial the number and call", Kate handed him her cellphone and watched as he struggled to use it.

"I thought you used this thing to call her, and you can't even use it?", Lupus smirked finding a loophole in their story.

They were old rogues. This, Lupus knew, he was the Alpha of Rogues, the moment he saw them,he knew they were a few centuries old.

"Our leader was the one who used it, I am only his right-hand", he replied as he passed the phone to the next rogue.

He dialed the number, then called.

Only a few seconds and they heard the sound of a ringtone. Turning to Laureffaine's direction, they all watched as she took her phone out.

"Traitor!", Kate exclaimed. She was all ready to pull Laureffaine's hair.

Xavier held her back as his strong arms circled around her waist.

"How?", Laureffaine asked but it came out as a whisper.

"Oh you know how", Kate threw her hands up in the air.

"Are you talking about how you got caught or...

You've been caught already, so stop pretending", she added.

"I'm being framed, I have no idea how they have my number. It must be someone from the Pack trying to frame me. Xavier you must give me justice", Laureffaine cried.

Rogues were the creatures she hated the most and Xavier knew this. So why wasn't he coming to her rescue.

"Who in this Pack would want to frame you Laure?, Everybody loves you, you are the most respected she-wolf here apart from the Luna", Xavier said in frustration.

Laureffaine breathed deeply. Even he was questioning her. He knew her best, couldn't he support and believe her like the Rogue Alpha was doing.

"You're questioning me, your best friend, we've known each other for more than twenty years Xav. I even told you about the note in which it stated that the Rogue Alpha was threatening me and our Pac-

"Is this true Alpha Lambeth?", Kate's father, Elder Senile interrupted.

"It is, she did tell me ab-

"Just her words dad, no one actually saw the note besides her, it could be one of her ploy", Kate was quick to say.

"Did you see the note Alpha Lambeth?", Elder Ferai asked.

"No", Xavier replied simply.

"Everyone except her", Laureffaine whispered.

"What did you say?", Elder Ferai asked.

"Everyone in this pack likes me and treats me well except her, she envies the relationship I have with Xavier, keeps calling me the Alpha's mistress, what better way to get rid of me", Laureffaine said quietly, pointing her index finger at Kate.

Lupus stood there with a frown on his face. The only thing on his mind now was why the Blue Lake Creek Pack's Luna would call Laureffaine the Alpha's mistress.

"That is hilarious Laureffany, I'd never make another woman miserable", Kate cried as she threw herself into Xavier's arms.

Laureffaine looked on amazed. The woman could pretend, she definitely deserve an award like what the humans did.

"My name is Laureffaine and I've tolerated you for so long-

"If you want to know whether she's really our boss, check her wrist, there's a tattoo of the sun meeting the moon. You know what that means right?", One of the rogues said.

"Rebellion against the Packs and the Moon Goddess", Kate fake gasped.

"How dare you rotten piece of shit", Laureffaine yelled.

Her eyes were blazing like fire. The disrespect for her name had to stop. Tears slowly fell.

"Why are you denying everything master", a female rogue shouted.

"Enough!", Laureffaine yelled.

Rage was bubbling in her. She threw her dagger, slitting the female rogue's throat as tears rolled down her cheeks.

Her character was being questioned. And this was all because of the creatures she hated the most.

Rogues.

"Alpha Lambeth, take her down", Elder Senile commanded.

Yes, he commanded an Alpha. That was how strong the elders of the wolf council were.

Xavier stood still, he couldn't move. He turned to look at Laureffaine. He watched her as the tears freely fell. She was begging him with her eyes to defend her honor and protect her pride.

On one hand was the she-wolf Xavier claimed to love and on the other, a council elder, his chosen mate's father.

Xavier feared the council, and most importantly, he'd do anything Senile asked. The elder was behind his success as an Alpha amongst the Packs.

He held Laureffaine's arms.

"Don't touch her", Lupus pushed him away as he hid Laureffaine behind him.

"Lupus de Algerenéé, release her."

"Senile, how dare you take my name. And I don't follow your rules, never did, never will. A she-wolf's name and honor is being disrespected and you all stood without doing anything", Lupus shook his head not believing what he was witnessing.

"She took matters in her own hands and you'll punish her for it?, Do it when I'm dead", he added.

"This is a problem of my Blue Lake Creek Pack, stay out of it", Xavier held Lupus' gaze.

"I won't, she's m-

"It's okay Alpha, thanks for helping me but I can defend myself. I don't like being taken care of", Laureffaine interrupted.

She knew what he was going to say and she couldn't have the council knowing the relationship they shared. They would force the Bond on her.

"But-

Laureffaine held her hand up as she rolled her sleeves up.

"Watch me prove my Innocence", she smiled.

Her eyebrows pulled together and her heart skipped a beat. Her wrist was glowing and the Mark Of Rebellion sat on her wrist.

"Laure?", Xavier shook his head.

Laureffaine knew that look, he was having doubts about her.

"Really Xav?, You know me best", Laureffaine's heart crushed.

"Laure-

"Don't touch me", Laureffaine pushed him away.

"Laureffaine Epstein is guilty as charged. Bears the Mark Of Rebellion, she attacked her own Pack and is charged with treason, and also killed a rogue under investigation. As leader of the wolf council, I ban her from all Packs, she's to never return", Elder Senile announced.

"You can't do that, this should be thoroughly investigated", Lupus stood in front of him, face to face.

"Well news flash Lupus, I just did", Elder Senile ignored the Rogue Alpha and left the cells as the rest of the elders followed.

Xavier walked to Laureffaine and held her hands in his.

"Let go", she removed her hands from his.

Xavier was the last person she wanted to see. He was a coward and couldn't even defend her.

"Don't you ever take my name again, don't come near me. This is the last we're seeing of each other. Whatever that we shared, it's all over. I am a she-wolf born for the woods. I won't die or go rogue, never. I'll just live on my own, no friends, no family", she laughed.

"Come with me, I can provide you shelter-

"I don't want it", Laureffaine refused Lupus' offer and left.

Not just the cells, she left her Pack for good.

Lupus couldn't stop thinking about Laureffaine even after returning to Dead Groove. Now it was almost 3am. He decided to look for her.

Deep into the woods and he heard a howl. His chest started to burn.

"The mate pull. Could she be hurt?", He thought.

He followed the howl, running with his inhumane speed.

What he saw made him feel like releasing his inner beast and tasting blood.

Laure could barely stand as she refused to shift. She fought about eight rogues with all that she had.

Lupus pulled his way through, tearing their flesh. His blood thirsty beast was enjoying every pain of the rogues. He sucked them dry.

He was on a killing spree. All he wanted was to protect his mate. He didn't care that she didn't want him.

He snapped the last rogue's neck, not leaving a single one alive.

Once he saw Laureffaine's body about to fall, he run to her side.

"Stay with me, I'm here, forever."
