CHAPTER 3- HER AND HIM

I bought more food for Kate. I bought more of her necessity in her dormitory. I should buy her some groceries next time if we're able to go outside and if we have a lot of free time. Maybe she's too shy to tell me about her personal problems, so I will help her as much as I can. 

"You sure you will give her all of these?" Wave asked while holding all of the bags that I gave him earlier after we bought all of these for Kate. 

"Nah, I'm sure. Don't ask. Look around and keep looking at the room number of her dormitory." I hissed, while looking at the dormitories room number. The librarian said that her room number is 124 Kate Ventura from the Chemical Engineering section. Though their room is apart from us. And I think it is a good idea if I give her all of these in her dormitory so no one can see it.

I'm with Wave besides me. And we stopped in front of the door where it is the exact room number that the librarian told us. 

124- Kate Ventura, Chemical Engineer.

I knocked at her door but on my first attempt, she didn't open the door.

"Let me try." Wave insisted.

He knocked at her door.

"Maybe she's not here?" 

She's in here. I didn't see her somewhere else earlier. Maybe she's alone with her though it's almost time to take a rest and take a sleep. I checked the time on my wrist watch.

It's 7:12pm. We didn't have any dinner yet. I guess Wave will get mad at me if we skip some dinner tonight. And I also think that he's now hungry but keeping his hunger while we're here.

On our last attempt to knock on her door, she finally opened it. She's wearing her sleeping attire, and seems so shocked when she sees us. 

"Hi, good evening!" I greeted her and smiled.

"Uh, hi? What's wrong?" She asked innocently.

"We came here to give you all of this..." I asked Wave to put  inside Kate's dormitory all of the groceries that we bought earlier.

"Can we come inside?"

"Yes, sure. No problem with that."

I look around when we come in. It's totally a different dormitory compared to ours. It's just a simple and no furniture's dormitory. Not air-conditioned room, no computers, no study tables, no big cabinets for her dress and school uniform, no wifi connection on her own

 It was just a simple plain table for herself and a small bed just for one person. Why is this University so unfair? And I thought, she's one of the students who graduated valedictorian in the other school before? But why does she have all of these right now?

"I'm sorry about my place, it's a little bit messy. I was not able to clean it up cause I'm too busy reviewing my notes for the examination next week. Maybe after the examination day, I will clean my room." She chuckled and let us sit on her bed. There's no more chairs here. There's only one chair and seems like it is an old chair.

"No, it's okay. I thought you're a Valedictorian? But why do you suddenly get all of these, instead of getting the thing you deserve to have?" I asked her. She looks at me and seems like she's a little bit sad for something or maybe I offend her for what I have said.

"Did I offend you? Sorry about that."

"No, you did not. Everyone also asks me about that thing, why I get all of these instead of getting those things that belong to me. The first day that I came here, the enrollment day, they asked me if I'am a honor student or what. I said that I'm a Valedictorian. One of the faculty members asked me also where I came from. But when I told them the name of the school, they change their mood and told me that there's no place in here coming from an ordinary public school for a poor like me." She chuckled bitterly. I can feel her emotions here and she looked at Wave besides me.

"By the way, I heard a lot about the both of you. You're together, am I right?" Wave nodded that cool as he looked at me and winked.

"It's a pleasure to meet you two." 

"It's a pleasure too..."

"Do you think there's something wrong here? I thought about that when our professor told us about the highest ranking. Anyway, good luck to your exams next week." I smiled at Kate and she smiled back.

"Thank you, but can I ask you something?"

"Sure what is it?"

"Why do you know about me? Did someone tell you about me and where I came from?"

 I winked at her cause I thought she felt embarrassed knowing that I already knew about her and where she came from.

"Don't be embarrassed. I will help you about the things you're having a hard time with." I added.

"It's not that what you think. I'm just, damn it. I'm just fluttered knowing that you gave me all of these stuffs and foods I really need. Everyone here insults me, disobey me, disrespect me for who I'am. I can't even imagine that---" she looked at me and at Wave. "--the two famous all of the Universities out there give me all of these necessary things. I'm just shy, really shy to the both of you. Imagine, a handsome a very gorgeous girl having a good heart for a poor like me." She bow her head but Wave just chuckled. I know what he thinks about her.

"Don't be shy. We're always here to help you." Wave said. Kate looked at him.

"N-no, I don't always need help. But I will ask indeed." 

"You sure?"

"Hmm, yes."

"Okay, sure. If you need our help, always call us and we're willing to help you out. By the way, do you feel okay or comfortable here?" I asked her. For me, it's not comfortable to live in a place like this. It's too hot to come up and to feel even though I have lived in a big house since birth.

"It's okay, I'm fine to live here. I'm so lucky that I live here for free. I used to live in this kind of place since birth. Don't worry about me." She smiled at me. That feels so worth it. Helping someone without expecting anything to give back is priceless. Seeing the happy is okay.

The day that everyone is waiting for has come. Today is the first day of the examination day and I prepared a lot, I reviewed a lot since I do need to study hard to get higher grades again like before. Wave and I, didn't get along the way since the day that we started to review for this day. We didn't even talk about something unimportant and that's what we always do before examination. He's too busy memorizing some formulas. Wave is always good at memorizing formulas, especially in mathematics. He really loves solving so much and that's what I admire him most since then. I remember the time that we met before when we were in elementary. Every year in our Elementary days, there's a so-called mathematics competition for every student who loves math and is excellent in mathematics. He's from section two, while I came from section one. He's always challenging me at that time, but he always loses me and it's funny to think that he hated me so much before. But he never gives up on challenging me, he's really trying hard to win over me but he can't. He always loses and days have passed, he hated me even more. He hated me for being excellent in mathematics. But then, he surrendered in challenging me and accepted the reality that he might never lose me, but he can love me so much until today. He never makes me feel that I'm so useless nor not worth it. He always makes me feel so special not in his own words but in his actions. He never cheated on me. He never finds another girl that is better than me. I love him so much even more.

"You okay?" Wave asked while spraying the perfume in his body. I realized that I'm thinking too much again about him.

"Y-yes, I'am. You done? Let's go." I smiled at him and grabbed my mini bag at the table.

I pray and hope that I pass the examination day today, especially hoping that I will be in the highest ranking together with Wave.

"Goodluck, Red! We can do it!" I saw Byron walking along the corridor waving his own hands at me and smiling. I waved back at him.

"Same to you!" I shouted cause he's getting too far away.

While we're walking around the way, I saw Kate coming in our way. She's smiling endlessly.

"Uhm, hi! Goodluck!" She greeted and smiled.

"Goodluck, I hope we pass the examination!"

"I hope so too."

"See you later, love birds!" She said, waving her hands to the both of us while walking too far.

"She looks so happy..." Wave said besides me.

"I saw that too." Finally, I'm standing in front of the door of our classroom. I can see here Oly and Leila waiting for me.

"Goodluck to your examination day, baby. Focus on the exams, stop thinking of me. Okay?" He chuckled and patted my head. I rolled my eyes on him.

"Thinking of you? Why would I?" I hissed and chuckled.

"Of course, you love me."

"No, I don't love you." 

"Okay, it's time to find another girl out there." 

"Try to find another girl." I said and smiled at him with sarcasm. I know he's just joking but it's really driving me nuts knowing that he will find another girl just to replace me in his life. 

"I'm just joking around, baby. Don't worry, I will never find another girl. That's a shit." 

"Okay then, you should go."

"I loveyou."

I didn't say anything waiting for him to be pissed. But he just smiled at me.

"I know you love me, stop pissing me off baby. I will never get mad at you." He winked at me before he went and walked out.

"I hope I will find a man like him, sooner." Leila said looking at Wave while he's walking out.

"Then be my girlfriend." Oly said, joking around again. It's his favorite thing to do, joking around and maybe he has a crush on Leila but he never tells her. He didn't want to ruin the friendship that Leila already built in between.

"You're so funny, my dear."
