I groaned and closed my eyes as a wave of strange sensations washed over me. My mouth was dry, my head ached, and my fingers began to tingle. Samael smirked at me, then turned and walked toward his alcohol cabinet, retrieving the bottle of wine I had opened earlier. The moment I stepped out of my room in my white dress and white, strappy heels, I heard Samael talking down the hallway. Sam's arms enveloped me before I could fall down and his teeth sank into my neck harshly. I flinched against the pain and protested with a groan. His arms around me tightened and he held me tight against his body. He wasn't at all careful with me. I felt more like a rag doll when his teeth split open the skin of my neck and I let out a pained yell. "You're hurting me." I whispered. Instead of letting me go, he walked further into the maze with me in his arms. My feet scraped over the gravel and I looked over Sam's shoulder to see Wruy watching us with shocked eyes. We turned a corner, and Sam's chest rumbled loudly. Blood streamed from the wound he had inflicted, staining my once white dress. Pressing his body against mine, he led us deeper into the maze. His wings disappeared, going back into his body like they were never there. His teeth left my neck but only to place his lips against my ear. "Take this off." He demanded, tugging at the back of my dress before biting me again.

The castle seemed to sigh when I entered and I sighed right back at it. But now the 100th challenge of the day: Finding my bedroom. I knew it was straight on. I also knew I couldn't ask someone. So I wandered on, until I stumbled upon a room that was far more intriguing than my dull bedroom—an inviting lounge. The room had big, cosy couches, bookcases lining the walls, and four roaring fires, each positioned opposite the other. The walls were adorned with red carpeting, and the ceiling was entirely made of mirrors. The warmth of the fires enveloped me, and with a hint of drool at the corner of my mouth, I ventured further, captivated by the books on display.
