Chapter 34: Adrian's POV

I walked into Samael's castle with Micah and everything itched inside me to turn around to have one last look at my human.

She had called me a monster. She thought I was Fay when I crawled against her warm body last night and called me a monster.

The words stung me, and they shouldn't have. I knew I was a monster. Just like I thought humans were a lower, disgusting species, they thought we were evil beings. She was lower than me. I had to remember that.

"What's gotten you so sour?" Micah asked me. I snapped my head in his direction. "Mind your own business." I responded. "Someone needs to sleep better." He sneered at me.

That was certainly not the case. My human held me warm all night, and I hadn't slept that well in ages. No one slept in my bed, and no one would know either. The other bed in the tent was still perfectly made up when I woke up this morning. I had to pull myself away from her and I mentally slapped myself. Disgusting.
