"Happy Birthday, babe! Come over in the evening. I have a surprise for you!"
A grin split across my face.
Jake is my other half and deserves to know the truth. I owe him that much if we're going to be together for the rest of our lives.
Maybe today is the day he proposes!!
My cheeks ached with a smile as I typed out my response and dropped my phone on the dresser.
Today is a special day.
I took a deep breath and waited,
I still can't feel my wolf, but it doesn't matter. Probably when I meet Jake later today, it will finally acknowledge him, then we'd have our mating ceremony and live happily.
I'd be safe.
Jake would protect me, that I was sure of.
The only people who know about my true identity are my parents. Not even my siblings have an inkling.
What everyone knows is that I'm an Omega.
Nothing more, nothing less.
Silver-haired Omegas are super rare omega known to have gone extinct and rumored to make every Alpha king go to a rut and, in the end, bear the strongest heir.
Everyone wanted a Silver-haired omega, both Alphas and ordinary wolves, and would kill to get their hands on one.
A soft sigh escaped my lips as I stared at the mirror, my silver hair shimmering in the sunlight.
I wore my necklace, and instantly, my hair changed to red.
The necklace was supposed to help hide my scent and hair color, but for good measures, my parents usually made me rub a scent masking oil on my body before I left the house.
A smile played at my lips when I got to the kitchen and found a cake with a small note waiting for me.
It is my eighteenth birthday today, and my parents have been busy preparing for the Luna selection ceremony happening in the palace soon.
A tradition that follows two years after the Alpha King ascends the throne.
I took a bite from the cake and headed over to Jake's.
Why wait till evening when I can spend my entire day with him till my family gets home.
The pack was buzzing with excitement. Everyone was eager to talk about the Luna selection.
People were also waging bets on candidates that would survive the brutal selection.
A dark thought crossed my mind.
If my wolf still doesn't appear when I meet Jake, I don't know what I'd do then, but I can't leave him.
The sound of moans and slaps filled my ears as I walked closer to the slightly opened door.
I pushed it open, my heart thudding fast in my chest, my hands trembling.
Jake's bare ass was the first thing I noticed, followed by the girl's face on the kitchen table.
"Jake?" I called out, my voice filled with disbelief, "Isabelle?"
Both of them froze and turned to face me.
Isabelle pushed herself off Jake and leaned against the table, "It's about time you found out. It's been killing me hearing you talk about your boyfriend all the time."
"How dare you?" I screamed, directing my anger towards Jake, "Of all people, it had to be my best friend?!"
"Jake is my mate," Isabelle piped in.
My head went blank, and my jaw slacked in surprise.
"We both got our wolf a year ago, but I couldn’t tell you because you were so in love and Jake needed a toy, someone to play his mind games with," she shrugged, "you were the perfect candidate."
I took an unconscious step back in horror, "You could have told me." I whispered, blinking back my tears.
I'm not going to let them see me cry.
"And hurt little miss perfect?" Isabelles scoffed, "No way. Besides, my loyalty is to Jake, not you."
I turned to Jake, "Was everything a lie?"
Jake pulled Isabelle closer to him, "It was for pleasure, and you were never supposed to find out."
I shook my head in disgust at myself.
To think that I was actually going to submit myself to this imbecile tonight.
I swallowed and nodded, giving both of them a hateful look, "I hope you both rot in hell."
"You're just an omega with no use. Do you think you'll find someone better than me?" Jake cackled, "In case you've forgotten, omegas are useless. And you're proof enough."
The tears stung badly.
I turned on my heels and bolted out, running through the woods.
When I stopped to catch my breath and take a look at my surroundings, I realized I was in the last place I'd ever imagined to be, and my mother was frowning at me with so much worry.
How the heck did I manage to run this far without realizing it?
The Alpha King's palace was miles away from the Pack and secluded.
I walked through the gates towards her, my mind made up.
I'll prove to everyone that Omegas can me much more.
"What's wrong, cara?" Mum whispered, pulling me into a hug. "Aren't you supposed to be with Jake?"
"We broke up," I replied, harsher than I wanted .
"What happened?" Mum probed. I brushed her question aside and took a long look at the palace.
Either I get killed for being useless, or I actually succeed.
Either way, it's a win-win situation.
I returned my gaze back to my mother, "I want to register for the Luna selection."

AaronCeleste's grip found my arm again the moment my assistant stepped away."You left me standing there." She kept her voice low, but the edges were sharp. "For your assistant. A Yards nobody who can't even dress herself without your credit card.""Careful." I didn't look at her. "She's my employe
