Quinn
Fucking hell. This is not how he wanted this night to go. This night, week, month.. it has all been a cluster fuck of shit. He was trying his damndest to keep himself in check. He didn’t want to go back to the way things were before. He was doing so much better now, all because of Em. He was so pissed off though. At his dad, at her mom.. at the world. The very fucking moment things were all working out, everything went to complete shit. How the fuck could her mom do this to her? His dad.. well that was another story but after everything Em had been through— it didn’t make sense to him. It wasn’t adding up. But he refused to do it. He wished that she would just understand he’s doing this for her. People would talk. No matter if they weren’t blood related, it would be the whole talk of the town. Em would be ridiculed and he would get off without a word. There was no way he was gonna allow that to happen… she had been through too much in her life to go through something like that again. And now she knows about Finley. Probably from fucking Asher. Quinn didn’t like the extra closeness between the two of them lately. Or had they always been that way? He didn’t know for sure. The amount of jealousy he’d had the day he walked in on them in the basement. The two of them cuddled up on the couch asleep was enough to drive him mad…. And it just about did. He had been at Chase’s barn the other night when he saw Finley. She had asked him how things were going — of course she had heard the news. The only reason he agreed to go was because he thought it would be better for Em if he wasn’t there. He didn’t know they’d already been planning a separate dinner anyway. Later that same night he had seen the girl from the last party weeks ago. He had made the same stupid decision again and if and when Em found out about that.. well he didn’t want to know what would happen. But he needed to …. No. He HAD to get over her. He had to forget her and move on. It was the only way to protect her. The girl, whose name was oddly Angel, was one of the only people he had ever met that lived in Eugene and didn’t know Fin. Eugene was a little town about 45 minutes away from where they lived in Andover. Finley’s dad lived there.. he had for years and years so she stayed out there a lot with him. Angel, he found out, was a few years older than him though. She was taking a year off college to help her mom run the little bar and restaurant she owned. It just happened to be the place out by the mill where the last fight had been. Her dad had recently passed away and her mom needed help keeping the place afloat. When she was telling him all this.. she mentioned she had been in college for a few years and only had a few more classes to take before she graduated. When she said this.. he finally asked her age. She was 22. It was fine with Quinn. He could handle an older woman. The only problem was he never.. ever.. double dipped so to speak. He never spent more than one night with a girl.. except for Finley of course since they had been together since they were kids. But the fact that Angel was older .. he figured she could handle it. He made everything clear to her up front. He was in love with someone else… and this would just be for fun. But he needed a distraction, and she would do the job. Until she left and went back to school… that is. She was going to be a nurse. Quinn really fucking hoped she didn’t get a job at the hospital where Carol worked because talk about all his different worlds crashing into one. Angel was sort of the opposite of Em.. and maybe that’s why he went for her. That and .. she was there and offering. She was tall and had long straight jet black hair. She was kind of a rocker type chic. Hell she worked at a fucking motorcycle bar. And the best part, her eyes were dark brown … the complete opposite of Em’s light grey moon ones. The ones he was staring into right now. He was having trouble looking away from them as they filled with tears. He sighed again. “Em….” He started. “I’ve explained all this to you already. I don’t even know why we’re still talking about it. We’re going to be siblings for fucks sake. We can’t be together now. Why would you even want to??” He was lying through his teeth but he wanted her to understand. He was back in his old ways of trying to hurt her just so she would hate him and stay away. The truth was.. he could give two fucks if they were step siblings. But he knew this town.. and he knew the ridicule she would endure. He was doing it for her. He wouldn’t tell her that because she would just try to talk him out of it.. and she might be successful. He was going to have to be harsh and he dreaded it more than he had dreaded his brother coming home a few months ago. “I’m having thanksgiving with Fin because she’s my family. You don’t want me there anyway. Elias and Chase are going too. Just have your dinner.. let me have mine what’s the big deal?” And just as he knew it would.. those words hurt her. He could see what he had done immediately from the look on her face. But even that wasn’t as near bad as what happened next. As luck would have it… if he wanted to push her away he was about to succeed. In that moment his phone rang. He had on purposely put Angels name in his contacts…. and for the cherry on top he’d taken a picture of her to pop up when she called. It was very obvious the picture was of the two of them in bed. He had taken it just a couple nights ago when he saw her again at Chase’s. He saw it the moment it happened. If he hadn’t succeeded in making Em hate him, he had at least succeeded in breaking her heart…… again. And fuck. He hated every single second of it.Quinn He was in his outbuilding.. and he’d just finished with his last student of the day, a seven year old boy named Christian. His mother always dropped him off and picked him up. Quinn had wondered about the kid’s dad. Most of the students he had were around that age. Not that he had a ton of them. He’d only just started teaching MMA a few weeks ago and pretty much everyone he taught had signed up through his dad. His dad… although he was still pissed at him about all of this … had really stuck his neck out for Quinn. He’d bought the building and all the equipment and then brought him business. Quinn knew it was mostly because John wanted him to stop doing the underground illegal fights. But this certainly didn’t take the place of it … although it did help some. However Quinn couldn’t very well go around beating the shit out of his students. His dad was a very prominent lawyer. He knew a whole lot of people so he started spreading the word about Quinn teaching. And within ab
EmEmerson had gone back to the twins house after her encounter with Quinn. She wanted nothing more than to crawl into bed and stay there forever. But when she went downstairs to the basement to do just that… she found Aspen and Asher waiting on her. “Hey … guys …” she said deflated. “Em. Are you alright? Did something else happen?” Aspen asked her. Emerson sighed .. the longest and most pitiful thing she’d ever heard. “Yes. But I really don’t want to talk about it.” She told them. Asher nodded… a pained expression on his face. She felt bad that she’d advertently come between him and Quinn. They’d been best friends before all this. “We’ve noticed you’ve been down for the past few days. And we’re here to help.” Asher said grinning at her. “And don’t try to talk us out of it. You know that will only make us more determined.”Despite everything Em smiled at that. “Come on. We’re going to wrap presents!” Aspen said excitedly. Em agrees and decided to change clothes first. It was
Emerson The next couple of days she stayed busy. She had school and then work. She went to the twins house then home to tuck Sawyer in. As much as she didn’t want to see Quinn at all… she wondered where he was. He hadn’t been at school one day. She knew that for a fact because she heard Elias talking about it in one of her classes. She assumed he was back the next day but she didn’t see him. She also hadn’t seen him at home any. She was getting ready for her weekly meeting with Mara. She’d been thinking about calling Evan. She could definitely use some of that calming effect he possessed. But she was kind of afraid to since he now knew she didn’t take his advice. She was actually surprised he hadn’t called her. Before Emerson moved.. and she was going to therapy with Evan at his office, he would still call and check up on her through the week. Of course those were during his office hours and he called from his office phone … not like now when she talked to him late at night
Emerson The morning after .. the phone call.. she felt worse than she had the morning after drinking all the bourbon. She wondered if Asher would bring her tomato juice and make that same breakfast again for her if she begged him to. Last night after Quinn called her and basically ripped her a new one .. she had cried. She cried for an entire hour. She cried about River and her dad and Huxley and Quinn. Then she cried about her mother and mostly about Sawyer. Had she really abandoned him? Was she being selfish by leaving? She didn’t think so. It was Quinn’s fucking fault in the first place. He’s the one that broke her heart into. He’s the one that won’t abide by any rules like bringing girls to her own house. Why didn’t she stick up for herself on the phone with him?She had been so taken aback by the things he was yelling and accusing her of that she couldn’t even think straight. He had made her feel completely and utterly awful about Sawyer. She loved her brother. But she didn’t
Quinn He hadn’t seen Emerson since she caught him sneaking Zoe out of her house. And fuck he didn’t plan that shit. Quinn knew she told her mom and his dad … ‘their’ fucking parents now … that she didn’t want him having girls over. He understood it. Hell if she brought a guy over he’d be dead before anyone could blink. And it is her house after all. He wasn’t doing it to be an asshole… He just needed an outlet. And Zoe didn’t want to go back to her parents house where she was staying. The girl is 26 years old but she doesn’t live there. She lives a couple of hours away and was in town visiting. So he didn’t have much of a choice. But it wasn’t meant for her to see. Quinn guessed he paid for that shit dearly. When he got home today her mother said she’d left and was staying with the twins. He knew it was just next door but he also fucking hated that she wasn’t there . And he knows that was spurned by his having another girl over. He couldn’t blame her.. but it also meant she i
Em“I’m staying at the twins for a few days.” She told her mother. Carol sighed and started shaking her head. “I don’t want you staying over there Em. We have some things to discuss as a family..” she said. “Well I don’t have anything I want to discuss. And I don’t want to stay here around Quinn. Didn’t we decide he wasn’t to have girls over? And he had a different one over here last night. I don’t want to see that mother. And I’m not going to punish myself by being around it. Now I’m not leaving forever but I need some space from him and from you. I’m just going next fucking door.” Emerson said. She felt bad immediately because her mother looked like she was ready to cry. But she had to be firm. “I wasn’t aware he had another girl over … I’ll speak to John ..” her mom said. Em scoffed. “What’s that going to do? He isn’t going to listen to his dad he’s lost all respect for him. and that happens to be y’all’s fault not Quinn’s.” Em said as she headed towards the door. “Emerso
