Em

All she could do was stare at him. Then he winked at her… and started watching the pool game again.

Oh ma geez what was happening??

Em did not particular like these feelings she was having. She really needed to call Evan— maybe her old therapist could tell her what all this meant. She was pretty sure she was having a nervous breakdown.

It’s not that she didn’t love her new therapist, Mara, she did. Mara was very patient and knowledgeable and understanding. It had taken Em a little bit to completely open up to her because… obviously telling someone your entire life story isn’t easy. Especially when you just met the person. And her story was filled with ugliness. Having to relive everything she’d gone through wasn’t easy … it took her back to all the awful shit she’d been through in her life… starting with River ., then her dad.

But eventually she got there. So Mara knew everything now. Still.. something about Evan made her feel comfortable and at ease. He got her through so much hell … she counted on him, and he never once let her down. How do you give that up?

But all these conflicting feelings were making her brain hurt.

To make matters worse, then her phone rang. It was Quinn.

Shit shit shit shit

Why was he even calling her? He doesn’t want to talk, he doesn’t want to work things out he just wants to act like every single thing they’d been through just never happened. It must be nice to be able to disregard major life occurrences like that.

She answered after staring at her phone for five minutes.

“Em.” He said.

“Quinn”. She said back.

Haha. Not letting him get the upper hand.

Jesus she was losing it.

“Can we talk?” He asked her.

She was quiet for a bit.. a long bit actually. So long that he asked was she still there. She finally agreed.. even though she wasn’t sure why.

So she said goodbye to the twins and Grey, telling them she might come back over in a little while. That of course depended on how this talk went. She walked back across the yard to her house where Quinn was waiting. Walking back home felt like walking into the lions den somehow.

But he wasn’t outside like she thought he would be. No he was inside sitting on her couch like he lived there. Oh, wait.

“What’s up?” She asked him after she came in and sat down.

After a few moments of him not saying anything she looked up at him. She noticed he was frowning at her heavily.

“What?” She said.

“Why the fuck are you wearing Asher’s sweater?” He asked.

Shit she had forgotten she even had it on. Well she had warned Asher he might never get it back. But why was he acting mad about it anyway??

“I got cold so he gave it to me. What’s the problem?” She said.

Quinn still looked like he didn’t like her wearing Asher’s clothes but at the moment she could’ve given two shits. He didn’t get to act mad about stuff like that right now.

“What did you want to talk about?” She asked him.

“I brought some of my stuff over. I was gonna ask you if it was okay for me to take the extra bedroom upstairs… or if you had rather I take the basement room.”

What??

THAT is what he wanted to talk about??

He brought some of his stuff over??

Em was getting red in the face she was sure because all the blood in her body turned to lava.

Anger coursed through her…. and she was just about ready to erupt.

She jumped up from the spot next to him on the couch.

“THATS what you wanted to talk about??” She yelled. Quinn looked at her confused.

“You are seriously asking me that question right now?” Emerson exclaimed.. now totally and utterly pissed off.

“Yes.” He said.

“Uuggghhhhh!” She yelled dramatically.

And damn him.. if he didn’t let a little smile poke through at that. And damn her for finding it adorable.

“Was there something else you wanted to talk about?” He asked her.

As if he didn’t know…..

“Ooohhh I don’t know Quinland ..”

She said.

Shit. She got another grin at that. She was seriously losing it.

“Maybe we could discuss WHY you’re doing this?? Maybe we could discuss why you’re having thanksgiving with Finley…. “

She saw a look pass on his face when she said that. Clearly he didn’t know that she knew…

“Maybe we could discuss literally anything in the world besides what room you should take!”

Quinn sighed…. still not offering any sort of explanation… but the look he gave her then.. it crushed her very soul.

Within the month of January she went back to school. And by February she was back dancing and teaching with Maria at Tush. They’d been doing great together too. Once she left the hospital and he had admitted his feelings .. they’d been together ever since. and to his surprise .. they didn't eve

Emerson She snuggled back up to Asher and she ended up falling asleep. Because she always felt safe in Asher’s arms. When Quinn came back.. she expected anger from him. But surprising her.. that’s not what she got at all. Asher had fallen asleep too. And Quinn stood there .. looking at them together .. and he smiled. And she smiled back. Finally the following day she got to go home. She moved slowly .. and didn’t do much. But she was home. They’d cleaned up the mess that had been made during her abduction. And Emerson had been worried she would feel scared to be back here. But she wasn’t. She was glad. After what had happened .. she decided not to sweat the small stuff. Because things could always be much worse. Quinn finally told her about the message he’d gotten from his brother. Apparently their dad had cheated on their mom with some woman he worked with. That was what made their mom start leaving and staying gone for days at a time.. and it was why she le

Emerson It had been five days since she had been home from the hospital. It had been eight days since she woke up in said hospital… and two weeks since the worst night of her life. After she woke up and realized her dream wasn’t really a dream at all .. but it was everything that was happening while she was in a coma. It took her a while to really understand and grasp everything that had happened. At first she only recalled bits and pieces. But pretty soon the entire horrible ordeal came back to her. The doctors wanted to keep her for a while in the hospital .. so she had stayed three days once she woke up. The first day there were a lot of tests run .. making sure everything was working properly. Plus she had a ton of visitors that first day. Everyone cried … she cried too. But she was also happy .. happy that it was all over. By the end of that day she’d been poked and prodded and visited so much that she was worn out… and slept straight through the night. All h

Quinn Em had been in the regular room for two days. They’d been at the hospital for five at that point. And they were all just about to crack. He supposed in the grand scheme of things.. two days wasn’t that long. But fuck … it felt like forever. They’d all gotten their hopes up too high once the doctors had released Em from ICU. They all for some reason figured she would wake up in a few hours. And when that entire day went by with no signs from her .. They all got taken down a notch. And when they woke up in their adjoining hospital room… that had turned into a one room apartment for eleven people … and there had been no change … They started to get discouraged. And when that day went by and Em still hadn’t woken up .. they started to lose hope. “These things take time.” The doctor said when he came by that night. “She could wake up right now.. she could wake up in a week .. a month.. we just don’t know.” “A month??” Carol cried. The doctor sighed. “Carol. You know

  • Catching the Moon (Chasing the Moon Book 2)   Chapter 158

EmDreams are funny. They’re strange and weird. Sometimes happy.. sometimes joyful and silly. Often they made no sense at all. At least from what she could remember. Because she didn’t have dreams anymore. Not since a couple of years ago anyway.. after everything with River and her dad. Since then, she only had nightmares. Of course she would have those peaceful moments .. when she was cuddled up to Asher or sleeping in a room full of people .. where she went the hours nightmare free. It’s funny how that works. Just knowing she was surrounded by people that love her gave her the comfort she needed to sleep peacefully. But she didn’t make the rules and that’s just how it was. Or maybe her subconscious had more power than she realized. Sure she may have had dreams, but none that she remembered. None that she was acutely aware of while she was sleeping. Not like she did in her horrifying nightmares. So for as far as she knew .. she didn’t have dreams. Until now … And this dream ..

  • Catching the Moon (Chasing the Moon Book 2)   Chapter 157

QuinnHe had gotten to stay with Em for thirty minutes. The rules for the ICU were very strict. After twelve hours they could have visitors .. two at a time… for half an hour. Then the visitors left and the nurses and doctors would come in and check them.. change out medication and check their vitals or whatever else was needed .. The doctors and nurses had that thirty minutes .. then , two more people could come in. Half an hour of visitation and half an hour of rest .. even though the patients were being poked and prodded .. and not resting at all during that time. After forty eight hours .. they’d start bringing her off the medication.. lowering doses at first .. one at a time. Then they’d do the same with the machines. If that all went okay… they would move her to a regular room. It was a lot and very time consuming. But he was glad they were taking things slowly. Whatever got her better .. he was there for it. After Quinn and Carol came out .. his dad went in to visit. No one
