CHAPTER THREE

JULIA

My heart is a talking drum, but I find my sense.

“Get your filthy hands off me, now!” I scream, annoyed.

“Oh, she has wings,” His brother taunts, and I glance at him.

He’s the exact opposite, with big brown eyes and jet black hair, which seems to look blue in some lights.

“Why the hell were you peeking? Did your mom not teach you manners?” The girl with them sneers and reaches for me with her long nails.

“I needed help with my library, and … get your fucking fingers away from me!” I growl, thrashing, trying to escape his hold, but he’s so firm.

“Stop thrashing.” He seethes and wraps his other hand around my throat.

I stop breathing. He’s touching me. His hand spreads and presses down. My vision swims as he steps closer, flooding my nostrils with his scent. I can’t speak. He seems to have stolen away that ability. My body is flooded with goosebumps. My heart pounds faster, and I can’t think.

What … what the fuck?

“You need to learn your place, you foreign bitch. You'd better stop snooping around, or you’ll lose your fucking eyes. No one wants you here. No one needs you. Read the room. Take your tramp of a mother and run if you know what is good for you.” She sneers at me, waving her long fingers.

Suddenly, Steve’s voice cuts through the chaos.

“What is going on here!”

Everyone flinches, including me. The twin lets me go immediately, and something flashes in his eyes.

Mom gasps in shock, “Julia!”

She rushes to me, pushing away the girl.

“What happened? What happened, Julia?” She demands angrily at the twins, “Did you touch my daughter?”

“Calm down, Diana.” Steve says softly, then turns to the girl, then to his son, “I’ve told you time and time again, Sebastian. I don’t want her here. You’re free to ruin your lives in school, but I never want to see Alicia here, but you don’t fucking listen. You never listen.”

“Go home, Alicia. NOW. If I see you on my property again, I will call the police and make sure you spend the night there.” He glares at her.

She whimpers and walks away, feigning tears. I watch as she walks away, as she meets my gaze and drags her finger over her throat, and I wonder what I have done. Oh God. What have I done?

“Silas, care to explain why you had your stepsister pinned to the wall?” Steve demands, and I tremble. He’s so angry.

“She was snooping by my door, and he caught her, Sebastian responds.

“I wasn’t speaking to you, Sebastian. Now, listen, this is Julia, your stepsister, and she’s here to stay. She will stay. She belongs here. This is Diana, and we are getting married soon. They are family, and you will stop being stupid. I am tired of your constant chaos. Do not make me punish you.” He threatens.

“Now, apologise to her!” He commands.

My eyes widen as the twins turn to me, destruction in their eyes.

I shake my head immediately, “Oh, no, no, they don’t have to apologise for anything. I just needed help with my library.”

“We are sorry,” Sebastian says.

Silas nods, “Why don’t we help you with the library?”

“No, I’m good.” I say, not buying that bullshit act for one second.

“We just want to help you, sister,” Sebastian whispers.

Oh, God.

“Let them help you, Julia. They will be on their best behaviour. They know better than to mess with me, again.” Steve assures me, and I nod, even though I don’t believe him at all. I want zero contact with his twins, but this is important to my mom, so I will play a part.

“Come on, sister.” Silas smiles and grabs my arm as gently as he can, while digging his nails into it.

Sebastian walks on the other side, and I lead them to my bedroom. Silas locks the door, then turns his blue eyes to me. He narrows it at me, but says nothing. I brace myself for whatever attack they have planned, but nothing comes. To my surprise, they bend and get to work.

I watch as they fix my library, doing it so effortlessly. They’re done in a matter of seconds, and, they even help me arrange the books.

“Of course you read shitty books,” Sebastian mutters, and I roll my eyes.

“Thank you. Now, get out of my room.” I snap, my arms folded.

They get up and look at me. They share a look, smirk, and Silas speaks, “You’re supposed to thank us, sister. Try to be less of a bitch. You might have our Dad wrapped around your finger but you can’t fool us. We know the whole perpy innocent girl thing is an act, so stay out of our way, and we’ll stay out of yours.”

I clench my jaw, “What if I just want to make friends? I’m new here and I’ll start school in a few days. Why can’t we just be friends? We don’t have to be family.”

“We are not your friends. We don’t even want you here. We want nothing to do with you, so go back to the hole you crawled out from, you fucking bitch!” Sebastian sneers, getting in my face.

I sigh, ignoring the ache in my heart, “At least, don’t pretend to be nice to me. Don’t even look at me. You don’t know me, and you hate me already. Does that make any sense?”

“You’re right. Let’s not pretend to be friends.” Silas nods and kicks my library, letting everything fall to the ground, sending the book flying.

I clench my jaw hard, but I don’t react. I don’t say anything. I don’t even need them for anything.

“Thank you, now, get out, before I call your dad, who you’re obviously afraid of. Let me guess, Daddy doesn’t love you?” I mock.

Sebastian’s face heat up and he lunges at me.

CHAPTER 85JULIA – POINT OF VIEWI wake up the next morning. Silas is gone, and Sebastian has a vice-like hold on me as if he expects me to run away while he sleeps.I smile, settling into his warmth. He is deeply asleep, but still holding on to me tightly. He has an inclination, even when unconscious, to protect me, and as every growing boy, he believes the safest place I can be is with him, and I do not doubt that. I find it endearing. I graze his soft cheeks with my hands. He stirs but doesn’t wake. I lean in, counting his lashes. My fingers thread through his thick curls. He’s so beautiful. I don’t understand how they can be so beautiful. No offence to Steve, but he isn’t where they get their beauty from. Their mother must have been gorgeous. His lashes flutter as he wakes up.Goosebumps break over my skin when his hold tightens, and he pulls me closer.“Morning, baby.” He groans thickly, biceps flexing in a way that makes me want to clench my thighs. He smiles at me, a knowing ex

CHAPTER 84JULIA – POINT OF VIEWMorning finds me in the kitchen, giggling as Sebastian tries and fails to put something together.“Do not laugh! You’re distracting me!” He grumbles, whisking the eggs.Silas watches, cheeks flushed, and murmurs, “Wrap it up, brother and stop making a mess. I won’t clean the kitchen, just know that. Take your L already.”“I will not.” Sebastian is determined, and it makes me laugh harder.Their grand plan this morning is to cook a separate breakfast, something beautiful and different, something we can all enjoy. Sebastian began about thirty minutes ago, and now, it is obvious he is going to lose big time. I’m pleased to watch his failure, because I want to win. We’d told him to cook a simple meal; a rice dish would have been better, but he decided to make scrambled eggs and bread from scratch.Everywhere is covered in flour and the sweet stench of my impending victory.“Give up already!” I giggle, impatient to get to my turn.He sighs deeply and throws

CHAPTER 83JULIA – POINT OF VIEWWe enjoy each other’s presence and silence. Our first day there is spent existing in each other’s space. Sex isn’t on the schedule. They are still worried that they broke me, and I can’t blame them. My body is still riddled with love marks. The one around my neck has faded a little, but the ones on my inner thigh, back, just everywhere still linger. I like looking at it, and, deep down, I don’t want it to fade, at least not yet. I enjoy looking at it, looking at the carnage they’ve wrecked on my body. A representation of the pleasure, how they can barely contain it.That night, we slept early. It’s strange to sleep early. We’re young, yet we’re acting like old people.“Perhaps we should throw a party and hope the deers around us attend,” Silas smirks.I giggle and nudge his shoulder, “You know that’s not what I meant. Just … we are young, we should do young people things, even though I think you’re both old men. There’s something strange about you, som

CHAPTER 82SILAS – POINT OF VIEW“Maybe hate is a strong word, but I do not like the thought of them.” She clarifies, which does nothing to help what I already think.“Because it’s unfair to carry so much power?” Seb asks her, and she nods.I know I should drop the topic, but she’s speaking from a place of ignorance. She has not been directly affected by a werewolf and yet hates the idea of us. It’s ironic because she was holding me tight overnight and now, she wants to curb us from the world. “You do know that werewolves do not choose to be werewolves. It is not a conscious choice on the part. It’s not something they decide on a random Tuesday. They’re born like that, well, according to the countless books and myths. They are not like Vampires who are turned. The beast you speak about is inherent, they’re born like that, and I understand your perspective now. I really do understand you. Maybe I'm just too open minded.” I shrug, biting my lips.So what if she doesn’t like werewolves?

CHAPTER 81JULIA – POINT OF VIEW“W …what?” Sebastian asks, confused.“Werewolves.” I clarify, taking another sip of the tea, oblivious to their true reaction to my questions.“Yeah, we heard you. Why … why are you asking about Werewolves? It’s a little abrupt.” Silas looks at me, brows furrowed, eyes glazing over with an emotion I can’t identify just yet.“I’ve been reading this book,” I begin, “And it got me thinking. It’s a romantic fantasy, of course, but that’s just what it is, a book. There’s no way Werewolves are real, just like Vampires aren’t real. Imagination is a curious thing because somehow, we created these species in our mind, put them in books and sell them to thousands of people. The concept of Werewolves is ridiculous, don’t you think?”“Really?” Silas frowns at me.I fold my legs beneath me and delve into it, “Of course, think about it. Werewolves. Beasts that walk around in the form of men, that’s indulgent in people’s belief in anything. In a way, I understand why

CHAPTER 80JULIA – POINT OF VIEWI wake up hours later, at the crack of dawn. I’ve been sleeping for hours, and my memories feel fragmented, all over the place. It’s hard to remember anything except the sex. The overwhelming sex we had.Everywhere is dark, but sunlight streams in, just barely.I am in bed, but not alone. Silas is on my right, deeply asleep, his arm around me, with his face buried in the crook of my neck. Sebastian has his arm around my hips, deeply asleep, too. They’re holding me tight as if they expect me to run away. Sex is a big deal for me, and I’m not going away. Keeping my virginity was a conscious action on my path, and deciding to sleep with them was a choice. The storm isn’t over, just settled for the moment. The air is cold and calm. I feel reborn and made anew. My bladder burns, so I carefully extract myself from them. I am cautious, so I won’t wake them up. They took care of me, cleaned me and put me to bed. The least I can do is let them sleep on.Howev
