Kyra's POV
Pain exploded across my back.
"Tell me the truth, you worthless child!"
"I swear, I didn't take it!" I pleaded as my father whipped me.
Behind him, Myra and my stepmother stood laughing while I choked back tears.
My father's most prized possession, a golden ring made for him by the Pack's famous goldsmith, had suddenly gone missing.
I didn't know anything about it until he stormed into my room, dragged me out like a ragdoll, and ordered the guards to tie me to a pillar in front of the Pack house.
I only realised the gravity of the situation when Myra pointed at me, accusing me of stealing the ring.
I tried to deny the accusation.
I told him it wasn't me, but it was futile. My words meant nothing to him. He only listened to my stepmother and stepsister.
"She's a thief! A useless princess who steals," my stepmother shouted.
Her words were like fuel to a raging fire. It made my father whip me even harder.
I begged and pleaded with him, but each plea was met with a harder strike, and another, until I hung limp over the pillar.
"Mother, please help me," I cried out to my dead mother, wishing she had never left me alone with these cruel people.
"Worthless, good-for-nothing, wolf-less brat!'' Father cursed, whipping me one last time.
I sagged against the pillar, too weak to move anymore. My back burned. I could only imagine the number of scars this would leave.
"Since you've decided to act like a criminal, you'll be treated like one. You will be locked in your room with no food or water until you return my ring,” Father declared.
I didn't respond. I could barely lift my head.
“If anyone gives her food or water, they'll answer to me," he threatened everyone.
He tossed his whip aside and ordered the guards to take me to my room and lock me up.
I watched as two guards untied me and dragged me to my room like I was a corpse.
They gently placed me on the bed. They apologized for the pain before locking me up in my room.
I understood why they were hard on me in front of their Alpha.
I wept all alone in bed.
"Why didn't you take me with you?" I sobbed; I couldn't feel any part of my body.
Suddenly, I heard a knock on my door, followed by laughter.
"How's your back?" Myra taunted.
“You think you're smart.”
"You're worthless, always have been, and always will be. Remember that next time you want to play smart," my stepmother added.
They snickered and laughed as they walked away. But their words lingered like poison, making me wish for death.
When night finally came, I felt a bit better.
The pain had dulled just enough for me to breathe easily. This wasn’t the first time I’d been beaten, I’d learned how to survive pain.
My heart skipped when the door creaked open and a guard stepped inside.
"The Alpha wants you to join him outside," he reported.
My breath caught in my throat when I heard this. I wondered what my father wanted.
"Has he forgiven me and now wants to hear me out?" I mused, thinking my dream for a fatherly love was finally coming true.
I followed the guard outside the mansion.
The entire Pack was gathered along with my father, stepmother, and Myra, all looking grim and sullen.
"What's going on here?" I asked the guard, but he didn't respond.
"What took you so long?" Someone growled from behind, sending shivers down my spine.
I turned to see who it was and froze.
Alpha Roderick.
The Devil Alpha, feared by many.
His red eyes glowed as he glared at me.
He came closer, and I instinctively stepped back. I felt my knees go weak, but my father caught me and shoved me forward before I could fall.
"Behave yourself before your husband, Kyra," Father announced, shocking me to my core.
"Husband?!" I looked at him, stunned.
Tears welled in my eyes as I realized why I was called outside.
My father had sold me to the Devil Alpha for the sake of his Pack and home.
"When you're done, bring her to me," Alpha Roderick said, walking past with his eyes on me.
I trembled at his cold gaze. I couldn't marry that man.
Once he was gone, I dropped to my knees, crawled towards my father and held his feet.
“Father, please,” I begged. “Don’t make me go with him
"Is it because of the ring? I'll look for it, Father. I'll find it, I promise!" I cried.
"I'll do anything! I'll work with the servants, wash with the Omegas… anything! Father, please, I'd rather die than go with him!" I pleaded, not minding the looks the Pack members gave me.
"If you say you'd do anything, then go with your husband! He has paid for you. You have no choice," Father concluded.
I fell to the ground, devastated.
"See this as a chance to be useful to your people for once. You're bringing peace by being his Luna. Don't bring us any more shame," my stepmother reprimanded, digging her fingers into my arms.
She dragged me towards the guards, and with a signal from Father, the guards pulled me away, taking me to meet Alpha Roderick.
I thrashed and screamed for help, but no one cared.
"Father, please! I don't want to go!" I cried, but no one listened to my pleas. They all acted like I never existed, and that shattered me even more.
The guards brought me before Alpha Roderick, who had seen the whole drama between me and my family.
His red eyes darted to me, chilling me to my bones. He grabbed my wrist tightly and whispered.
“You are my bride now, Kyra. I own you.”
Goddess! I've been given out to the devil himself as a bride.
Kyra’s POVJust like that, the power of different dimensions roared around the chamber as Alpha met Alpha. Norway did not want to back off; he rather fought savagely, and just watching him, I could see how desperate he was in his fight, anchoring his strength. But Roderick, on the other hand, was relentless, controlled, yet devastating.I watched them, then went numb, as Roderick suddenly overpowered him, and in a blink, he slammed him into the ground.Norway started coughing up blood, then his eyes met mine. “Kyra… I...”Roderick didn’t hesitate, not even a second. Then, the next thing I knew, Norway lay still on the floor, lifeless and completely cold. That was when Roderick remembered me; then he rushed to my side, all the fury surprisingly draining from his face.“Kyra,” he started softly, dropping to his knees beside me. “I’m here for you.”I stared blankly at him through tears, as I remembered everything that had been happening to me, my heart shattering and also reborn all at o
Kyra’s POVMy wolf rose fully then, no longer staying silent within me and watching them torment me, no longer sleeping.‘Enough of all this,’ she roared. I shifted into my wolf—not fully, but enough to get claws all over my palms, enough that my eyes burned silver-white, showing that my wolf was at work. Well, I wasted no time in lunging toward them. The vampire lord was calculating as he moved first, carefully anticipating my moves. It was actually a blur of pale speed, but even then, I was able to slam him so hard into the far wall with just a flick of my hand. The stones there started cracking, but he hissed, his fangs bared. Myra screamed in panic, eyes widening in horror. Elder Rowan raised his hands, signaling that I would listen to whatever he wanted to say. “Wait... Kyra, listen...” I didn’t waste time in flinging him aside like he weighed nothing. Jessani took that opportunity to run away, but she didn’t get far. I didn’t apply much energy to her; I simply grabbed he
Kyra’s POV “You are the one who tried to kill me,” I said.“No. I only tried to claim what rightfully belongs to me. What Norway promised me,” she replied coolly. “You were in the way of my possession and needed to be removed.”My father cleared his throat, suddenly announcing his presence. “Enough of that. Let’s focus on the more important things.”I turned to him, my heart aching so badly—in a way I hadn’t felt since childhood, since I left the Pack for them. “You did this too, to get what you always wanted.”He met my gaze, holding it for a few seconds without shame. “I always knew you were special right from the first day I set my eyes on you.”“I’m your daughter, for crying out loud,” I whispered, wishing I didn’t have to explain myself.“You were only an experiment for us,” he corrected. That changed everything, making me doubt my existence. Then, as I was still thinking about my life, Elder Rowan stepped forward, clapping slowly like he had come prepared.“You see now,” he sai
Kyra’s POV“I don’t even want to talk about Roderick right now,” I said. Norway just sighed and sat beside me, like he understood why I wanted to be by myself. He was sitting close enough that I could feel his body heat—too close. I almost lost my temper.“Kyra,” he murmured as he leaned in closer, “I took you away from that dungeon of his Pack because I love you. Because staying there would have ended up destroying you and everything you represent.”I laughed softly, but it was a bitter laugh. “You didn’t ask me if that’s what I wanted for myself.”“You didn’t need to be asked, because your stubbornness would never permit you to agree to be helped,” he said. “You needed to be saved, and someone had to do it, irrespective of what that would do to your ego.”He slowly reached for my hair, and I didn’t resist, so he stylishly brushed my cheek with his fingers. My wolf recoiled within me violently, already alert because she sensed danger. I stood up at once, not waiting even a second, my
“Look at me,” I said to Sarah. She hesitated for a few seconds, and funny enough, that was all I needed to work with.“Stand,” I ordered, still calmly. She rose slowly to her feet, her hands shaking at her sides.“You served Luna Kyra closely,” I began. “And you have been loyal to her?” I asked.“Yes,” she whispered. “I have been loyal to her.”“Were you truly loyal, or have you forgotten so soon?” I asked quietly. She swallowed hard—not once, not twice, not even for the fifth time. “I swear, I did to the best of my ability.”I stood up immediately, and that caused the room to shrink. Everyone around was literally shaking the moment I stepped down from the throne.“Then answer me this very simple question,” I said, stopping in front of her. “You were with her just before she left the Pack, what did you discuss last when you last saw her?” I asked, taking note of her body language. “And be careful not to lie to me this time.”Her lips parted like she had something to say, but no words
Roderick’s POV“Alpha… you should at least sit.” I barely heard Beta Ray’s voice from the background, as my eyes were completely fixed on the parchment in my hands, my fingers trembling so hard the paper shook with them.“I said sit,” Ray repeated, firmer now, and in a more commanding tone like he was the one in charge.“Don’t tell me what to do in my Pack,” I snapped, my voice breaking beyond control despite my effort to sound in control. The letter stared back at me like an open wound, something I never expected. “Alpha Roderick, I know everything now. I know what my wolf carries, and what it can do. I know everything that you planned to do to me once you get hold of the treasure in me. I refuse to die loving the man who sharpened the knife meant for my back, while pretending we were together.”As I finished reading it, my chest almost burst from pain. “She knows everything now,” I whispered to no one in particular.Ray frowned in confusion. “Know what exactly, my Alpha?”I laug
