LOGINKyra's POV
I've heard and seen how young girls like me are given to their mates with love, in a beautiful manner.
I've always wished to go through the werewolf bonding ritual with the one the goddess fated for me, but now, my destiny has been changed forever.
I've been sold to Alpha Roderick like a slave. A tool to be used any time it's needed.
This is no love at all.
After leaving the Redwood Pack, Alpha Roderick brought me back to his Pack, Devil's Bay.
I've heard rumors of many entering this Pack and never returning.
Some said once you stepped into the devil's den, there was no way of returning to the entrance. Others claimed that the people would feast on the flesh of the newcomer, so they couldn't find their way out.
But I feel like my soul is already leaving my body, and I haven't even been torn apart yet.
The Pack was dark as they described it. The faces of the people looked pale, like those in need of blood.
All of these troubled my heart until we arrived at the Alpha's mansion.
When we stepped in, I found about twenty to thirty servants at the entrance, with all heads bowed at Alpha Roderick, in a straight line.
It felt like a cult, especially with the theme of his home, and it spiked more fear into me.
"So, I'm in the devil's den?" I asked no one in particular. My eyes hovered around while I followed Alpha Roderick.
“Take her to her room," he ordered without looking at me.
Two maids walked up to me quickly, directing me to a darker part of the mansion.
I felt chills all over as we walked through the hallway. It was like walking through the tunnels of hell.
"Welcome to your new home, Luna," one of the maids said sweetly to me.
I didn't know how to respond to that, but looking at the way they smiled, I couldn't help but give a small smile.
They took me into a very large room—larger than my bedroom back at home.
"Make yourself comfortable. We'll return with a nice dress and your meal."
"You can use the bathroom there to freshen up."
They both smiled at me before leaving the room.
When they were gone, I fell to my knees, tears streaming down my cheeks.
My heart was heavy, and I couldn't believe my biological father could sell me without any care in the world.
"Why, father?" I wept bitterly, covering my face.
"All I ever wanted was for you to love me, but you never did. You never showed me care," I cried, remembering all the harsh treatments from my father right from childhood.
He has always favoured my stepmom and Myra. He gave them all they needed, but never showed me any love.
His actions today have shown me my place in his life.
I was nobody to him.
I sat on the ground, my legs folded and my chin resting on my knee, and I thought about my life.
The thought of showering didn't interest me, not even eating moved me. The only thing I wanted was to die and leave this world for good.
"That way I can find peace," I sniffed, still sitting on the floor.
Not too long after, I heard the sound of the door opening. I looked and saw the maids from earlier. They were back.
They brought a black night robe and a tray of food. When they saw me, they asked if I had taken my bath, but I didn't give them an answer.
"My lady, the Alpha won't be pleased if he sees you like..." she paused.
I noticed how they both looked at each other with fear, dropping the things they had and leaving the room in haste.
What was that?
I wanted to go and find out what the problem was, but the door opened once again and two glowing red eyes fell on me.
Fear engulfed me at once, and I stepped back.
"Why haven't you changed?" He growled.
He stepped in and shut the door behind him.
My body started vibrating after I saw what he had on. He only wore a pair of trousers. His chest was bare.
"What… What are you doing?" I stammered, drawing back further.
He growled at me before ordering, "Undress."
"What?" My eyes widened at his command.
What does he mean by that?
I thought I'd heard wrong, not until his deep voice loudly said, "Take off your clothes!"
I took another step back.
"No, I... I can't do that," I refused. I shook my head, still moving backwards.
"No? Did you just say no to me?" He lifted one of his brows.
I didn't know whether to nod or speak out. I was too shocked to do either.
I wanted to repeat my words when Alpha Roderick appeared before me in a flash, grabbing me by the jaw.
He gripped me tightly, using his other hand to pull me close to him.
I stared into his bloody eyes as he showed his displeasure at my refusal.
"I don't take no for an answer, Kyra. You seem to have forgotten that you belong to me now. I’m your husband. This is our wedding night. You better behave yourself or I'll make you pay," he threatened.
He tightened his grip around my jaw, dragged me to the bed and tossed me onto it. I tried to lift myself off quickly, but Roderick came on me with speed.
One of his hands pinned both of my hands down on the bed, while the other grabbed my dress.
"No, let me go!" I shouted, trying to fight him off.
He almost ripped my dress off, but I swung my legs at him, and he moved back.
I was a bit surprised but also relieved.
I immediately got out of bed and yelled at him while dragging myself to a corner.
"Don't come near me, you monster! I’m not your wife nor your bride!"
I made it clear to him.
My heart pounded as I stared at the powerful man feared by many.
Kyra's POV Alpha Roderick took a few steps away from me, his shoulders tense. He clenched his fist so hard I was sure they would leave imprints in his palm. I could see the throbbing veins in his neck as he glared at me, red-faced. "I'm...I'm sorry," I whispered and bolted out of the room. I kept glancing over my shoulder to check if he was coming after me, but he didn't come after me.I had refused Alpha Roderick again. I knew he wouldn't take it well. He would probably hang me this time, burn me at the stake, or even parade me in front of the entire pack but I didn't care. I couldn't mate with him, no matter what. But I was scared for Sarah. I didn't want him to pour his anger on her because of me.The question that kept running through my mind now was; why didn't he chase after me? He could have easily forced me to mate with him but he didn't.Was there something I was missing? Something I failed to see? As I reached my room, I slammed the door and leaned against it, trying to c
Kyra's POV I shook my head, clinging to my lie, though I knew it was painfully obvious I was lying. I didn't know how to handle situations like this. It always made me panic, but the fact that I wasn’t crying like a child yet was progress."No, it wasn't Sarah," I said, trying to sound convincing. I rubbed my knees together to stop myself from trembling."So you admit that someone helped you, just not Sarah?" I winced. I didn't like these mind games."No one helped me escape, Alpha Roderick." Roderick's face turned red with rage, and his eyes bulged out of their sockets. I swallowed hard, rubbing my wrists and knees nervously. They were probably red by now. Don’t lie to me, Kyra!” he thundered, his voice echoed through the room, and I flinched. Goosebumps prickled my skin, and sweat dampened my forehead.“I know it was her. I know she’s been helping you. The fake injury, her hurting you to cover it up, only confirmed my suspicions. “Bring her in!” he roared, each word dripping w
Kyra's POV Roderick left the room looking utterly horrified.I chased after him, but by the time I stepped out the door, he was gone. How did he disappear so fast? It was like he was never in the room with me."What's going on?" I asked one of the guards who hurried past me, but he didn't answer. It seemed like they had other urgent things to attend to that were more important than answering my naive questions. The pack warriors stood in lines like they were ready for battle. They had formed a strong defence, their eyes fixed intently on something in the distance. I followed their gaze but saw nothing."What's going on?" I asked another guard nearby, my voice almost a whisper. If nothing else scared me, the tension in the air and their blatant disregard of my questions did. I remembered how Roderick had left earlier… It was alarming. The guard's face was grim, and his eyes scanned the area nervously. "Rogues, Luna," he finally answered. "They're attacking the pack." “Rogues?” "H
Kyra's POV “You’ll stay here from now on.”Roderick's declaration still echoed in my mind. I was stunned by the way he blurted it out. I never imagined Roderick and I would be staying in the same room.He came back to the room like nothing had happened. I wanted to ask who that man was and what had happened, but I reminded myself that I didn't have that right. I was just the powerless Luna he bought. He sat down beside me comfortably like a king. “About earlier… it was a matter I needed to attend to,” he said softly.“And you don't think I need to know about it?” I asked, unable to hide my curiosity.“It's nothing you should be worried about,” he replied casually, making me even more curious.Who was that man? I've never seen him before. What did they discuss? Roderick stood up and moved towards the adjoining door in his bedroom, which I suspected led to his bathroom.I wondered what he was trying to do. “Maybe he still wants to test if I'll give in to his demands. He probably t
Kyra's POV Rodrick carried me back to the mansion with a determination that both frightened and intrigued me. His grip was firm, but not painful. The only pain I felt was the ache in my heart.I didn't know why I felt like this, but I knew something terrifying had just happened. I could feel his muscles tense beneath his clothes as he carried me.The guards and servants quickly stepped aside the moment they saw us. I could see that their eyes were filled with both fear and awe as they stared at their Alpha, soaked in blood, looking like the Devil they claimed he was, with me in his arms. "Alpha, thank the goddess you're okay. We were very worried," Beta Ray said."I'm fine, and I caught up with Alpha Norway just in time," he replied."Is he dead?""No, just wounded. He and his men fled."My mind was still reeling with all the events that had happened today. My head hurts when I think about it.Norway's attack, the brutal fight, the beheading within seconds, and Roderick’s declarati
Kyra’s POV Roderick punished me again for refusing him. This time, he made sure I had nothing to eat and I wasn't allowed to step out of the dungeon.I've been locked up for a whole day, and I was starting to feel dizzy and faint from starvation.Sarah couldn't come and see me either.Roderick stationed a guard at the entrance of the dungeon to stop anyone from seeing me. The guard stopped her and sent her back when she came to visit. I'm sure she must've hidden some food in her clothes, but she couldn't get past him.So, I have to agree to Roderick's demand before I'm allowed to eat?I wondered if I could die from starvation because I felt like dying at this point.I missed my late mother. If she were alive, none of this would be happening to me. I cried, as memories of her peaceful face the day she passed away flooded me. I was so little then, but I could still recall that painful day. Sometimes, I wished I had died with her that day. "I would've slept beside you, Mom, while you
