KAIDEN

Never before had I felt such bliss. Her body was calling to me. Her blood was calling to me like a siren song.

Faith.

“Fuck,” I growled as she clenched around me, and I thrust harder.

She arched into me further, and I licked at her neck, fighting my every instinct and my wolf’s insistence that I sink my teeth into her flesh.

The subtle saltiness to her skin from her run and the desire coming from her every pore was intoxicating, and I slid my palm down her thigh, hitching her leg up higher as my teeth scraped against her neck again, almost breaking the skin.

My eyes squeezed tighter shut as I fought my wolf to keep control. It was a losing battle, though. He was too strong and too insistent on making her his. The blood bond was as strong as it could get, with both of us consuming the other’s blood, but I knew I couldn’t form a true mate bond with her.

She wasn’t here to be my Luna, and I didn't want one.

Like she could sense my thoughts, her body tensed, her back lowered to

FAITH“He will never bow to you!” I screamed, kicking harder, trying to get the grip on my ankle to release. It wasn’t a person, a rope, or a chain, though. It was magic, and the only way to fight magic was with magic. My head turned from side to side as I tried to focus, but the terror washing through me was too great. My head bounced as I was yanked over another pile of bones and decaying flesh, and I focused on the first witch that I could see. She dropped to the ground, grabbing her head before I moved down the row to the next one. One by one, they withered in pain, but it wasn’t as strong as I would have liked. They were resisting, but I was unable to give them my complete focus as the invisible hold on my ankle tightened. “You will ALL bow to me!” Cain screamed as I was flipped back over. I could see the full moon above, only the light from it looked different, casting a moody glow. We didn’t have much time left. We would be in line with the sun and moon soon, and Cain would

FAITH Cain's army had parted for me to enter the guarded land before closing in behind me. I eyed the wolves with unease as I walked forward alone. I was being led like a lamb to the slaughter, but I was no longer afraid of them. My magic was mine again, my wolf was back, and I was furious.Having to work with Mila for the past few days, I was ready to rip someone’s head off and was grateful that her presence alone had been able to convert my worry into anger.Even if Cain didn’t die by my hands tonight, I was going to enjoy every second of seeing his downfall. A low growl from behind me made me turn, and I glared as one of the wolves snapped at my heels to get me to walk faster. Instead, I surprised him, turning and kicking his muzzle. He jerked back a foot as he shook his head before snarling at me, crouching down as if to attack. “Ah, ah, ah,” I tsked. “Your owner is waiting for me.”His body convulsed as I sent the smallest push of power toward him, and several others moved

KAIDENMy head was low, ears back as I slunk through the forest. My pack was surrounding me, all spread out, silent and deadly as we approached the first fallen building. The power of the kingdom we had once come from was still noticeable, thrumming through the air and fueling my beast as if it were welcoming me home. My pack stayed close to the buildings, hiding in the shadows from the moonlight while I strode right down the middle of the walkway. I could already smell the witches and could feel the other pack’s presence. My men cut down their patrols one by one behind me, coating the overgrown grass with their blood, announcing our presence. It was a good sign for me and embarrassing for the enemy that they hadn't spotted my pack until we had already passed them. They thought they were prepared to take me and my people down, but they forgot one thing. There was nothing more dangerous than a wolf whose mate was in danger. Faith may not be my soulmate, but she was mine in every se

KAIDEN I stood on the balcony, staring over my pack land as I tried to calm my beast. We hadn’t heard from Will in several days, not since telling me Faith was safe, and that she had completed the impossible task of getting my mother to agree to work with her. Knowing it hadn’t been easy, I only loved Faith more for it. I had seen my mother several times over the past few years. The first time had been the hardest, but I had handed over the white wolf I had rescued and left. She hadn’t seemed to want to hold a conversation with me, nor I with her. After the first few visits, she stopped showing up and would send someone else in her place to collect whoever I was freeing. Usually, it was the elder who volunteered to meet me. She had been in communication with me, occasionally passing along cryptic letters from my mother that said nothing about me or Nova and only discussed their goal of restoring the crown. I could count on two hands the number of times I had seen her in person si

FAITHNothing was sitting right with me. There were too many secrets, too many variables, and too much for us to do in the few days we had left. “What are your thoughts?” I asked under my breath to Will as I glanced around, trying to memorize the location of every building and every pathway between them. This was the best and most detailed map that anyone could ask for to prepare for war, and yet, we were going to lose because Mila's pride was in the way. “I don’t like it.” He whispered, and I nodded. Mila and the rest of the rebel army commanders were huddled together, whispering amongst themselves as if they didn’t want me to hear them, but now that I had my wolf back, I could hear everything.None of it sat well with me. All of it involved leaving Nova in Cain’s hands for the next few days until the eclipse. Although, I also couldn’t find a solution to break her out before then. She would be chained up on his land, and more than likely would be under wards. It would be impossi

FAITHThe paper crumbled slightly in my pocket as we walked, and though I kept my eyes set straight ahead, I could see Mila, turning to stare at me with suspicion. She had been adamant that I not try to communicate with Kaiden. She even went as far as to stop Will when I tried to have him leave the pack land to use his link. The yelling match that happened after that earned me no favors with Kaiden’s mother, and even though I knew their relationship would probably never be mended, I still felt guilty that I couldn't get along with the mother of the man I loved. When I tried to sneak off during the night, I found that guards were waiting for me outside the hut they had let me use, with a very grumpy Will being one of them. He was shooting death glares at the others the entire time, angry that they were so close to me while I was sleeping, which actually made me feel safe. It reminded me of the look Kaiden got in his eyes when he was angry. I knew when he got that look that he would b
