FAITH Within a few minutes of Kaiden leaving, I was dressed and opening the hidden panel in the wall by our bed. If he thought I wasn’t going to follow him and be a part of this, he was so wrong. Even if I wasn’t directly in the conversation, they were discussing my life and my future. He should damn well expect me to want to hear what was said about whether I would live or die.I moved through the walls silently, counting each turn until I reached the stairs and then tracked the rooms I was passing with my fingers trailing across the dirty wall. When I reached where I thought the briefing room should be, I pressed my ear to it, listening closely for a moment, and was relieved to hear Kaiden’s voice. I waited a beat until he started talking again before opening it just enough that I could look through the crack. Anyone who looked in my direction would be able to see the wall was open, though, so it wasn’t my best plan, but it was all I had. The light was off in the briefing room,
FAITH My eyes closed as I leaned into him. “I haven’t felt like this in years,” I whispered with a small smile as he pulled me tighter against his chest. It was like all of the weight and responsibility of the world vanished for a long moment as I listened to him take in a deep breath. I couldn’t think about anything else besides him, the man who loved me and freed me to ensure my safety. "Like what?" "Like I can breathe again." I sighed, my hands fisting the shirt over his sides. “Faith,” the breathy whisper of my name sent a shiver down my spine, and I pressed closer to him. “I do… choose you, I mean. I do. If you still want me when this is all over.” “I will always want you, no matter what happens.” The deep growl of his words made my eyes close with pleasure, and I sighed with contentment as he pressed his lips to mine, stoking the fire once again. Even his touch felt more electrifying, and I leaned in until I was flush against his body. I moaned as his tongue slid
FAITH Fireworks exploded between us, my skin buzzing with power and warmth as he kissed me deeply and lovingly. I couldn’t even begin to understand what had been in my head before that made me resist kissing him. His soft lips, his touch… his taste. Fuck, he was addicting. My heart crashed into my chest as I pulled him closer, my fingers curling around his shirt tightly. I love you. I love you. I love you. I could hear his voice on repeat in my head, and I never wanted to forget it. The amulets between us warmed, but it only encouraged me to press closer, craving the warmth and the pulse of power he was unconsciously sending me. I moaned as I slid my hands up his chest to tangle in his soft hair, and he held me tighter to him. I could kiss him for hours, days even, and never be sick of him. My toes curled as I felt how aroused he was, and I started to lift my leg to wrap it around him when he pulled back suddenly. His eyes glazed over, and his body tensed. Someone wa
FAITHGods.“I need you,” He repeated, and my breathing picked up as his thumbs brushed back and forth along my cheekbones before one dropped down to my mouth, pulling my bottom lip down slightly. “They are right, though, Kaiden. I can fight for you, but Cain…” “I will handle Cain, and I don’t need you to do anything for me or the pack, Faith.” He said, and I felt my shoulders fall. I was relieved, but I didn’t know why. “But,” I whispered, wanting to help in any way I could, even if he wasn’t planning on using me anymore. I had powers that could help. We just needed the Alliance to see that before they made their decision. “I need you safe, Faith. I won’t let them near you.” He said, and my hands landed on his chest, taking in his warmth as he moved even closer. I couldn’t get enough of this man. Everything about him called to me, and I wanted to hold on as tightly as I could, but that wasn’t realistic. We had to come up with a plan because either I would be executed or his ent
FAITHMy hand moved up to grab the side of my throbbing face as Kaiden released me, spinning me around to put me behind him as he turned to Broderick. “Out of the question,” Kaiden said, his voice coming out low and deadly as he stepped toward Broderick. "I speak for all of us when I say..." Broderick started, but Kaiden cut him off. "No! You don't." Kaiden growled, and my free hand moved to grab the back of his shirt as black dots blurred my vision from the hit I had taken. "Speaking on behalf of another Alpha requires a written order that..." "Is not possible right now." Broderick snapped, and I could feel Kaiden's anger increasing at Broderick's disrespect and audacity. Where did he get off, thinking he could interrupt another Alpha unless he thought he was above them? Which, in hindsight, was entirely possible, as he had just tried to speak for others. I wanted to ask what it was he was demanding, but from Kaiden's reaction to it, I probably didn't want to know. It was evid
KAIDEN I threw my head back as I laughed long and hard. Broderick’s face was red with anger by the time I was finished, and I felt lighter than before. The pain wasn’t as intense, and the wall between Faith and me was crumbling, making me feel uneasy. “I do not recall it being any of your place to vote on the execution of an innocent in my care. My bound. My woman.” I leaned forward. “It would be a shame if any of you were to violate our treaty and kill one of my pack members without them causing your pack harm to warrant it.” “It is for the good of all of our packs, Kaiden. Surely, you have to be reasonable enough to see that.” He said, his voice getting deeper. “Did you miss the part where I said she was mine? She isn’t just my Bound, Broderick. She. Is. Mine.” I growled, my beast coming forward. Faith may have been brought here as a pawn in this war to be used against Cain, but he was right. The best way to use her against him now was to eliminate her as a source of power, a
