~Maxim~

Looking around the pack did no good, but I wasn't under the impression that it would. I knew before we got here that Alayasia wasn't here, and I'm sure that Geoffroy knew that too. What I can't figure out is why bother with the charade? Why walk in here as if we are going to find that they are being above board with us?

I follow behind the group, making sure to keep up my grieving husband's act when needed. When they weren't looking, I was checking out the local talent. I'm not going to lie… there are some good sights to see.

We are leaving the training grounds, and at this point, I just want to rip the pack to pieces. I make sure there's a good distance between myself and the rest of the group before I start walking. My arm is pulled aggressively, making me stop in my tracks. I take a step back, letting my eyes follow from the hand on me to the body it's attached to. Goddess above!

I clear my throat, hoping to sound more put together than I feel. “Can I help you?” She retrac

  • Changing Her Fate   Where is Alayasia?

I shoot up in bed as soon as ice water touches me. I gasp like a fish, trying to figure out what the hell is going on. I remember sitting on the bed, contemplating how I got myself into this mess. I must have fallen asleep, but clearly I’m not sleeping anymore. Alpha Montgomery stands in the doorway with a bucket in one hand. He has a smirk on his face that I wish I could wipe off. I throw the fabric off of me because there’s no way you can call it a blanket. I stand to my feet, shivering as the cold air wraps around me. “Let’s go.” He turns and walks off, and I have no choice but to follow him. We walk through a dark hallway with one light bulb at the end. I can’t really see since this damn chain is keeping Clover away. I have to hope that I don’t bump into him while we walk. When we get to the end of the hallway, we walk up a set of stairs. I’m pretty sure that I’m in some kind of basement, but it’s the biggest one I’ve ever been in. I wonder if I’m in the packhouse or if he has

  • Changing Her Fate   Alone

~Houston~I'm taking a moment since Zara is napping. She was sad that her mom wasn't around, but there was also a strange calmness. I'm not sure what that's about, but I'll address it later. We've been back for a few hours now. I couldn't stay there long. I kept reliving the night we had together, when she finally gave herself to me. My finger kept grazing my mark, making me wish I had been able to reciprocate. I set up a room next to mine on my floor. I want Zara to be close, but I also want her to have her privacy. I will care for her as my own because, no matter what, she is mine. Zara is my daughter in the only way that matters. Even if I never see Zara again, she will always have a home with me. I hear my door open, and his scent enters the room. I know why he's here, but I'm not sure I can entertain him. “I don't want to talk.” He’s seated in front of me, but my head is back and my eyes are on the ceiling. “Fortunately for me, I rank higher than you, so it doesn't matter wha

  • Changing Her Fate   Make A Call

~Geoffroy~I wasn't going to tell the idiot, but I came to the conclusion that I had to. We can't stay here forever, and I know that when they realize she's missing, they will come for us. We need a place to keep here.I'm not the type of Alpha to place nice with others. Any allies I have are all plotting behind my back. I don't make friends because I don't want everyone in my business. I'm going to have to have my son-in-law house her, much to my dismay. My daughter has just stunned her husband into silence, which I find funny. He's sitting on a chair, looking lost. Alayasia has moved. Settling against a wall with her body pulled in tightly. I smell her fear all over the room, and I love it. It's good to know that her little time away didn't help her grow a spine. She still understands how things work and what won't be tolerated. “You need to find a place to keep her.” The silence in the room stretches, causing me to roll my eyes. I walk over to him and repeatedly snap my fingers on

  • Changing Her Fate   Lost

My head is hanging to my chest, and tears are pouring out of my eyes. The note is clutched in my hands, feeling like a heavy weight. I’ve read it over and over again, but I still don’t get it. I don’t understand what happened while I was gone; I don't know why she left. The note is nothing but apologetic, but I don’t give a damn about that. She says that she has to go, and she didn’t know if she would be coming back. She told me not to look for her because she wouldn’t be able to be found. She asked me to look after our child, our daughter. Every time I see that part, the tears start all over again. She said to raise her well and make sure that I help her remember her mother. She wants me to keep her safe and help her be the best she can, despite the disability. She says to tell Zara that she loves her every day. She thanked me for saving them and for helping her grow. That’s it. There’s nothing left in the letter. My heart hurts, and I don’t know how to heal it. I feel his presenc

  • Changing Her Fate   Keeping Them Safe

~Alayasia~I’ve been watching the warriors, clocking their rotations. I’ve noticed every little move they made and how they interact with the surrounding area. I’m pretty sure I will be able to slip out of here when I need to. My only obstacle is what to do with Zara. A touch on my arm makes me jump out of my skin. I turn my head to find him sheepishly looking at his feet, while rubbing the back of his head. “Hey, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to frighten you.” I swallow and nod. “I just wanted to let you know that I got a call from Houston.” My body reacts immediately. “What… what did he say?” I don’t know why I asked. He’s been trying to get in touch with me on a phone that was left for me. I’ve received texts and calls, but I’ve ignored them all. I don’t know what to say to him, so there was no reason to acknowledge the attempts at contact. “He said he’ll be here in the morning. He wasn’t going to come, but he changed his mind. He said he has to talk to you about a couple of things.”

  • Changing Her Fate   Her Mark

~Alayasia~I’ve been a mess since last night. I never went back to sleep, fearing that I would see all of that again. I went from thinking it was a horrible image that my imagination conjured up to knowing that it is prophesy if I don’t go back to them. Alayasia, please, don’t do this. Just tell Houston. He will protect us. You saw what will happen, you saw what I did. What about Zara, huh? Are you really willing to make her live like that again? She’s been thriving since we left, and you want ot make her go back?! Clover has been on me since the early hours of light in the sky. I see her point, I do, but this is bigger than that. I will say that the one thing I’ve been trying to figure out is what to do with Zara. Clover is right, she can’t go back to living like that. I can’t let her deal with that all over again. She’s my little girl, my heart, and I will do anything within my power to make sure that she’s safe and happy. If that means that I have to let her go, that’s exactly w
