THIRTY FOUR: BOXES

He smirked, “We start tomorrow.”

I raised a brow in doubt, “Don’t you have work to do tomorrow morning?”

He raised his hand making me slightly flinch and his rough finger trailed down the line of my jaw. My body trembled under his touch when he said, “You have all my time, Avery.” it was a soft, seductive whisper that made me blush.

Great, now I was blushing. What would be next? Sitting on his lap?

I was disappointed with how my body reacted when he came close. Dominic definitely took advantage of it.

I was in a forest. It looked vaguely familiar but I couldn’t recollect where I had seen it. It was the time of night, the tree foliage obstructing the moonlight to fall on the lap of the earth. Suddenly, a rustling sound came from the back and I snapped my head to find the branch of a nearby tree jerking.

I took a few steps back, my heart pulsating in my ears. And just then, a creature wrapped in a blanket of pitch darkness stepped out of the tree. Its face and body were
