I was relieved to leave that VIP room. It felt like I could finally breathe again after dealing with Boss Yael's friends, especially Mr. VIP. Even now, I'm still thinking about what Thomas said. What could that mean?
Mr. VIP's stare earlier felt like it had something behind it. I'm not assuming, but that's truly how I felt. His gaze seemed to reach deep into my soul, like he was observing every move of my body. It wasn’t creepy, but it was certainly confusing. I don’t know what to think about that man—why does he look at me like that?
Sigh, I ended up drinking three shots of tequila because I couldn't stop thinking about him.
"Athena."
I had only been sitting at the bar counter for five minutes when I heard Boss Yael's voice again. What could he possibly need from me now? I really didn’t want to go back to the VIP room. I might get grilled by his friends again.
"Yes? Boss Yael, what do you need?" I asked, forcing a smile.
"I need your help," he said, which surprised me.
"Boss Yael, are you sure you want me to take him home?" I asked when we finally reached the outside of the bar.
He needed my help to take home Mr. VIP. Yes, him. I couldn’t understand why he chose me for this task, especially since I wasn’t exactly close to him. He's my boss, so I had to obey, but taking home his drunk friend wasn’t part of my job.
"Yes, you already know the address, right? Don't worry, after you take him home, you can go home," he replied.
"Huh? But boss, my shift isn't over yet," I said in surprise.
"Don't worry about that, okay? Just take him home to his condo, then you can go home. There's a security guard at his condo, just ask for his help and let him handle him," he said, then glanced at his friend in the taxi who was already asleep from drunkenness.
"But boss-"
"You’ll handle him, okay? Thank you, Athena. I'll give you a higher salary at the end of the month," he said while walking back into the bar. It felt like he didn't care how he treated me. Is he really my boss and professor?
"Yes, not only is he my boss, he's also my professor in history, so I'm extra nice to him because if I'm not, I might fail his class.
I was stomping my feet in frustration, and I felt like crying too. If he weren't my boss, I would have probably punched him by now. He really made me do all of this. And his friends—ugh! They just left him there and didn't even bother to take him home.
"Thank you," I thanked the taxi driver when he helped me get my companion out of the car when we arrived at this guy's condo.
"Tsk! You're heavy, get yourself together!" I said in annoyance as I started walking, supporting Mr. VIP, who I still didn't know the real name of.
He had his arm clung around me, but every step we took felt wobbly because of his height and weight. I'm so small, and he's like a six-footer. What could I do against a guy like him?
I started feeling a little dizzy from the drinks I had. Just three glasses, but it hit me hard.
"Where’s the security guard? What am I supposed to do?" I said in frustration, almost on the verge of tears, as we finally reached the entrance of the condo.
I should have just stopped here and gone home, but now how would I get back? There was no guard like Boss Yael had mentioned.
"Hey, what floor is your condo unit on?" I asked, tapping his face gently. He seemed to stir, turning to me, but his eyes were still half-closed.
Lord, he's so handsome, but he reeks of alcohol.
"Room 6... 6... 614." Wait, what did he say? 614?
"Room 614?" I asked, and he nodded as an answer. I helped him again towards the elevator. We both got in when it arrived, and I pressed the button for the 6th floor, where his condo was.
Ugh, I felt so tired because of him. It's frustrating. Boss Yael could've easily done this himself. They were the ones who drank together, and he's not even drunk, while I'm stuck being the one to help his friend. And I don't even know this guy well. Why would Boss Yael trust me to take care of his friend?
When the elevator doors opened, I helped him out again. My steps were slow because I didn’t want us both to fall. If he got hurt, I’d be the one blamed, and I definitely didn’t want that. I could even lose my job because of him.
"Hey, password," I said, tapping his cheek again.
He immediately woke up but kept his eyes closed as his hand reached for the door. Why not just tell me the password and let me press it? But no, he didn’t trust me. Though, I could still see the password even if he didn't say it.
"Close your... eyes," he said when he noticed I was looking at his hand.
He’s so stingy, but I didn’t argue. I just closed my eyes so this would be over, and I could leave.
Suddenly, the door beeped and opened. Thank goodness, even though he was drunk, he could still remember the numbers.
I helped him inside his condo. Even though it was dark, he somehow found the light switch. This guy was something else.
The lights came on, and I was finally able to see the layout of his condo. It was beautiful, even though it had a black-and-white theme, and there were only a few things displayed. The living room greeted me first, then on the right was the kitchen, and to the left, I think that was his bedroom.
"You should be fine now, I’ll be leaving," I said, letting go of him, but he stopped me by grabbing my arm, which really surprised me.
What was he planning to do? Surely, he didn’t have any bad intentions toward me, right?
"Please stay... j-just for a few minutes, please," he said in a pleading tone.
Oh my God, my heart.
I used to think that no man would ever like me, because I wasn’t someone who stood out, I had no appeal in the eyes of men, and I wasn’t that pretty. But I never thought there would be a man who secretly loved me. A man I never even asked God for, but He willingly gave to me. A man who loves me more than anything.Even though many trials came into our lives, in the end, it was still the two of us who ended up together, and who will be with each other for life. And I have nothing more to wish for than to be happy with him and to make our love for each other even stronger, so strong that no one can ever break it.“Mrs. Montero, Mr. Montero is calling for you downstairs,” I heard a female concierge say from behind me. I didn’t answer right away; instead, I let out a deep sigh and stretched both of my arms in the air.“All right, thank you. Please tell him I’m on my way down,” I replied before turning around and smiling at her.She immediately left, and I fixed myself up so I could head d
"So, when's the wedding?" Vanessa asked after taking a sip of her coffee. We were both at a coffee shop near the company. It was lunchtime, and I met up with my friend because she said she had some tea to share, but I suspected she was really just curious about what was happening in my relationship with Zach."What wedding? He hasn't proposed yet," I replied, taking a sip of my coffee."Then what's that supposed to mean?" she said, looking at the ring on my finger. I quickly hid it under the table and looked away."Didn't you say yesterday that he put that on your finger? Then he asked if you wanted to spend your life with him, and you said yes. So, how is that not a proposal?" she said, arms crossed and one eyebrow raised."I-I don't think...he didn't actually ask if I wanted to marry him," I said, annoyed, causing her to sigh loudly and cover her face.My friend was clearly stressed out by me.“Athena, my friend, that’s already one way of him proposing marriage to you,” she said in
I let out a deep sigh as I entered the company. I had just come from Aaron’s school to accompany him for lunch. His Aunt Rosa wasn’t with him, so even though it was a hassle for me to go there, I still did it because I didn’t want my son to eat alone.“Athena, good thing you’re here. Sir Zach has been looking for you,” Trixie greeted me as soon as I arrived on our department.I was surprised and a bit nervous because of what she said. I hadn’t informed Zach that I was leaving, but he did know I was going to see his son before lunch break.“Is he mad?” I asked, and she gave a small nod in response.Oh God, I’m in trouble.“He said he’s been calling you but you weren’t answering. Just go to his office.” And I immediately left after thanking her.I ran to the CEO’s office even though I was a bit tired from driving. He might get even angrier if I didn’t show up.When I got to his office, I knocked on the door right away, but I didn’t hear any response from inside. Could it be that he’s no
"Okay, sweetheart, I’ll just pick you up later," I said while focused on the report I was working on on my laptop.I was on the phone with my child who called to ask if his daddy and I would pick him up after class. But I’ll be the one to pick him up instead because Zach is planning to work overtime since he said he has something to finish. Aunt Rosa can’t pick him up either because she went back to our old place to get the rest of the things we left there."Listen to your teacher, okay? And put your phone inside your bag now. I love you."After saying goodbye, I ended the call and went back to what I was doing. But I suddenly smiled when I remembered what happened between Zach and me. I thought we would remain without a label, but it turns out that wasn’t the case. He didn’t want us to stay in that kind of situation either."Athena, there’s a man looking for you at the lobby," I heard Trixie say as she sat down at her desk. I didn’t know where she came from, but I think from the pant
What is she doing here? Why are they together? It’s not that I’m overthinking, but I couldn’t help but wonder and feel hurt seeing them together.“Uh, I-I didn’t know you had a… a visitor,” I said, looking in Lauren’s direction. She was also looking at me, but it was strange because she looked sad and her eyes were swollen, as if she had just been crying. I’m not used to seeing her like this. I’m not seeing the grumpy and evil Lauren now, but a sad and vulnerable Lauren. What happened to her? Why is she here?“It’s okay, she’ll leave soon anyway,” Zach answered before approaching me. He immediately hugged me when he reached me and kissed my forehead, which confused me.He’s acting weird, not because of his sweetness but because of what he said.“Why is she here? Why are you together?” I softly asked him. But he didn’t answer me; instead, he just smiled at me and kissed my forehead again.“You don’t have to be jealous, she’s here to talk to you,” he said, which surprised me.I looked t
"I just arrived at the company," I told her as I entered the main entrance.I was on the phone with Vanessa. She bothered me so early just to ask for an update. I still wanted to sleep, but I couldn't anymore because she kept pestering me."Are you with him? Did you come in together?" she asked, making me exhale deeply."I'm not with him. He left the house early because he had a private meeting at 7 a.m., so we didn't come in together," I replied as I walked toward the elevator.I was still yawning as I walked because I was really sleepy. It wasn't even 7 a.m. yet when she called me earlier. I don't know what's up with her. She called so early just to gossip with me.If she weren’t really my friend, I might’ve already hung up on her."Your future husband is so hardworking. So, any improvement in your relationship? What stage are you in now?" she said, clearly giddy. But I couldn’t answer because I didn’t know how to respond to her question."Stop it already, you're really crazy," I sc
