CHAPTER SIX

Lorenzo stared at her in shock. He didn't know how to respond. There was something about her today. She was like a snake who had shed off her skin.

He could swear that it was just yesterday that he had met her and she was scared to death. Now, she was acting like a different person. What happened to her? How could a person change so much in such a short space of time?

Lorenzo strode towards her and grabbed her by the waist. “I am going to give you exactly what you deserve, little Red. And then some!”

The music changed into a slow romantic song and Lorenzo pulled her close. Evie tried to break free but Lorenzo held her tight and pressed his body against hers. He wrapped his arms around her and started swaying to the beat, moving slowly to the music.

He was trying to show her that he could be gentle, when what he really wanted to do was rip her clothes off and fuck her senseless.

Evie couldn’t understand what the hell Lorenzo was doing. The man was practically begging to be slapped across his smug face.

“What's wrong with you?" she snapped. "You're acting like a horny teenager.”

“I’m trying to show you what you're missing out on. I mean, come on, you've been dying for this moment. Don't pretend otherwise. You know I'm right. We both have.”

She pushed against his chest and rolled her eyes. “Please we both know who has been waiting for this moment. It hasn't been me. It has been you. Asking me to be your escort. I know you paid for the dress I’m wearing. How much did it cost you?”

“Every penny because I knew you were going to look gorgeous in it. And look at you…” he said, twirling her around.

Evie felt her cheeks burn red but she kept her cool. "It doesn't matter how much I cost you, Lorenzo. You don't own me."

“Oh, but I do own you. Evie. You’re mine to own. All mine. To do whatever I wish with.”

“Is that right? So why are you making it sound like you are doing me a favor?”

Lorenzo stopped and looked at her. “What?”

“You pay good money for me, buy me everything I desire, yet you make me feel like I owe you something. I am not a whore, Lorenzo. I will never become one. Nor would I ever let you take advantage of me. I am not that kind of girl.”

Lorenzo growled. He was tired of hearing her talk down to him. He wanted her to admit that she wanted him. Wanted his cock inside her. That she craved his touch. He wasn't buying it.

“Don't flatter yourself. I only hire escorts for one reason and that is to bed them. I don't go for girls who think they're too good to be a prostitute."

“So you prefer your whores to be stupid?" Evie chuckled.

“Of course not.”

“Then what is the problem? Why are you angry that I’m not one of those dumb girls? Do you get turned off by smart women? Is that it? Did you expect me to be a bimbo? Well guess what, I am not! If anything, you should be thanking me.”

Lorenzo raised an eyebrow. "Thanking you for what?"

“For hiring me. For paying lots of money, so I can spend the night with you. I am helping you, Lorenzo. You know to ease off your childish ego. What do you have? Daddy issues? Were you abandon as a child? Or maybe you were a foster child growing up. Maybe you have some deep-rooted psychological problems that drive you to seek out women to screw? Who knows, but at least I am here to help you through it."

Lorenzo could swear Evie touched a nerve. His hand trembled as his hold on her waist tightened. If she didn’t stop with her witty-stuck up remarks, he might just lose control. He forced himself to relax. He needed to calm down before he did something he'd regret.

He released her waist and stepped away from her. "I really don't care what you say or think, Evie. You’re the one who was sold not me. You are nothing to me except a fucking whore. I can do whatever I want with you. I don't want you to think you can speak to me however you please. If you do that again, I will find someone else to fulfill my desires."

“I can see that,” she smirked. "You're pathetic. You couldn't seduce me if your life depended on it."

“I wouldn't need to try. You're already wet for me, aren't you?" Lorenzo leaned in closer. "I can smell your arousal all over you. You want me, don't you?"

Evie couldn’t deny it. She was turned on. The seductive red dress, the back and forth bickering between them, the fact that he was so into her…all of it had her body flushed and her panties soaked. God, she wanted him so bad. But she refused to act like a slut for him.

She was just about to defend herself when a waiter bumped into her knocking her off balance and spilling wine on the front of her dress.

“Shit!" she exclaimed, jumping back. Her heel slipped out from under her causing her to stumble.

As she caught her footing, Lorenzo swooped in and grabbed her arm. He pulled her close to him while the waiter apologized profusely.

“I’m so sorry,” he said. But his fear grew once he realized who was holding her. It was Lorenzo.

“I’m so sorry Sir,” the waiter immediately crashed to his knees and begged. “Please forgive me Mr Lorenzo. I swear I didn't see you there.”

The man was terrified.

Evie was surprised by the waiter’s reaction. She hadn't expected such a dramatic scene. It was obvious he made a genuine mistake but still, she was taken aback at the severity of his plea.

Who was Lorenzo, really? She wondered. A violent person? Was he truly capable of hurting this poor guy?

“I don’t think you have to kneel on your feet. It’s obvious you made a mistake,” Evie said, helping the waiter to his feet. She helped him pick up the fallen napkins and wiped the spilled wine with them.

“Yes, ma'am. Thank you, ma,” the young man replied nervously.

Lorenzo was taken back by how sweet and kind Evie was to the waiter. No lady he’d been with had ever done such a thing. They all acted high and mighty around him.

Lorenzo could see that Evie wasn’t like other girls. She was different. She was sweet, compassionate and tender.

“My pleasure. I hope you are okay,” she said softly to the waiter.

He looked up at her with tears in his eyes. "Yes ma. Do you think Mr Lorenzo will be mad at me?"

“Why would he be mad at you? You didn't cause this mess, did you?" The waiter shook his head. "No Ma'am. It was a mistake.”

She smiled encouragingly. “Good. Then why don’t you go ahead and clean up. You’ve got wine on your apron.”

With a shaky smile, the waiter nodded.

“Go on now,” she said gently.

He took a step forward and bowed low before scurrying away.

Evie turned to Lorenzo. "Are you really that scary? I mean that waiter was shaking in his boots."

“Not everyone can handle my wrath," he sneered.

Before she could respond, Lorenzo spoke. “You’ve got some stain on your dress. Let me take you to the bathroom so we can get it cleaned.”

Evie wanted to protest but knew there was no point. He was already leading her up his grand staircase.
