Hundred and Fifty Eight

After addressing the elders and coming to an agreement with them, Hailey and I headed home.

"How did you know where I was?" She asked as we drove home.

"I always know where to find you. I have my ways," I replied with a smile and then winked at her "So leaving me is not an option."

We sat in silence with Hailey appearing to be in deep thoughts, but after a while she spoke up, "Why did you do that?"

"Do what?" I knew what she meant but I decided to play ignorant.

"Why did you show up suddenly and in front of the elders at that?" She asked, closely staring at me.

"Are you perhaps ashamed of me?" I asked, turning to face her as the car came to a halt because of the traffic light.

"Of course, not!" Hailey was quick to refute the claim, "You know that's not possible, Carter. I was just surprised to see you there,"

I chuckled at Hailey's cuteness. I knew she could never be ashamed of me. I was merely joking.
