Blue Lake(PARKER POV)

I watched as Felicity’s figure disappeared into the Earth. My heart ached the further the plane ascended into the air. We had an amazing night, but this trip will be the longest we’ve spent apart since meeting. Even in the beginning, it was if there was a magnet pulling us together.

After we made love last night, I stayed awake watching her sleep. It’s been a while since I’ve struggled to sleep while holding her. I memorized every feature on her face. The light freckles that dotted her cheeks. Her beautiful, long lashes. The slight roundness to the tip of her nose. I listened to the sound of her breathing, watching her chest rise and fall with each breath. The wild curliness of her deep, auburn hair. I gently kissed her belly, letting Helena know that I would be back soon, and to take care of mommy while I was gone.

Sometimes I had to remind myself to cherish her. I get so wrapped up in the idea of saving them, that I forget my mate needs me.
