Prologue

UNKOWN POV

“I did as you asked. I found the safe room and programmed it to open at your discretion. I’ll continue to report back on their whereabouts.”

 I got no response, just the click of the phone call ending.

I hated that woman with a passion, but there was nothing I could do to change my current situation. She’d kidnapped my mate and forced me into submission. That’s the beauty of choosing your heart. Sometimes your heart lives outside of your body. And when the worst kind of human being gets a whiff of that; They’ll exploit it in any way possible.

If I do as she says, no harm comes to my love. The woman is sick. The people who work with her are sick.

Humans in general are sick.

 If it weren’t for my mate, I would have ended my life a long time ago.

My "boss", if you could call her that, was a human. She used creatures with special powers for monetary gain, creating some half-assed version of a circus-jail.

 I'm able to shape shift into different animals, as well as conceal my scent. She uses me to spy on her future subjects.

The mission I am on currently was to watch a man named Parker and his pregnant mate Felicity. They’re aware of what my boss does, and built a safe space to hide in the event that we come for them.

The only problem? Me.

After sneaking into their home, I was able to hack the room to open with a program that my boss created.

Parker is a Lunar healer, who happens to be the most sought-after creature. Felicity has the ability to tell the future through dreams. My boss was itching to find out if their child would possess both abilities.

I’ve been hiding within their pack. Watching from the trees or sky. Spying on both from a distance. I’ve been here for weeks, entirely undetected.

 I prayed to the moon goddess that this little family figured out what was going on before it was too late. Or I die before I complete this job.

Maybe my mate and I would meet in another life. One that doesn’t involve my bitch of a boss.
