Chapter 2: What a cruel fate!

When we signed a maintenance contract before, how can I survive if I don't try to please you? In any case, you were not an erratically angry man.”

Karen Goodwill's reply caused Gordon Williams to laugh suddenly. He pointed his finger at his face, smiled, and asked:

“I'm not erratic? Are you praising me? Haha.”

Karen Goodwill shook her head and smiled. Even though those years were humiliating, she had never been beaten, tortured, or played as a toy through the hands of other men. Although it was just a “daddy and sugar baby relationship”, Gordon Williams never abused her, forced her, and was very generous with her. If she said she hated him, it would be better to say that she hated the fate that pushed her to do those things.

“Forget it. Tell me, why are you in this mess?”

Suddenly Karen Goodwill asked an indifferent question as if she was interested in the other person. Gordon Williams laughed again, leaning over to call the waiter:

“Waiter, bring up two bottles of yellow Tequila!”

By saying that, Gordon Williams plopped down on the table again, morosely said:

“What a life! I’ve washed my hands and put down my sword, clearly cultivated my will to do the business, but they keep forcing me here to the end. Son of a bitch!”

Gordon Williams groaned for a while, Karen Goodwill guessed that he had some dissatisfaction, so she did not have the heart to leave. She sat down in a chair, raised the cocktail glass to her lips, and said:

“After all, we used to know each other. I lend you a few hours to vent your heart out! If you have something to say, say it.”

Gordon Williams' memory lingers only a little, before the unexpected incident happened last night. However, he also vaguely guessed, the main reason being the two bottles of yellow Tequila that he ordered at that time.

While Gordon Williams was busy rummaging through his wallet to see how much money was left to "pay" Karen Goodwill, she also came out of the bathroom, dressed neatly and decently, with a faint scent on her body.

“Looks like I was unlucky yesterday and got stuck with you again. From now on, don't see each other anymore, you have a family, I don't want to have a bad reputation!”

Karen Goodwill stags out of the room, not forgetting to glance angrily at Gordon Williams. How can she not be angry? Initially breaking off from the past, working hard to rebuild her life for the past two years, she was interrupted by the stallion Gordon Williams. To be fair, it's clear that her own drinking capacity is inferior. Karen Goodwill just took a sip of Tequila and was dizzy, her hands and feet weak, she no longer knew what the sky and moon were.

What an irony!

“Hey!”

In bed, Gordon Williams casually wraps a towel around his waist, then calls out. Karen Goodwill doesn’t turn around. She just stands still, waiting for Gordon Williams' next sentence.

“You don't take the money?”

It's ok that he doesn't say anything rather than he opens his mouth and pisses people off. Karen Goodwill grits her teeth, trying to steady her breath so as not to scold the shameless stallion. After all, he is the CEO of Williams Gems Group, has a solid foundation, and knows all kinds of people; she'd better not offend him.

“I'm no longer a sugar baby. I don't need money. Last night was considered a mistake, from now on we will not see each other again!”

Karen Goodwill stammers each word, then quickly leaves the room as if a ghost is chasing her. Gordon Williams bewilderedly follows her back, sitting dumbfounded on the bed.

“How do you know we won't meet again?”

Gordon Williams suddenly grins monstrously and mutters under his breath. It seems the Karen Goodwill he knew before has changed a lot. That's right, she never considered herself a prostitute, entwining him with the petty tricks of the women selling themselves. When the two sides liquidated the maintenance contract, unlike the other prostitutes besides Gordon Williams, Karen Goodwill never cried and held on. He remembers it vividly. At that time, she also made a relieved smile, blessed him, and quickly pulled her suitcase out of the villa he reserved for her.

Gordon Williams has never despised Karen Goodwill, but he also never let himself have any romantic feelings for her. During those five years, she and he did not have any connection except for the physical relationship.

Gordon Williams walks over to the side of the fridge, pours himself a glass of water, then turns on the phone and dials his secretary:

“Investigate a person. Remember to do it discreetly!”

Leaving a curt sentence to his secretary Brian Broadman, Gordon Williams hangs up the phone and drags wearily out of the hotel, dressed and groomed as he usually is.

Gordon Williams locked himself in the Williams Gems Corporation building to deal with work for the next week. He ate, slept, and bathed in the General Manager's room. The next day, the secretary Brian Broadman realizes that the air at Williams Gems Corporation is about to freeze, so he has to find an excuse to drag Gordon outside to get some fresh air.

Gordon Williams doesn’t bother to refuse, nor does he take his secretary Broadman with him. He just drives around the city alone. Until his stomach is boiling, he stops at a café serving breakfast.

Gordon Williams pretends to be leisurely walking into the bar, pushing the frames of his sunglasses to cover dark circles from staying up late under his eyes. Seeing the tall, upper-class figure and masculine face of Gordon Williams, the girls serving the restaurant act like they had been charmed. They look at him dumbfounded and then crowd around to discuss whether he has a girlfriend or not.

However, Gordon Williams completely ignores them. His eyes meet a familiar figure sitting not far away, right next to the clear lake in the restaurant's garden courtyard, and the woman has just seen him. What a cruel fate!
