Chapter 1: Unexpectedly

The harsh sunlight of the summer afternoon shines into the luxurious hotel room, waking Gordon Williams - the young master of the Williams Gems Group, and a beautiful girl with flawless skin next to him.

When their eyes met, they both couldn't help but exclaim:

“Why you?”

“Damned! Why you?”

Right! They know each other, even the relationship that lasted for five years between them in the past could be said to have been very close. However, they are neither lovers nor ex-lovers. Her - Karen Goodwill - is exactly Gordon Williams' expired contract “sugar baby”.

Karen Goodwill looks at the naked man in the same bed as her, surrounded by messy pillows and blankets, the air still lingering with a faint scent. She ruffles her hair in frustration, glares at Gordon Williams, then pulls all the blankets toward her, covers herself, and rushes into the bathroom.

“Ahh!”

The blanket is suddenly snatched away, leaving Gordon Williams naked in the daylight. He could only scream and then put his hand to cover the awkward spot that had just been revealed. It seems that "little guy" has raised its head again! Damned!

Karen Goodwill indeed sold herself to Gordon Williams 7 years ago. They signed a five-year lover support contract, Karen Goodwill always followed the agreement, and Gordon Williams was also very fair with money. Gordon Williams can't deny, although he has been with many women, no one can make him crazy like Karen Goodwill, and no one has been as docile, meek, and gentle as her.

Yet this morning Karen Goodwill uttered the word "damn," and angrily ripped off his blanket. People seem to have changed a bit after 2 years of not seeing each other.

Well, that's not too important. The important thing is, why did the two of them have another one-night relationship? Gordon Williams remembers that during two years apart, he paid full and has never contacted the girls he played with in the past. Why is Karen Goodwill beside him now? The more he thinks about it, the more his head hurts. He rubs his temples, slowly recalling what happened last night.

At eleven o'clock in the evening, on N street.

The dim lights and music in the bar seemed to make the atmosphere around Gordon Williams hotter. He poured another glass of whiskey, staggered to his feet, tilted his head back, and drank the whole glass of wine as he walked, constantly cursing "fuck". The elegant bartender in a sleek suit standing at the bar was familiar with the image of being half-sober, half-drunk, and dissatisfied with life to the point of drinking like water from young Williams, so he could only shake his head in disgust.

Gordon Williams staggered over to a wine table not far from the bar, where several pretty girls were sitting. He changed himself a lot because of his marriage to Sophia Joyner. For two years, he didn't play with any prostitute, restrained himself to the point of stoicism. For the past two years, he's had enough!

Gordon Williams grinned, reaching out to hug a beautiful girl sitting at a nearby wine table, causing her to startle and scream.

Slap!

Gordon Williams ate a slap from the girl, accompanied by several curses and banishments.

“Pervert! Get off me now!”

Collapsing at the table with one cheek imprinted with five fingers, Gordon Williams suddenly felt that the voice sounded a bit familiar as if he had heard it countless times in the past. Gordon Williams startled, rose to his feet, and stared at the sullen girl before his eyes.

“Karen Goodwill?”

“Gordon Williams?”

Karen Goodwill also just realized the lustful person who hugged her just now was. Not a stranger, it was her "sugar father" in the past. That year she was eighteen years old, reluctantly sold herself to a man six or seven years older than her to save her father, who was dying on a hospital bed because of a brain tumor. She thought that once the five years of humiliation "selling and raising her mouth" had ended, that dirty past was also buried by time, and disappeared from her life like the way Gordon Williams had disappeared. Still, unexpectedly, they met again in a situation that could not have been more coincidental.

As soon as she saw Gordon Williams, Karen Goodwill felt frustrated inside, his hands still wrapped around her shoulders, making her extremely embarrassed. However, undeniably, thanks to him that year generously "tied" her a lot of money, she was able to save her father. Gordon Williams didn't feel much more comfortable seeing Karen Goodwill either. What he hates the most is being involved with the woman he raised. According to Gordon Williams' "traumatic" experience, these women never give up, even though they have saved up quite a bit.

“Turned out to be you.”

Gordon Williams was dejected, took the wine glass on the table, and drank it down. It's just a sweet and sour cocktail that Karen Goodwill especially loves. Seeing that they all seemed tense, Karen Goodwill's female friends automatically dispersed and said goodbye to her and then went home. Karen Goodwill looked at Gordon Williams' drunken appearance and his disapproval, a little pity in her heart, so she no longer raised her horns.

“Why are you here? Having been married to Joyner for just two years, you have "got to know the old ways"?”

Karen Goodwill ordered another cocktail, then glanced at Gordon Williams and asked him coldly. Gordon Williams didn't answer her, he tilted his head and smiled, a smile full of bitterness that made Karen Goodwill not bear to continue teasing him.

“You used to understand me very well before, now you also know that I am not happy, right?”

Gordon Williams mentioned the past, Karen Goodwill immediately grinned. Not that she was scorning him, but mocking her own life.

Because she used to be a concubine, a humiliating and disgusting "job" that is unacceptable even in this modern society. No matter why it was, for Karen, it was always a sad memory. In the past, Karen tried to deny it and erase it from her life. However, now, she has realized how strong she was.
