Jaxon’s POV

I couldn't feel my body at first. Just the heat. Blistering, burning, choking heat like the entire arena was still on fire around me. My ears rang with a high-pitched whistle, drowning out every other sound, and my knees were pressed into sand that felt hotter than the sun.

Voices blurred and the sound of footsteps sounded. Someone screamed in the distance. Or maybe it was inside my head.

I pushed myself up on my palms, to my feet, my knees felt weak and wobbly.

“JAXON!”

Her voice cracked from behind me.

I whipped around painfully, just in time to see Kara sprinting toward me, her braid slapping against her back and her face streaked with tears and ash.

Someone grabbed her before she could reach me, a hand around her waist, pulling her back.

Caleb.

At least I thought it was him, everything still doubled and blurred, making faces hard to distinguish.

“Jaxon!" she said. "Where—where is Reese?”

I couldn't answer.

Behind her, I saw kids and elderly huddled behind her, trembling

Jaxon’s POVMy office smelled like coffee. The strong, bitter kind of black coffee. It was the only thing keeping me upright at this point.Eli sat across from me on the couch, his legs dangling because they still didn’t reach the floor, both his hands wrapped around a wide plastic cup filled with something outrageously purple. Nina had called it a smoothie. I suspected it was mostly fruit, sugar, and a quiet bribe. It wasn’t working.“So,” Eli said, staring at my desk like it personally offended him, “why do wolves hate rogues so much?”I dropped my pen.It clattered softly against the wood, rolling until it bumped against a stack of reports I’d been trying, and failing, to finish for the past hour.I closed my eyes briefly.“Eli,” I said carefully, opening them again, “we talked about this.”He leaned forward, elbows on his knees. “You said I could ask questions.”“I said you could ask some questions.”He tilted his head. “What’s the difference?”I stared at him.He stared back, ent

  • Claimed By The Alpha Biker   Chapter 120

Kara’s POVNight came quietly in the rogue camp and the day light was replaced with bunfires and voices along with people around them as the chaos of the day settled.I waited until the woman, Mara, turned her back, busy barking orders at two younger wolves who were arguing over supplies. I slipped away the same way I’d learned to do everything here without being memorable. The storeroom was on the far edge of the camp, half hidden behind stacked crates and torn canvas. I took three different paths getting there, doubling back once, pausing twice to listen. By the time I reached the door, my nerves were stretched tight enough to hum.I checked the ground first. No extra footprints. No drag marks. No disturbed dust near the entrance.Good.I slipped inside and pulled the door shut behind me, locking it the same way I had that morning with a careful wedge of wood that would hold but wouldn’t look deliberate. The storeroom was dark except for a thin line of moonlight cutting through a cr

  • Claimed By The Alpha Biker   Chapter 119

Kara’s POVI woke with my body already tense but that was my normal considering how and where I slept. The air inside the tent was stale, thick with the scent of sweat and unfamiliar wolves. The canvas above me sagged slightly, patched and restitched in different places. Someone snored softly nearby. Another shifted in their sleep, muttering something under their breath.I didn’t move yet, counting their breaths instead.One.Two.Three.When the rhythm around me settled back into deep sleep, I slowly peeled myself off the ground. My muscles protested quietly. I’d slept curled in on myself, knees tight to my chest, careful not to take up space that wasn’t mine. That had been deliberate. From what I knew and was told, in rogue camps, space was claimed, taken and defended.I slipped my boots on without tying them, gathered my jacket, and eased toward the tent flap. The sky outside was just beginning to pale, the kind of gray that meant dawn was close but not close enough for anyone to b

  • Claimed By The Alpha Biker   Chapter 118

Reese’s POVThe cold was like a blanket. It was close to being a discomfort but it wasn't. It seeped into my bones slowly, like it had been waiting patiently for my body to relax before claiming me.I was curled on my side on the cave floor, knees drawn to my chest and my arms wrapped tightly around myself. But it wasn't that that woke me up. It wasn't the discomfort or cold that woke me. After a few weeks or even months, I wasn't sure, I'd gotten used to this place. The conditions and all. So it wasn't what woke me up.It was the burn on my neck. The sensation was sudden enough to jolt me halfway out of sleep, a sharp, unpleasant heat licking just beneath my skin like a brand being pressed there. I sucked in a breath, my fingers twitching instinctively toward my throat but before I could move, something else hit me.I wasn't alone. The cave walls blurred for half a second as my vision adjusted, shadows swimming before settling and then I saw him.The Bishop stood a few steps away fro

  • Claimed By The Alpha Biker   Chapter 117

Kara’s POVThe storeroom smelled like dust, old wood, and something faintly metallic, blood, maybe, or rust. Probably both.I stayed still, back pressed to a stack of grain sacks that had been piled so high they brushed the low ceiling. Somewhere above us, the building creaked as the night wind pushed against it. The rogue settlement had gone quiet hours ago.Blaze leaned against a crate near the door, arms crossed over his chest, head tilted as if he were listening for something only he could hear. Sheila sat on the floor with her knees pulled to her chest, blade resting loosely in her hand, eyes half lidded but alert. Caleb paced. He’d been pacing for a while.Back and forth. Back and forth. His boots whispered against the dirt floor, stopping just short of the door each time before he turned again. Finally, he broke.“So,” he said quietly, glancing at me. “What’s next?”I lifted my eyes to him.“We wait.” I said.He frowned. “That’s it?”“For now.”Caleb dragged a hand through his

  • Claimed By The Alpha Biker   Chapter 116

Reese’s POVI stood evenbefore the rogues came in through the cave entrance.I didn’t know how I knew. I just did.My body reacted before my thoughts could catch up, muscles tightening, spine straightening as if an invisible hand had tapped my shoulder and whispered now. I pushed myself off the ground, dusting sand from my palms, my joints aching faintly from the cold stone floor.Right on time, footsteps approached.Leather brushed against rock. Metal clinked softly. The low murmur of voices stopped just outside the cave mouth. When the rogues stepped in with torches raised, they paused.I was already standing. One of them frowned, clearly unsettled. Another glanced at his companion, brows knitting together like they’d missed a step in a familiar routine. She’s supposed to struggle, his face seemed to say. Or at least pretend she wants to.I didn’t give them the satisfaction.“Let’s go.” I said calmly, stepping forward before they could speak. They hesitated just a second too long. T
