Chapter Six

I gasped like I had just been ridden by a ghost, pale as a syphon. I took a step backwards, unable to process the words that had just blurted right out of his mouth. I shook my head in disbelief.

“No.”

“Anora.” He called.

Still shaking my head, “No.”

“My mate.” He called again, “Come to me.”

Like a magnet, an overbearing force pushed me towards him, despite my refusal and wanting to stay on ground. I felt the tears welling up in my eyes as I reached the front of the hall.

He looked down at me, eyes filled with so much passion. He was tall, bigger in my eyes even, and more menacing as we were alone in the hall, with only a few others who I had just started to notice. They were probably servants or people in his court.

“Thank the heavens. You’re so beautiful Anora.” He said, his voice was smooth as silk.

“I wanted to talk to you.” I said, my voice cracking over my silent sobs as the water streamed down my cheeks.
