Chapter 57

Kaia's POV

I woke up with a start, my head was hurting, my lungs were burning like they were on fire. I was on a bed, even though I was certain the cabin didn't have one, nor did it have lights.

“Where was I?”

The last thing I remembered was taking a stroll because Lylah needed to get better and she thought taking a walk might help and then she sensed King calling for help.

I sat upright quickly, “Kieran! He was right in my arms and he…” I couldn't bring myself to even say the word. Something didn't feel right though, it felt like he was still here.

“Kaia! You're finally awake!” Allie squealed, running towards me, wearing a relieved look.

“Her brother was dead because of me, how does she have it in her to be happy that I was awake?” I thought, looking at her suspiciously. "or was this her way of getting back at me? Killing me with kindness, so that the guilt would eat me up alive?”

She threw her arms around me as she started crying, “I was so scared

Chapter 58 Kaia's POV (Mature content) Like he'd been expecting it, Kieran didn't hesitate as he kissed me back, gently setting me on my feet. One of his hands glides up to cup the back of my neck and his other hand stays on my lower back, firmly holding me against him. Our eyes lock, both of us breathing hard. Since the first time we kissed this has to be the longest I've gone without kissing him. So I kissed him like I was making up for the lost time. He guided me carefully into the room and towards the bed but I didn't care as my hand around his neck pulled him closer if possible, deepening the kiss. My back touched the bed but his lips didn't leave mine and my hand left his neck to tug at the hem of his shirt. He pulled it off so fast before his lips came back to mine. He left trails of kisses on my neck and a satisfied growl left his lips when I let out a moan. I brought his lips to mine, wanting to feel him. I paused when I felt his hand graze my skin under my

Chapter 59 Kaia's pov A smile covered my face as I thought about the previous day. I could still feel his hands on my skin, all over my body. “Lylah, you've been quiet, what do you think?" I asked, expecting her to give some form of comment. Probably about his body or how she was proud of me…just something. But there was no response. “Lylah?" I called again but it was the same thing. I stood up from bed, ignoring the slight soreness I felt. Picking a random cloth, I threw it on and made my way out of the room hurriedly. “Was Lylah okay?" I wondered, “did something happen to her? Too worried to care about anything else, I ignored the stares I got from the pack members as I made my way to Kieran's office. He'd woken me up to tell me he was leaving. Pushing the door opened without bothering to knock, I saw Caleb and Ryder seated in front of him. They stood up once they saw me and bowed their heads. While Ryder had a relieved smile on his face, Caleb couldn't be bothe

Chapter 60Kieran's POV I watched as Kaia left the room, a smile on my face. Before I found her, several thoughts went up in my head about how I was going to react when I found her. Would I be angry, betrayed or sad that she doesn't trust me enough? But none of that happened, instead, a wave of relief hit me once I laid my eyes on her. And everyday, she didn't fail to surprise me. It doesn't matter what she does. “Alpha…”Caleb called, taking my attention away from the door. "Yes.” "Concerning the person who shot you, we didn't find anything reasonable." He said, “is there something else we can use?" I shook my head, trying to recall every detail that could be of help, but apart from the suspicious movement, nothing else stood out to me as that wasn't the priority at the moment. “It was like he was never there." Ryder added. He had been the first person to get to the scene and searched everywhere thoroughly, but nothing came up. Caleb, being the second in command, h

Chapter 61Kaia's POV Kieran left in a hurry after getting a mindlink from Ryder. I didn't have it in me to eat more, so I took the plates to the kitchen even though Nora rushed to collect them from me. I found out from Kieran that she'd told him about my conversation with Ida. Once that was done, I went towards the child care. I'm sure Kieran wouldn't like it that I wasn't resting like he wanted, but being in the room alone was boring. “Luna!" Dani called. “Kaia!" Allie exclaimed, coming to my side. "You should be resting. How did you convince my brother to make him agree?” "I didn't.” I replied, smiling sheepishly. "He went to the borders to meet Ryder and I'm bored staying alone by myself.” They nodded, and led me to the couch so I would sit. No matter how many times I told them I was okay and Kieran was only exaggerating, they didn't believe me. And if anything, he was the one who needed to rest more. “The children have missed you…everyone did.” Dani said.

Chapter 62 Kieran's POV “Alpha, we found something." Ryder's voice rang in my head and my hand at Kaia's side froze. “Was it…?” I thought, "Be right there.” I replied, closing the mindlink and standing up. "Is something wrong?” Kaia's soft voice asked and I shook my head. “Ryder thinks he found something, so I'm going to take a look." I told her, placing a kiss on her lips and leaving the room before I get tempted to stay. Shifting into my Lycan, I ran to the pack borders, reaching there in no time before shifting back. Ryder had his back turned to me, giving command to the warriors, who nodded as they diapers. “Alpha." He called once he turned to face me. “What did you find?" He showed me a piece of clothing which was covered in blood. And the smell coming from it, just like we assumed, didn't belong to a rogue. “We found this just outside the pack borders, so our best guess is that he's around somewhere, but injured. But he shouldn't have gone that far."

Chapter 63Kaia's POV Kieran has been spending more time in the dungeon and each time he gets back, he always has a frustrated look on his face. He had mentioned that they'd finally caught one of the rogues that was making the pack stand on edge but he wasn't admitting to working with anyone. I didn't know who he was, but I had one or two things to tell him about frustrating my man. Lylah still wasn't back and it was starting to make me doubt if she was ever going to come back. I didn't mention it to Kieran because he already had a lot of things he was dealing with. “Come on," Dani whined, “we need to do something fun, other than our normal routine." She grumbled, tugging my arms gently. The three of us just finished helping out at the hospital and we were tired since we spent most of the time on our feet and all I was thinking about was Kieran massaging them. “I agree,” Allie agreed, "I cannot remember the last time we did anything fun. I'm losing my youthful age h

Chapter 64Kaia's POV “I can't believe you didn't tell us!” Allie whined, pouting her lips like her favorite candy was snatched from her hands. My eyes dropped in guilt, “It kinda skipped my mind." I replied, my voice low. They paused, taking my countenance in, “Why don't you look excited? You should, you've always looked forward to shifting into your wolf." Dani said. I sighed deeply, “At that point, it hadn't sunk in yet, but I'm getting there. I'm trying to wrap my head around the fact that I can actually shift and not just that, a rare wolf.” Their expression softened in understanding. I wanted to be able to see her once more to believe that the moon goddess didn't just grant my request because of Kieran and has taken her back. “I'm sure it'll sink in soon." Allie assured me and I nodded. “And members of this pack are lucky because if it was me, they wouldn't hear the end of it." She added. So, after the Pack's meeting the previous day , I met the doctor wh

Chapter 65 Kaia's POV “Dylan?" "Dylan!” I called, not wanting to believe that the person who looked almost unrecognizable was the same person I knew. His head jerked upward and he tried standing up when he heard his name, and I was right. My hand covered my mouth as I took in his state. His clothes were torn and covered with blood. Some of which looked like they've been there for a long time. His face was swollen. A faint smell of wolfsbane filled my nostrils, explaining why he wasn't completely healing even as a Beta. “Why are you here? Who did this to you?" I asked, my voice trembling at how bad he looked. "Kaia?” He let out in a horse tone. It was like talking became a struggle for him. Looking at him hurt, like air being sucked out of my lungs. “It's me." I replied, beating my chest softly. “Why are you here?" I asked again, now standing in front of his cell. A strained smile appeared on his face as he took in my appearance. “You're okay." Chapter 150 Allie's POV There was a permanent grin on my face, not even the scumbag of Kaia's adopted father could ruin it. How one person could be that shameless was beyond me. It was barely over a week since Katherine had been with us and instead of being worried, he was already finding ways to replace her. He was worse than a pig which sleeps around. I decided to take a look around the Pack where Kaia grew up in even though she didn't have the best time. “The Pack looks cursed." Rhea mocked. “I wouldn't be surprised if it is. The moon goddess does like playing games." Pack members who were outside had their eyes on me, as they murmured to each other, asking who I was and what I was looking for but nobody spoke up. I stopped in my tracks when I realized I didn't tell Ryder anything and I didn't put it past him to be panicking if he didn't find me once he was done. So I decided to go back before I was tempted to treat all of them a lesson for being idiots. “We

Chapter 149 Ryder's POV With the new information on ground, Kieran wanted to catch two birds with one stone. So all hands were on deck to make sure that this plan was a success. But he had a separate mission for me. Nora had mentioned that after Luna Kaia was born, a locket was worn around her neck so that when she grew up, she would have an idea about her identity but obviously, she didn't see it which means it was still somewhere in her former Pack and her Dad…adopted father would have an idea about it. We knew almost everything about her identity, but it was the last and probably the only thing Luna Kaia received from her biological father, so I was going to get it back and probably put some sense into him. “How many days are you going to spend there?" Allie asked, pouting as she watched me get ready to leave. “I should be back at the latest tomorrow…I don't think I'm going to survive more than a day without you.” She grinned widely, "how about I come along? Chapter 148 Dylan's POV I was in shock as I continued staring at the girl…Nora. The way she put herself in front of me was making my wolf go crazy. My mind was no longer on what was being discussed in the room, all I wanted was to talk to her…alone, to confirm I wasn't imagining things. “Keep your eyes on her," Alpha Kieran commanded, bringing me back to the present. “I need to talk to Ryder about something." Nodding slightly, I led her out of the office and immediately we were out, she hastened her footsteps, trying to get away, but I was fast, grabbing her arms and the sparks which I had thought was a fragment of my imagination earlier, shot through me again. I could tell she felt it too. “What was that?" She feigned a confused look, “what was what?" She asked, snatching her arm out of my hand. I let out a frustrated sigh, my wolf wanted to take control but that would be a mistake on my part. He was far from being patient and the girl in front of me needed a whole

She had her head facing the ground and Dylan…well, he looked like him, just a little tense. “You know her?" Dylan asked, not masking his shock. I nodded, “she works in the kitchen." I replied. “What did you do to her? She looks like she wants to disappear." Kieran snorted as he sat upright, his arms around me loosening. “You found something?” He asked, clearly not interested in small talk. Dylan nodded and stepped forward, stretching a phone to Kieran. "She was talking to her mom about Luna Kaia, and there are pictures of her on the phone.” He said. “I think it might be connected to the attack." He added, his voice low as he spoke and he looked away from her. My eyes widened, my jaw dropped as I looked at the girland I found it hard to believe, considering how many times she defended me in the presence

Chapter 146 Dylan's POV No matter how many times I repeated it to myself that I was acting under a spell, it didn't help the guilt I felt, especially when I saw the bruises on Alpha Kieran's body. No doubt he didn't fight back which made everything worse. “You're here again." Allie said, “you're stealing my thinking spot and I don't think I like it." She added, coming to sit beside me on the bench. The pavilion was her favorite spot and because it was mostly secluded, it became mine too. “Thinking spot, huh? What else do you have to think about? You're the happiest I've seen you." Her smile widened, “I am happy…but it doesn't mean I can't come here to think." She said. “A lot of things have happened the past few days and even weeks, I just want things to go back to how they used to be." I nodded, understanding what she was talking about. Her mom was currently sitting in the dungeon and she didn't want to hear anything about her. “I thought things were going well with

Chapter 145 Kieran's POV I turned back to Gerald, now, even more determined as I couldn't wait to find out what Kaia wanted to tell me. “I'm listening." I said, referring to the question I asked him. “All I know is that the Alpha of their Pack knew something he shouldn't and in order to silence him, rogues were sent to their Pack, catching them unaware." He said, “but I had nothing to do with it." He insisted. “By their Alpha, you mean Alpha Marcus?" Caleb asked. My brows furrowed, everyone knew he was the Alpha and there was no need dwelling on that. But Gerald shook his head, “Alpha Marcus is the twin brother of the real Alpha." He said, “Alpha Matthew is the elder twin which makes him the rightful heir to the throne." I messaged my temple gently, if this was true, we were years away from finding Kaia's biological parents. I wanted to ask how he knew all of this, something even my Dad as an Alpha didn't know…or probably because I didn't ask. Caleb had suddenly go

Chapter 144 Kieran's POV Apart from the things we found after rummaging through the house we found out belonged to Gerald and his mate after they were banished from the Pack, we haven't found anything new. And the location of Gerald's mate and the son, whose name was Felix was yet to be determined, but we now have names we were working on, instead of just wild guesses. It was confirmed that this Felix guy was born earlier than I was, which would suggest that the reason he was dead set on attacking the Pack was because he thinks that for whatever reason, he was supposed to be the Alpha of the Pack. “I mean, out of all the things I knew was wrong with your mom, cheating on your dad is next level.” King said. "You do know they're your parents too, right?” "Nah, I'll pass. But I'm glad he did the right thing.” My Dad’s rejection came as a surprise to me, it was the last thing I expected him to do. And no doubt, the rejection was weighing on both of them, but my

Lylah asked me, and my eyes widened. “Fuck!" I cursed, “What if that's the reason she's been staying away because she's planning this?" I replied, asking a question of my own. I stood up, with a sense of urgency, causing Katherine to look up at me. “What's wrong? Is everything okay with Dylan?" She asked. The worry in her voice made me forget for a brief moment why I stood up. Of course she was worried about her son. She knew that no matter what she said, Dylan still would've offered to be the bait. “He's fine." I told her. It hasn't been long s

There was no way that could've happened without my knowledge considering we found each other really early but the resemblance between the boy and Kieran was uncanny. Even after the evidence, I managed to convince myself that something else was at play but the past few weeks, her sudden disappearance left me questioning if I was protecting myself and pretending not to see what was happening. But spells? She has gone too far this time. Even a blind person could see how much both Kieran and Kaia cared for each other. Her position was never a problem…neither was it for me, as long as she made Kieran happy, I was fine.
