Kai’s POV
“I think I like her,” Knight said with a wide smile.
I slowly turned to look at him.
The anger inside me was already rising.
My jaw tightened.
The image of that stubborn girl was still fresh in my mind. The way she ran after bumping into me for the second time.
And now Knight was smiling like he had found entertainment in my suffering.
When he saw my face, his smile quickly faded.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” he said fast. “I mean, that girl is rude and needs to be polished.”
I hissed softly and walked away before I said something dangerous.
Sometimes I wondered why fate gave me a Beta like him.
I entered the restroom and shut the door behind me.
I looked at my reflection.
My expression was dark. My eyes still carried irritation.
I removed my clothes and stepped under the shower, Cold water poured over my body, I closed my eyes.
Everything that happened replayed in my head.
The first time I saw her. The strange pull in my chest. The scent that made my wolf restless. The second time she crashed into me. The fear in her eyes before she ran.
I gripped the wall tightly, I had found my mate, there was no doubt about it.
My wolf knew. Every instinct in me knew, but one thing made no sense, why did she not feel it too?
Most mates reacted the moment they met. Some felt heat and some felt the bond immediately.
I opened my eyes slowly. “How is that possible?” I muttered.
Water ran down my face.
Could she be hiding it? Did she know and pretend not to care? Or was something wrong with her wolf? My wolf growled softly inside me.
After a few minutes, I finished bathing and dried myself.
I changed into fresh clothes. A black shirt. Dark jeans. Simple, clean, comfortable.
When I stepped out of the restroom, Knight was waiting outside like an impatient child.
The moment he saw me, he whistled loudly.
“Wow,” he said dramatically. “You look so good.”
I ignored him and walked past.
He followed behind me.
“You know,” he continued, “if I looked like you, I would break many hearts.”
“You already break my peace every day,” I replied coldly.
He laughed. “I’ll take that as praise.”
I stopped walking and turned to him.
“Do you know what I think?” I asked.
He smiled proudly. “That I’m handsome?” he asked
“That you talk too much.” I replied
His smile dropped immediately. Before I could continue, the door opened.
The scent of perfume entered first, then Selena walked in with uniform on her body.
She moved slowly, like she expected everyone to watch her and many did.
Her chin was lifted high. Her heels clicked against the floor. Every step screamed attention.
She stopped in front of me and smiled.
“Hello, Mr.Handsome,” she said sweetly.
I looked away immediately like I did not want drama from her.
Selena always brought trouble. She loved attention and hated being ignored.
Knight, however, had no sense of danger, he stepped forward with a grin.
“Welcome, my princess,” he said, bowing slightly.
I glanced at him, He smiled like a fool.
Selena laughed softly, then turned back to me.
“I’m here to invite you to my party tonight,” she said proudly. “And you should feel honored.”
I said nothing, she continued.
“This is not just any party. It is Alpha Lycan’s only daughter’s private celebration. Important people will be there.”
Her smile widened.
“And I am personally inviting you as a guest.”
The way she spoke made it sound like a royal blessing.
I had no interest in her party, I opened my mouth to refuse. “I don’t think that—”
Knight quickly cut me off. “Oh wow, that sounds amazing,” he said loudly. “We will be there.”
I slowly turned my head toward him.
He smiled at Selena like he had just won treasure.
I wondered again how he became my Beta, sometimes I suspected fate made a mistake, but I guess he want the best for my Pack
Selena’s eyes brightened, I could see how happy she was, especially because she thought I agreed.
“I’ll be expecting you,” she said quickly.
She gave me one last smile, turned around, and walked out proudly.
“This is going to be fun.” knight said
I stared at him.I truly felt like ending his life.
“Why would you say yes?” I asked coldly.
Knight blinked. “Because it’s a party?” he replied with a smile.
“I did not agree,” I said coldly.
“You didn’t disagree fast enough,” Knight replied with a grin.
I took one slow step toward him, ready to break his head. He quickly raised both hands in surrender like a dog giving up stolen food.
“Relax,” he said fast. “You look like you want to kill me.”
“I am calm,” I said.
Knight took a deep breath before speaking again.
“It is not just about you. Think about the benefits for our pack. You cannot say no to Alpha Lycan’s offer.”
I stared at him for a moment. Sometimes Knight acted like a fool, but sometimes he was right.
I turned and walked away.
“Find what we are going to wear for tonight’s party,” I said without looking back.
Behind me, I heard his excited laugh.
“I knew you would listen to wisdom!”
I ignored him.
---
Night came quickly.
The party was already alive when I drove into the large compound. Bright lights covered the building, and loud music poured from inside. Expensive cars were parked everywhere, while students stood outside laughing, talking, and taking pictures.
The moment my car stopped, the whole area became quiet for one second. Then everyone turned toward us.
Since it was a student party, I expected noise.
And I was right.
“Oh my goodness, Alpha is here!”
“He came in person!”
“Look at him!”
Whispers and excited voices rose from every side.
I stepped out of the car calmly. Knight came out from the other side, fixing his jacket like he was the important one.
Girls stared openly. Some boys stepped back. Others looked at me with respect.
I hated attention but knight on the other side waved like a celebrity.
I walked forward while he proudly followed beside me.
Before we reached the entrance, Selena appeared.
She walked toward us with a bright smile, dressed in a shining silver gown that hugged her body. Her makeup was perfect, and her long hair rested neatly on her shoulders. She looked pleased with herself.
“I knew you would come,” she said sweetly.
Knight smiled. “Of course. How can we miss this?”
I said nothing.
Selena did not seem bothered. She moved closer and led us inside.
The hall was large and beautifully decorated. Crystal lights hung from the ceiling. Soft music mixed with laughter and conversation. Students from powerful families filled the room. Drinks were served, and long tables were covered with expensive food. Everything screamed wealth.
Selena led us to a private sitting area in the corner, away from the crowd.
We sat down. She chose the seat beside me without asking. Knight sat across from us, already eating snacks like he had not seen food in days.
Selena leaned closer.
“I’m happy you came,” she said softly.
I gave a small nod. Before she could continue, my phone rang.
I stood up immediately.
“I need to take this.” I said and walked away from the table, searching for a quiet place. The music was too loud near the hall, so I moved down a side hallway where the sound became softer.
But before I could answer, the caller hung up.
I looked at the screen, Unknown number, I frowned.
Then I heard voices nearby. Female voices speaking in low tones from the next room.
“Don’t worry. She will pass that way,” one voice said. “Just make sure you deal with her.”
I paused, It was none of my business. I should have walked away, but something inside me stopped me.
A strange feeling. Like danger was close. Like someone important was about to be harmed.
I stayed still and listened, another voice laughed.
“Make sure you record her too. Poor thing like her will learn when to keep quiet when I speak.”
The voice sounded familiar.
Then she continued. “She just got a scholarship and already thinks she matters.”
My eyes narrowed, scholarship, new student, my mind went straight to one person.
I stepped closer to the wall, silent as the night.
The same voice spoke again. “Yes, she’s going to pass through the old road to school. That’s the direction I gave her.”
My body stiffened, I knew that road well. Dark. Empty. No streetlights. No guards. No cameras. Perfect for an attack.
I heard footsteps moving inside the room, without wasting another second, I turned and walked fast. Then faster.
By the time I reached the hall, Knight was licking sauce from his finger. “We need to leave now,” I said sharply.
He blinked in confusion. “What? Why? The party just started.”
“Now.” My tone made him stand at once.
Selena rushed over. “Kai? What happened?” she asked
“I’m leaving.” I said.
“But—” she wanted to stopped me
“I said I’m leaving.” I said coldly
She froze at the coldness in my voice.
Knight quickly followed me out.
We entered the car, and I drove out of the compound at high speed. The tires screamed against the road.
Knight grabbed the handle above the door.
“Should I be scared?”
he asked.
“Yes.” I replied
My hands tightened on the wheel.
My heart was beating harder than it should. I did not understand why. "Why did the thought of my mate in danger affect me this much?." I said like a whisper but it was loud to hear.
"Mate?" Knight asked
Zaria’s POV“Madam, are you awake?”The voice reached me like a distant echo in my half-conscious mind. My eyelids fluttered open, and I saw a lady standing right in front of me. She looked like someone who worked in a palace—her uniform neat, her movements careful, like she had been trained to serve.“Madam, are you awake?” she asked again, her voice soft but insistent.I blinked a few times, trying to understand where I was. The room… it wasn’t just a room. It was more than that. Every corner shone with light, and soft colors adorned the walls and curtains. Everything looked like it belonged in a dream—or a paradise. I closed my eyes for a second, convinced it was all in my head, and when I opened them again, the scene had not changed.I leaned my head back against the pillow, trying to drift back into the comfort of sleep, hoping it was just a dream. But the voice came again.“Madam, please, this is your food.”Food? I couldn’t even think about eating. My mind was spinning, my hear
Zaria’s POV I had just closed from work when my phone rang. I was tired, and all I wanted was to go home, eat, and sleep. I almost ignored the call, but something made me pick it up.“Did you forget the order?” a voice said from the other end. I looked back at my phone. The number was unknown. Then I remembered—this same number had called me earlier when I just got back from school. I didn’t pay much attention then. But now… it was late.“I will bring it tomorrow,” I said, trying to sound calm.“Please, I can’t wait till tomorrow. I need it tonight,” the voice said again. This time, it still felt like it was behind me, even though I was holding the phone to my ear.I didn’t like this. Something felt wrong. Everything in me told me to say no.But then I remembered the money, the woman had offered a lot—more than I usually earn in days. I needed the money. I couldn’t say no.“Please come now. I will be waiting,” she said. Before I could change my mind, she ended the call.I stood ther

Chapter four Zaria’s POV“Zaria” I heard someone called I turned back and saw Jean she walked down to me, "Am sorry." she said quickly. “I should have stood with you in class yesterday.”I glanced at her.Her voice was soft, and I could see she meant it. With what have know she's was not the type to fight. She avoided trouble. So I didn’t blame her. “It’s fine,” I said calmly. She still looked guilty. “Selena and her girls… they are dangerous, I need you to stay away from them.”I adjusted my bag on my shoulder and started walking slowly.“I don’t care,” I said.Jean stopped walking immediately, she turned to look at me like I had said something crazy.“What do you mean you don’t care?” she asked. “Zaria, do you know what they can do? Especially Selena? I stopped walking, for a moment, I just looked at her then I smiled slowly. I opened my bag and pulled something, pepper spray I held it up like it was nothing important.“Look at this,” I said calmly. “If anyone tries me today, I
Chapter threeKai’s POV“Are you blind?” a lady shouted as she bumped into me.Her shoulder hit mine hard, and for a second, I almost lost my balance. I stepped back slightly and frowned.“Watch where you’re going,” I said calmly. She laughed, but it didn’t last. Her face changed fast, like my words made her angry.“Watch where I’m going?” she repeated, stepping closer to me like she wanted trouble. “Are you blind to see me coming, huh? Do you think because you’re from a royal family, you have the right to be rude to everyone?”My expression darkened. The last time I checked, she was the one who bumped into me. Not the other way around. And she didn’t even apologize.“You bumped into me,” I said slowly, my voice calm but sharp. “You should say sorry.”She looked at me like I just said something stupid.“You want me to say sorry?” she laughed again, but this time it was cold. “You must be stupid to think I will say that. Who the hell are you? My Alpha?”My jaw tightened.“Watch your mo
Chapter twoZaria’s POVI walked into the lecture room with the lecturer.“Settle down, class,” she said. Her voice was firm, and immediately, everyone rushed back to their seats. Chairs scraped against the floor, and the noise slowly died down. I stood beside her, trying to stay calm, even though I could feel so many eyes on me.I looked around the room. That was when my eyes met Jean’s.She was sitting near the window, her face lighting up when she saw me. I smiled at her, and she smiled back. That small moment made me feel a little better.“At least I’m not completely alone,” I thought.“This is the new student,” the Lecturer said, pointing at me. “She will be resuming today.”She turned to face me.“Introduce yourself to the class.”I nodded and stepped forward a little.“My name is Zaria,” I said. My voice was soft, but it didn’t shake. “I just transferred here.”For a moment, the class was quiet. Then a few students introduced themselves too, one after the other. Some smiled, so
