เข้าสู่ระบบThree years ago, Selene Voss believed she had found her forever in Damien Crowe, the powerful Alpha of the Blackridge Pack. She was wrong. On his twenty-fifth birthday, Damien rejects her in the cruelest way possible, telling her she is nothing more than a weak wolf who was never worthy of standing beside him. Heartbroken but determined not to beg for a love that has already been taken from her, Selene leaves Blackridge behind and retreats to the mountain cabin her late grandmother left her. She expects solitude. Instead, she finds another Alpha. Colt Ashford is everything Damien never was—calm, patient and dangerously captivating. But the moment their eyes meet, Selene feels something impossible. A second mate bond. Still bleeding from Damien’s rejection, Selene refuses to accept another bond so easily. She has spent three years losing herself for a man who never thought she was enough, and she refuses to make the same mistake twice. But the moon seems to have other plans. Someone has been watching her for years, waiting for her hidden power to awaken. And the closer Selene gets to discovering who she truly is, the more dangerous her second chance at love becomes. One Alpha rejected her. Another is waiting for her to choose him. And the moon has a secret that could change everything. Because sometimes, the mate who breaks your heart is only the beginning of the destiny that was waiting for you.

"You are nothing, Selene. You hear me? Nothing." Damien's voice cut through the celebration noise spilling from the packhouse behind us. His blue eyes were cold, colder than I had ever seen them, and I stood frozen on the back porch with my fingers curling around the railing. "I heard you the first time," I said. "Then why are you still standing here looking at me like I owe you something?" He stepped closer, and the mate bond hummed between us, warm and insistent, the way it always was. I hated that it still did that. I hated that my body still responded to him even now. "Because you do owe me something, Damien," I said. "Three years. You owe me three years." He laughed, and it was not a kind laugh. "Three years of what? Watching you fail every training session? Three years of the whole pack wondering why their Alpha chose a mate who cannot even shift properly?" "I can shift." "Barely." He looked me over the way someone looks at a piece of furniture they are planning to throw out. "I made a mistake bonding with you. The moon made a mistake. I am choosing to correct it." I stared at him. The music was still playing inside. Someone had opened a bottle of champagne. His sister was laughing at something, that bright beautiful laugh she had. The pack was celebrating his twenty-fifth birthday, and out here on this porch, he was ending us. "You are rejecting me," I said. "I am being honest with you. Something I should have done a long time ago." "Say the words, Damien." He met my eyes. "I, Damien Crowe, Alpha of the Blackridge Pack, reject you, Selene Voss, as my mate." The pain was immediate and total. It came from somewhere behind my sternum and spread outward like a crack in ice, sharp and splitting. I grabbed the railing harder and I did not cry. I had promised myself I would not cry. "Done?" I asked. Something flickered in his expression. Guilt, maybe. Or maybe it was just the porch light playing tricks. "Selene, you should leave Blackridge. For your own sake." "Do not tell me what I should do," I said. "Not anymore." I walked back inside, through the party, through the perfume and the laughter and the congratulations being thrown around like confetti. I walked past his sister Maya who reached for my arm and I shook her off. I walked up to my room, which had been our room, and I pulled a bag from under the bed and I packed it in ten minutes. My phone buzzed. It was Maya. "Selene, what happened? What did he say to you?" "Ask your brother," I said into the phone. "Selene, please do not do anything right now. Just sleep on it." "I am not sleeping here tonight." I zipped the bag and swung it over my shoulder. "Tell him I accept." "You accept what?" "He will know." I ended the call and walked out of the packhouse. The night air hit me and I breathed it in, deep and slow, and I felt the rejection bond still raw and bleeding somewhere inside my chest. But I also felt something else underneath it. Something quiet and steady. Relief. I had been drowning in that relationship for three years, shrinking myself to fit inside the space he decided I was allowed to occupy. Apologizing for existing at the wrong volume. Pretending I did not notice the way he looked at Cassandra Reid at every pack event. Pretending everything was fine. Nothing had been fine. I got in my car and I drove. I did not know exactly where I was going. I just knew I was going north, because three years ago, before Damien, before Blackridge, before all of it, my grandmother had left me a small cabin in the mountain territory between three pack borders. Unclaimed land. Neutral ground. The kind of place where a woman with a broken bond and a half-shift and a bruised pride could disappear for a while. I drove for four hours. The rejection pain dulled to something manageable, a persistent ache that I knew would take weeks to fade fully. The radio played something country and sad and I turned it off and drove in silence. I pulled up to the cabin just before two in the morning. The trees around it were enormous and old and the moonlight came down through the gaps in the branches in long silver shafts. I sat in the car for a moment. The cabin was dark. The air outside was cold and clean. Somewhere in the trees, an owl called once and then went silent. I grabbed my bag and walked to the door and I was reaching for the key under the third porch step, the place my grandmother always kept it, when I heard something. A low sound. Not quite human. I straightened slowly and looked toward the tree line. Two sets of eyes caught the moonlight. And they were watching me.Selene POV"Maya, what do you mean he is coming?" I said into the phone."He left this morning," she said. "I tried to call you yesterday but you did not pick up. Selene, he told the pack he is going to bring you home.""I am not his mate anymore. He rejected me.""I know that. You know that." She lowered her voice. "He woke up this morning and I think the reality of it hit him and now he is driving north and he would not listen to me."I pressed my back against the nearest tree and looked up through the branches. "He does not know exactly where I am.""He knows about the cabin. You mentioned it once, apparently, and he remembered."Of course he did. Damien had a precise and selective memory. He forgot birthdays and anniversaries and the things that mattered to me but he retained every piece of information that might one day be useful to him."How far out is he?" I asked."Four hours maybe. He left around seven this morning."I checked my phone. It was just after ten."Okay," I said.
Selene POV"You did not have to walk me up," I said."I wanted to," Petra said. "Also Colt would have sent someone anyway and I volunteered before anyone else could."She moved through the mountain path like she had done it ten thousand times, which she probably had, stepping over roots and ducking under low branches without breaking her sentence. I followed and tried not to look like I was paying attention to every sound in the trees around us."How long have you lived on the mountain?" I asked."My whole life. Born right there in the packhouse actually." She pointed ahead where the trees were beginning to thin. "My mother likes to tell that story at every dinner. Twenty-two years and it has not gotten less dramatic in the telling."I smiled. "And Colt? Was he born here too?"She glanced at me sideways. Not suspicious, just measuring. "He was. He grew up here, left for a few years when he was in his early twenties, came back when his father got sick and took the Alpha position when h
Selene POV"I need you to step back," I said.Colt Ashford did not step back. He stood at the foot of my porch steps and watched me with those storm grey eyes and the mate bond pulled between us like a current in deep water, strong and patient and completely indifferent to the fact that I had been rejected less than twelve hours ago."I understand this is overwhelming," he said."Do you." It was not a question."I felt it the same moment you did.""Then you understand why I need you to step back."He took one step back. Just one. Enough to show me he was listening without pretending the distance was going to change anything.I sat down on the porch step because my legs were not entirely reliable and I pressed both hands flat on my knees and I breathed. The bond was nothing like what I had felt with Damien in the beginning. With Damien it had been immediate and consuming, the kind of thing that swallowed you whole before you had time to think. This was different. This was quieter and d
Selene POV"Who is there?" I called out.My voice came out steadier than I felt. The two sets of eyes did not move. They were low to the ground, maybe thirty meters into the tree line, and they reflected the moonlight in that particular way that animal eyes do, catching and holding the light like small mirrors.I had grown up in a werewolf pack. I knew what wolf eyes looked like. These were wolf eyes."I am not on pack territory," I said, louder this time. "This is neutral ground. I have documentation if you need it."Nothing moved. Then one set of eyes blinked and disappeared, and I heard the soft sound of something large moving through undergrowth, retreating. The second set stayed a moment longer, and I had the distinct and unsettling feeling that whatever was behind those eyes was making a decision about me.Then they were gone too.I let out a slow breath and turned back to the porch step and found the key exactly where my grandmother had always kept it. My hands were steady. I w
