Leah’s POV Unfortunately for her, she made it clear that she didn’t want to be friends with any of us. Not even my guards, and kept mostly to herself all through the morning. I decided that I had been understanding enough up to that point and if she wanted to play things this way, I would follow her lead. She soon found out that she wasn’t the one in charge of this entire situation in what was her territory, she would soon find out she was even less in charge than she thought here! Everybody had lunch together and it was kind of strange to sit at the head of the table with Eli to my left and Sebastian to my right. Thankfully, the elders joined us and it broke some of the tension, but the underlying tension remained. After lunch, everyone split up into their own groups and I was once again left in the care of my two guards. “I thought that went pretty well.” The young one commented, and the older woman burst out laughing. “If you thought that went well, you still have a lot to learn.
Leah’s POV The early morning was more of the same. Two men tried to outdo each other, but in the afternoon, we had a lot more fun! Sebastian’s pack had arranged a fair and everyone got into the spirit of the tournament as we all took part in smaller versions of the games Eli and Sebastian challenged each other in. I had great fun competing against Emily and would have liked my guards to take part as well, but I was reminded that they were there to protect me and not play. It was nice to see Sebastian after a gruelling morning still taking the time to play with the children, which was something I didn’t see with Eli. That made me wonder what kind of father Eli would be. Was that perhaps the reason the moon goddess didn’t bless him and his mate with a child of their own? Did she think they wouldn’t be good parents? I realized that I didn’t need to look far. Being Alpha and Luna of a pack meant you always carried their best interests at heart. From the clear neglect of the Omegas at Eli
Leah’s POV I was slowly starting to wonder if Sebastian wasn’t perhaps dangerous, but seeing him playing with the children, I had to laugh at the idea. Okay, so he was a werewolf alpha and all, but surely, he wouldn’t have killed his own mate, would he? I wondered how much the vampires had to do with her death and made up my mind that they were responsible. Sebastian didn’t seem like the kind of man that would hurt anyone he loved. What exactly was she doing with the vampires? How were they involved with Sebastian? “Hey, girl. Earth to Leah?” Emily’s laughing voice pierced my thoughts. “I hope that intense daydreaming has something to do with my brother.” She grinned and I didn’t want to disappoint her. After all. I was thinking about him, just not in the way Emily was probably hoping. I paid attention to the ridiculous games going on in front of me and rolled my eyes when Eli winked at me. Sebastian had won the games so far today, but it was clear that Eli had just won since he was
Leah’s POVCanines snapped as they circled each other, and I wondered how the two testosterone-filled wolves were going to fight without killing each other. Their history had proven that they had issues with each other long before I came along. A deep growl came from Eli right before he attacked and gasps echoed throughout the crowd as Sebastian moved out of the way just in time and snapped at Eli, just missing. I couldn’t look, but it was so incredible to see their self-control when it was clear that they really wanted to kill each other. I never really watched two wolves fighting like this and I was totally mesmerized. The next time Eli pounced, Sebastian was ready and Eli howled in pain as Sebastian’s teeth sank into Eli’s leg, and Sebastian won the first point.I noticed Eli’s mate sitting forward with her hand over her mouth and I really felt sorry for her. When I reject Eli, he is going to be in incredi
Leah’s POVThere was one tiny detail I didn’t take into account in my brilliant plan. Since I said that I accepted Sebastian as my mate, and not that I chose him, it changed everything. It meant we could mate! He could mark me and I would be bound to him for the rest of my life! I had practiced my speech so many times to make sure I used the correct term that I was thinking about the one I should say and then said it! I tried my best to focus on what was happening around us, but the night was fast growing to a close, which meant Sebastian and I would go up to his loft and, well, I wasn’t ready! We danced until nobody else was left, and I was beginning to wonder if Sebastian was also nervous, since he didn’t seem as if he wanted to go upstairs as well. He took my hand and as we walked into the foyer, he stopped. I frowned as he hesitated.“Would you like to go for a run?” He turned to loo
Leah’s POV I had somehow fallen asleep and was having the best dream ever when I heard an alarm sound. “Nooo,” I shoved my face into the pillow, smelling his scent all around me. “Just five more minutes.” I groaned, but as soon as I felt the mattress dip behind me, I sat upright. Emily was near the lift talking to Sebastian in a hushed voice, but her eyes kept darting in my direction. The alarm I heard had gone silent, and when Sebastian looked at me, I knew that it had something to do with Eli. The way he just disappeared after my announcement. I should have known he wouldn’t accept my decision! “Get all the warriors together. I will see you downstairs.” Sebastian sounded worried, which had me worried, and I jumped out of bed. “What’s going on, Sebastian?” He frowned and looked at Emily, who quickly disappeared into the lift. Sebastian rubbed the sides of my arms before taking my hand and leading me to the drinks tray. He poured two drinks and handed me one. “Drink that, you’re g
Leah’s POVI breathed in huge gulps of air as soon as I saw the town. I had more or less an idea of where I wanted to go. The food market seemed to be the most obvious and would probably be the first place Sebastian would look for me, but I was going straight to the supermarket parking lot. Most cars were parked there, which meant I would be able to grab a ride from there. Unfortunately, I knew how. Circumstances over the years taught me what I needed to survive. I ran through the back end of the market to lead Sebastian to the wrong place, then found the bathrooms and quickly shifted and changed. Right behind the marketplace park, the parking lot was waiting and my heart raced as I looked for the right car. Yet another thing I learned while running was to take that second or two extra to find just the right car. If you didn’t, it would cost you time in the long run.I found one and my heart was aching as adrenaline rushed thr
Leah’s POVEli softly put me down on my bed and I quickly closed my eyes. Would he declare me as his true mate now? My mind was still filled with everything I could remember from the dream, but this time there was a little more than before. However, when Eli pulled away from me, I grabbed hold of his arm.“Don’t leave, please.” He was my mate. He was supposed to stay with me and claim me. I couldn’t stop my body and mind from begging him to stay.“GET YOUR GRUBBY LITTLE HANDS OFF HIM!” His chosen mate’s voice tore through our moment and my heart nearly stopped when Eli let go of me and walked over to her. I couldn’t stand looking any longer when he softly placed his hands on her shoulders and whispered something I couldn’t hear. It all finally sank in when he gave her a soft kiss on her cheek and she glared at me before leaving.“Listen,
