Leah’s POV
Eli softly put me down on my bed and I quickly closed my eyes. Would he declare me as his true mate now? My mind was still filled with everything I could remember from the dream, but this time there was a little more than before. However, when Eli pulled away from me, I grabbed hold of his arm.
“Don’t leave, please.” He was my mate. He was supposed to stay with me and claim me. I couldn’t stop my body and mind from begging him to stay.
“GET YOUR GRUBBY LITTLE HANDS OFF HIM!” His chosen mate’s voice tore through our moment and my heart nearly stopped when Eli let go of me and walked over to her. I couldn’t stand looking any longer when he softly placed his hands on her shoulders and whispered something I couldn’t hear. It all finally sank in when he gave her a soft kiss on her cheek and she glared at me before leaving.
“Listen,
Leah’s POV I couldn’t believe what was happening to me. It still felt as if it was all a dream, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that it was all very real. I decided to find out as much as I could so I could eventually make the right choice and asked to be moved from the kitchen crew to the cleaning crew. The fact that I had been ill on my birthday was enough to convince our group leader to put me on light duty for a couple of days and I was moved to the main house for cleaning. Their idea of light duty was vastly different from mine, but I was close to where I wanted to be. As soon as I heard her shrill voice, I knew I’d made a huge mistake. “What the hell are you doing here?” Our future Luna squealed from behind me and I closed my eyes, composing myself first before I said something I would regret. “I was sick so they moved me to cleaning duty.” I didn’t bow my head to her on purpose and it didn’t go unnoticed. She wasn’t the Luna yet! “ELI!” Her screaming echoed throughout the e
Leah’s POV I couldn’t shake the awful feeling of Deja vu as I ran through the forest and found the roadside diner, but reality struck when I walked in and recognized the people. It had all been real! It wasn’t a dream! Meeting Sebastian, Eli dying, and the moon goddess! I actually met the moon goddess and she’s given me a second chance! My head started to pound as I tried to remember exactly what she said. I needed to remember! I found a car outside the diner that I could hotwire and I wasn’t even surprised that I knew how to do it. I remembered the car the moment I saw it, and dropped my bag in the back seat. As I pulled out into the road, I took a deep breath. I had to find somewhere I could lie low for a couple of days. I needed to think. There was no use in starting all of this all over again since I already knew the outcome. I wondered if Sebastian’s mate was still alive or if she had passed away yet. If I could save her, maybe I could save us all, but that wouldn’t be possible.
Leah’s POV Over the next couple of weeks, I drove around the region constantly, staying just a step ahead of Eli, but the same problem I had the first time around was slowly sticking its head out and I would soon have to stop running. I was fast heading in the direction of the first time I went through all of this, but my savings were running out and I still had no idea how I would approach Sebastian. If his mate was still alive, it would be of no use for me to walk in there and proclaim that somewhere in the future-past I was his mate. Until I could figure out a way to know for sure whether his mate was alive, I had to keep my distance. I found a roadside diner that wasn’t one of the places I had worked for before and this time, I didn’t apply to be a waitress. I applied to be an assistant cook, which I knew I was good at. That way, very few people would see me come and go and Eli’s men wouldn’t have such an easy task at finding me. I made sure to tell my new boss that I had an abus
Leah’s POV Soon didn’t happen as soon as I thought it would. I sighed as I looked at the date before rushing off to work. It was the one-year anniversary of the day I left my pack and I still hadn’t figured out a way to find out if Sebastian’s mate was still alive. I was wasting the previous time the moon goddess had given me and Eli’s men were getting closer and closer to finding me each time. Time would soon run out, but at least then I would know Sebastian’s mate wasn’t alive anymore. Wow! That was morbid! Wishing someone’s mate was dead so I could be with him. “Leah! There’s phone for you!” The friendly owner of the diner called and I wiped my hands before going to her office. My thoughts were still on Sebastian when I answered, not thinking. “Leah!” The soft growl in Eli’s voice made my heart skip a beat. “Eli,” I sighed. “How did you find me?” I should have known that he would eventually find me, and I rolled my eyes as he explained that he simply told them he was a relative
Leah’s POV I was dumbstruck! My heart stopped beating and my blood froze in my veins. How was it even possible?! Of all the damn places in the world, he had to walk into mine! Did the damn moon goddess hate me that much?! “Come on, dearie.” My new boss’s voice burst through my thoughts and I came alive again. “We have customers that need attention.” She smiled and I was about to explain when she shoved me through her office door. “Good luck!” She grinned from ear to ear and slammed the damn door in my face! I was in a total state of shock! I hadn’t seen Sebastian since the day he killed Eli! Yet, he looked so much younger. Had my time already run out already?! I wiped my sweaty palms on my small bartender’s apron and cleared my throat. There was only one way out of this and that was the front door. If I walked quickly, I saw his nose lift a little as he sniffed the air and I ducked behind the bar waving the barman closer. “Can you help them?” My eyes pleaded for him to help me just
Leah’s POVSebastian’s room was also slightly different. The modern kitchen appliances from before weren’t there, and the closet door was locked. It hadn’t been locked when I was here before. The bedding was a different colour and there was a blanket on the couch that made me wonder if his mate was still alive or if she’d died recently. I didn’t want to push the subject even though I was dying to know. Sebastian was rushing around the place clearing up, which was also a total contrast to what it was before. Almost as if this time around nobody came around to clean! I dropped my bag and walked over to the balcony that I had escaped from before and almost breathed a loud sigh of relief to see the stairs leading outside.“I …” Sebastian hesitated. “I would have offered you something to eat, but I haven’t been out shopping lately.” His words made me bur
Leah’s POV “And have a stronger enemy that wants to ruin me?” He scoffed. “No. I can’t do that to anyone.” He shook his head. “Oh?” I felt a little shocked. “But you can kill her?” I was feeling utterly defensive. Remembering the last time I saw him, and what he did, I had to remind myself before I did or said something that I couldn’t take back, that he was a different person now. He was a little younger and something must have happened that made him act the way he did. The moon goddess wouldn’t have given me a second chance for no reason. I sighed heavily. “No, I won’t kill her.” He looked sad. “I don’t know what to do. If I let her go, she is definitely going to publish that story. I can’t imagine keeping her locked away for the rest of her life. I couldn’t turn her as I explained.” I could see he was really torn up about this, but there was more to it. I could feel it through our bond. I had to change the subject because this was leading us down the wrong road fast. “Tell me so
Leah’s POV My mind was made up. I had to find a way to reject Eli in this life before Sebastian found out who it was. I needed to finish that chapter of my life for good. I couldn’t keep doing this. I couldn’t be the reason for Sebastian killing Eli. As we walked into the dining room, silence fell. I took the time to look at the faces of the people I already knew, but they didn’t know me yet. They looked so happy to see what they thought was their future Luna. Gossip could spread so damn fast throughout the packs, that I knew, all of them already knew who I was. I couldn’t help myself. I felt as if I was finally home. The memories of Sebastian killing Eli no longer mattered. I was home. I had found my mate, and it was a brand-new beginning for all of us. A new life where I could finally live in peace and have everything I dreamed of. I thanked Sebastian as he pulled out my chair for me and sat down blushing brightly when I looked at all the faces looking back at us. “Now, you’ve all
