I stood in the servants' quarters with the court lady and other maidservants who gathered around the hallway.

"This is Ira," the court lady said. "She will be joining you all as a part of the king's palace maids."

I felt the burning gazes of every single one of them as they assessed me.

"She is yet to discover her wolf," the court lady said, eliciting some snickers around.

"Would she ever?" a feminine voice said from the crowd, eliciting giggles.

I wasn't fazed. It wasn't the first time I'd gotten roasted about my non-existent abilities.

I'd taken it as a part of the life I chose to lead - a life I was currently not living as a result of my situation.

Khanos, on the other hand, didn't appreciate their remarks. Never did.
