[Matilda]

"Kaden, why aren't you saying anything? What is she doing here and whose bags are those?" My voice wavered, my heart clenching painfully as I searched his face for answers. Kaden looked up at me, scoffing, shaking his head like I was nothing more than a joke

"And who are you to ask me questions in my house, Matilda?"

"Your wife, of course," I shot back, my voice trembling with defiance

Kaden scoffed, tilting his head as his gaze shifted to the maids who were taking the bags upstairs

Their movement didn't distract me from the mocking laughter ringing behind me, the two uninvited women in my house, basking in their audacity as if my house were some stage for their entertainment

Kaden signaled the maids to take the last luggage that he had in his hands that I hadn't even noticed earlier before he turned towards me, his silver orbs staring right into mine

"Does that give you the right to ask stupid questions here? Do you even know how much a house costs, and how dare you question my guests about what they are doing in my home?"

My heart sank, the weight of his words crushing me as they left his lips. Of course, Kaden wouldn't miss the opportunity to remind me of my place in his life. Just a golddigger who schemed her way into his world like he always accuses me of

"Kaden, I..." My words trailed off as the voice of that thing echoed behind me.

"Kay!" Cherry called out. My fist clenched at my sides as I stood frozen in place, lowering my head, as shame coursed all over me. They had likely heard everything with how loud Kaden's voice was

"I think my stomach is acting up, I need to use the restroom, where did they take my bags, I need something from it!" Cherry voiced out, ignoring my presence as she walked closer to my husband. Kaden immediately snaked his hand around her waist, drawing her closer.

"Are you okay? What's wrong?" Kaden asked, his eyes softening as he stared at Cherry

"Kay, you worry too much, our baby is fine, I just need to use the restroom!"

Something snapped inside of me as that word left Cherry's lips. Our baby? My brow furrowed, my heart pounding so hard, it felt like it would break through my ribcage. What baby is she talking about?

"Ask the maid over there to show you to the master's bedroom, that is where you will be staying!" Kaleb said softly to her, making my insides churn violently

"What are you talking about? Which master's bedroom? What do you mean by that's where she will be staying? That's our room, Kaden! And why is your mistress in our home?" My heart skipped a bit as those words tumbled from my lips. I stood frozen, watching as a smirk danced across Cherry's face. She took her time scanning me from head to toe before turning to Kaden, and placing a soft kiss on his lips.

"I will do exactly that, baby!" Cherry chirped, about to take a step away from us. Anger surged through me immediately and I stormed forward, my hand reaching for hers but before I could grab it, Kaden's hand shot out, gripping mine with a force that instantly held me back

"Fucking let me go, Kaden. What is all this? Why are you sending her to our room? Why are you disrespecting me like this, Kaden? We agreed that..." My words faltered as tears began streaming down my cheeks. I lifted my head locking my eyes with Cherry who smirked at me before turning and heading out

Tears slid down my cheeks, humiliation flooding my veins as I stared at my husband

"Kaden, what is all this? What did I do to you to deserve all of this? Was loving you a crime? You left me after your father's burial, and now you are back after a week, moving in with your mistress, and what was she saying about a baby? What the hell is going on, Kaden!"

Kaden's eyes flashed with a hint of guilt, but was quickly wiped away, his expression hardening as he pulled his hand away from mine making me stumble backward

"Never in your life should you ever try to stand against my orders, what were you trying to do, lay your filthy hands on my woman?"

"What the hell do you mean, Kaden? Why is she here, and what baby of yours was she talking about?"

"The one you clearly couldn't give him for three years, even after your evil acts just to become Mrs Donovan, still that womb remained barren!" Loretta snapped behind me cutting through the silence, freezing me in place - barren. I can't even recall how many times Loretta and my mother-in-law have called me that name

"Loretta, stay out of this!" Kaden snapped at his sister, but what difference does it make? He insults me in their presence at every given opportunity.

"She needs to be told the truth, brother, she is nothing but a whore and a blatant liar, so..."

"Loretta, don't make me repeat myself. Get out of here and don't make me say it twice."

"Fine, but I hope you give her the divorce papers already, so she can get the fuck out of here! We have tolerated her for a long time!" My gaze shifted to Loretta, my eyes widening as I stared back at my husband

I felt a knot form in my chest as that word rang in my ear. Divorce papers

"What...what is she talking about? What did your sister just say, I mean what divorce papers are..."

"Listen, Matilda, enough of your stupid and disgusting questions, and yes, everything you heard was right, Cherry is carrying my child, and from this second you're not allowed into the master's bedroom, take one of the rooms downstairs until tomorrow when you'll be..." Kaden paused and took a step toward the couch. I watched him retrieve his briefcase, he unzipped it and took out a large brown file

At this point, I was no longer breathing, every word Kaden said rang twice in my ear, I stood frozen like a statue, I could swear I was already seeing double, my heart clenched, and I could feel bile rising in my throat.

"These are divorce papers!" Kaden's voice snapped me back to reality, making my eyes dart towards him.

Before I could even glance at the file he was holding, my head began to spin, my heart tightened, and it felt like no air was reaching my lungs - tears rolled down my face, and the bile I had been fighting to control rose. Without wasting another second, I turned and ran towards the nearest room

I opened the door to one of the guest rooms and rushed towards the washroom, without thinking, I collapsed on the toilet, gushing out everything that was stuck in my throat

"What's wrong? Are you okay?" Kaden's voice echoed behind me, and I felt a hand gently drawing circles on my back. My mind was too clouded to focus on who it was, but I knew the voice was Kaden's

The voice suddenly became distant. I tried to say something but my voice got cut in my throat as my eyes slowly fluttered shut.

"She's carrying my child!" Kaden's voice repeated in my head over and over and that was the last thing my brain registered before darkness claimed me

  • Cold-Hearted Billionaire Ex-Husband Wants Me Back    Chapter 270 - I don't mind

[Matilda]"Tell me, baby, were you jealous? Did you think I left here just to go see Scarlet?" The words pierced into my head and I swear I wanted the ground to open and swallow me whole. My heart skipped, and my lips pressed together as I stared back at Kaden. I could have fucking stayed on my own. He wasn't even with her. And here I was thinking he already had her in his bed. She only called for him to save up his number and I was almost going insane with so many thoughts building up in my head.I opened my mouth to say anything but I quickly shut it back because the fact is that of course, I was jealous. Stupidly jealous that I had to fake a sickness just to get him to come back here.A smile curled up on his lips and I already knew that he could see through me. He knew the answer, he could tell I was jealous and called him here on purpose.I was waiting for him to say it out. That I wasn't sick and that I purposely called him here. I was already bracing myself to hear that but ins

  • Cold-Hearted Billionaire Ex-Husband Wants Me Back    Chapter 269 - Tell me, baby

[Kaden]I walked out of the pharmacy, taking long strides toward my car as Tilda’s voice echoed in my ear. The way she sounded… if she was feeling sick, then why the hell hadn’t she told me earlier? And she just let me leave?I slid into the driver’s seat, started the engine, and pulled out, the low rumble of the car filling the silence. I’d been having a drink with Ryan when her call came in.My hand tightened around the steering wheel as I took a slow, deep breath. I hope she’s okay.I decided not to press her any further and that was the reason I left. She was avoiding me. It was obvious. I didn’t want to make her any angrier, not when I was still holding onto the hope of having her back.As her house came into view, I hit the remote for the gate, the metal bars sliding open. I drove straight to the garage, killed the engine, and stepped out, my pace quickening toward the porch. If she’d told me to use my spare key, it had to be serious. The moment I pushed the door open, I noticed

  • Cold-Hearted Billionaire Ex-Husband Wants Me Back    Chapter 268 - What exactly is wrong with me?

[Matilda]"Oh, Scarlet." The name rolled off his tongue like it meant something more than just a word. My heart clenched, my lips pursed, and I just couldn’t help it as my eyes stayed rooted on his face, drinking in every little detail. He shifted his eyes back to me and a faint smile appeared on his lips. "Alright, I’ll do just that," Kaden said on the phone and hung up. He smiled again and tucked the phone back into his pocket.I swallowed hard, my heart hammering in my chest like it wanted to break free. God, the words were almost on my lips — why did she call? What did she say? Why the hell was he smiling like that? But I held back, my eyes shifting to where he was still holding my hands tightly."Are you going to let go of my hands now?" My voice came out sharper than I intended. He stared at me, opened his mouth as if to say something but quickly shut it back.He loosened his hand on mine and cleared his throat. I walked past him immediately, heading toward the shopping bags. I

  • Cold-Hearted Billionaire Ex-Husband Wants Me Back    Chapter 267 - Is this because of?

[Matilda]Why the hell am I angry? That is what I've been asking myself all through the day. We’d gone from the zoo to the amusement park, then grabbed something to eat at a restaurant, and Kaden still insisted we swing by the mall for a few things for my house.I just couldn't help the way my heart was squeezing so tightly. My hand hovered over my phone as I sat in the passenger seat. I was pressing absolutely nothing, but anything to keep Kaden from making conversation with me right now.The kids were chatting in the backseat, talking about one animal to the other. My lips pursed as I swiped through my screen, looking at nothing in particular."We should hang out before I leave the country!" The lady's voice echoed over my head again and I felt my heart squeeze even more.Hugging her wasn't enough for him and he had to give her his contact. I don't care that she lunged toward him. But he stayed still, he stood still until she was done hugging him, and pulled back. And what exactly

  • Cold-Hearted Billionaire Ex-Husband Wants Me Back    Chapter 266 - Is this what I'm thinking?

[Kaden]Before I could blink, she lunged into my arms. My body stiffened for a heartbeat. I swallowed hard, clearing my throat slightly."Oh my God, Kaden!" she gasped, pulling back almost as quickly as she’d come, her lips stretching into a smile that looked like it could split her face. Her eyes swept over me in a quick scan, like she was checking to make sure I was real. "I didn’t know I’d run into you. Oh, I’m so happy," Scarlet squealed.I let my lips twitch into a polite smile. "It’s been a while," I murmured. She nodded, still grinning, as if my words were the best thing she’d heard all week."I lost my mom… so I just got into the country two days ago. God, it’s been forever. You look—" her gaze darted from my face to my shoulders "Different. I mean… more handsome." The excitement practically rolled off her in waves."Mommy, Daddy, who is this?"The small voice snapped my attention to my left, where Austin was now standing beside me.I glanced at Tilda. She stood frozen, Aiden'

  • Cold-Hearted Billionaire Ex-Husband Wants Me Back    Chapter 265 - Is this really you?

[Kaden]It’s been exactly two weeks since Tilda forgave me. Honestly, these past two weeks have been some of the best I’ve had in a long time. We’ve spent most of our time together. The kids also went back to school, and Aiden was excited about it—even though Austin didn’t want to go.He’d gotten a bit too used to being home and was moody all day when they resumed, even when Tilda and I came to pick them up. He wasn't as happy to talk about his day as his twin brother.I made sure to take them shopping almost every day after school just for a few hours, so they could pick out things they wanted and have as much fun as they wanted.Spending time with my kids and Matilda has been one of my happy pills. Even though Tilda was bent on not giving me a chance. I had asked her again and again and her answer has been a firm no. But I wasn't giving up. I will only keep hoping while trying everything I could for her to understand that I wasn't the man I used to be to her.I would occasionally ca
