The yard was quiet at dawn, the sky streaked with pale gold and gray. The air carried the scent of dew and iron—the smell of earth after a storm, though no rain had fallen.

We were in a random open field, a place Ciro claimed no one would find us. I’d finally acknowledged my power and he’d seen it too. Now here I stood in the middle of the clearing, my arms wrapped around myself as if I could contain the restless energy thrumming beneath my skin.

He said I had to train, to control my powers so they wouldn’t manifest in front of the wrong people.

Ciro watched me with his usual intensity, arms folded, his broad frame relaxed but his eyes sharp. Beside him, Amaya shifted on her feet, nervous but determined, her gaze flicking between me and him as though she wasn't sure which of us was more dangerous.

"Again," Ciro said.

I clenched my jaw. "It doesn't work like that. It just... happens."

"That's why we're here," he replied evenly. "To make it not just happen. To make it obey."

Obey. As i

Ciro's POVI found Duncan exactly where I knew he'd be—lurking in the council wing like a vulture waiting for scraps. He leaned against the stone archway, speaking to a pair of advisors who scattered the moment they caught sight of me storming down the corridor. His smirk didn't falter. If anything, it grew. "Alpha."The word dripped with false respect. A mockery. "Stay away from her," I growled, voice low and lethal. His brows arched in mock innocence. "Her? Ah. Jasmine." He drew out her name like it was something bitter on his tongue. "The weak, useless human I discarded ? The one you declared your Luna? Sure, I will. I have no use of ..."I was in front of him before the words even finished, fisting his collar and slamming him hard against the wall. The impact shook dust from the stone."You dare—" I began, but Duncan's laugh cut me off, sharp and cruel."She's weak, Ciro. Always has been. Even her own pack knew it. Her parents despised her, locked her up in shame. I was there. I

Ciro’s POVThe council chamber was dim, the tall windows shuttered against the late afternoon sun. I sat at the head of the table, fingers steepled, my gaze fixed on the grain of the wood rather than the faces across from me. Falcon sat to my left, silent as always, though I could feel the weight of his thoughts pressing against the air. Isabella perched on the right, her dark hair tumbling over her shoulders, her eyes sharp even as worry softened them.I broke the silence first. "The rogues weren't just scavengers looking for blood. They came for Jasmine."Isabella stiffened, her lips parting, fear flashing across her features. "For her?""Yes." I let the word drop heavy. "They were relentless. They cornered her, and she would've been dead if not for..." My jaw tightened. "Whatever it is that woke inside her."Falcon's brows furrowed, but he said nothing. He'd seen enough battles to know silence could be the heaviest answer."She used something," I continued. "A power I've never seen

The halls of the packhouse were hushed, the kind of silence that came after a storm. Wolves moved about quietly, some casting me guarded looks, others pretending I wasn't there at all. I didn't blame them. It was odd. I thought they respected me now. I shrugged it off. Wolves were strange creatures after all. I needed answers. Training wasn’t enough. I needed to know what I was, how I’d come to be, and if it all connected to Amy. She said we weren’t supposed to exist. I needed to see her, but I had to do something first. The storm inside me wasn't going to vanish just because I wished it away. If anything, it was growing stronger. The library. That was where I'd start. That book I had been looking at before Ciro’s interruption. It had something, I was certain. I kept my head down as I padded through the corridors, but a voice stopped me just before the main staircase."Lost in thought again?"Falcon.I blinked, startled, and nearly collided with him as he stepped into my path. His

Unknown POVThe shadows were my allies. They clung to me like a second skin as I lingered in the corridor outside the Alpha's study.Ciro's voice carried through the wooden door, low but deliberate. Falcon's was sharper, tinged with the kind of unease only a soldier could hide poorly."They weren't after the pack," Falcon said. "They were after her. Jasmine."Ciro's reply was a growl, restrained but lethal. "Then we make sure they don't get her. Double the patrols. Every entrance, every exit. She doesn't leave these walls until I say so."My lips curved. So the little human girl had claws sharp enough to draw rogue blood and Alpha's attention. Interesting.I slipped away before the conversation ended, as silent as possible. The information was enough. The rogues had attacked for her, and yet they'd failed. I needed a confirmation as to why. My mind trailed off to that day, when I’d tried to kill her at the hospital. I don’t remember what I saw. When I’d tried to explain it, no words c

The dim light up above cast a soft, warm glow in the office. I sat curled on the armchair, knees drawn up to my chest, my chin resting against them. Ciro leaned against the desk across from me, arms folded loosely, his gaze steady but unreadable. The silence between us stretched, heavy but not suffocating. Things had changed between us. I hadn’t figured out if it's in a good way or a bad way. "You're quiet," he finally said. His voice carried no accusation, just an observation."I don't have much to say," I murmured, though the truth was I had too much. My head was a storm, my chest tight with questions and memories that refused to settle. His brows lifted, just slightly. "You always have something to say. You just don't trust yourself to say it."I shot him a look, sharp and defensive, but I didn't deny it. Instead, I shifted my gaze to the fire in the hearth, watching the flames chew slowly at what little wood remained."You should stay here," he said after a beat. That pulled my a
