Chapter Eight

Diablo takes them back to his place.he takes Holene to her guest room, for a nap. Luna and Rora, admire the cave. He built a cozy mention inside a cave.

Theo is skeptical, “You're the son of the king of the werewolves, and this is your home?”

Diabo is irritated, “I don’t live with my father. I don’t live off of my father. We haven’t even spoken in over a year.”

Theo crosses his arms, “And why not?”

Diablo mimics him, “My dad isn’t what he used to be. He’s obsessed with finding Jolene. He’s out of control and uses cruel and unusual punishments on wolves that don’t deserve it.

Theo studies him for a moment and then decides to drop it. He walks to Jolene's room and peaks in on her. He watches her for a moment and can’t contain his smile. She starts to move and he speed walks to his room.

Jolene's eyes open, she looks around and sees that she's alone. She shakes off that feeling like someones watching her, and she drifts back to sleep.

Luna and Rora can't stop touching the wall. The cave echos with their giggles. Rora sings her chants. Luna touches the trickles of water and feels the textures.

Luna whispers, “Diablo has been alone for a long time.”

She doesn’t realize that he's behind her, “The water told you that?”

She jumps from his sudden voice, “yes!”

She smiles, “Water has stories to tell, as long as you are willing to listen.”

He admires her as she continues to investigate.

Theo joins Rora, “I don’t know about this..”

Rora stops singing, “about what?”

He takes a heavy breath, “This Diablo, character. What if he's trapping us. What if he’s going to use her to get back into the kingdom?”

Rora shakes her head, “No, he left his father. He’s hiding from him, just like Jolene.”

Theo gives her a questionable look, “how do you know?”

Rora points to the dust, “I know a spell, the dust told me.”

He wants to argue, but he’s learned that Rora is all about the truth. Instead, he goes to his room. He sits on his bed and channels his inner wolf.

His wolf: I like her.

Theo: Me too.

His wolf: No, I like Jolene.

Theo: Me too.

His wolf: Stop leading Rora on..

Theo: We’re just friends.

His wolf: Does she know that?

Theo: I never flirted!

His wolf brings back memories from them giggling, and laughing. All the times she placed her hand on his knee and he never noticed. When they hug she gives kisses, but they're so soft he never noticed.

Theo opens his eyes and starts to pace around the room. He can’t believe that he never noticed. He can’t break Rora’s heart, but he can’t have Jolene thinking he likes Rora. Would that be a bad thing? He can’t like Jolene anyway, he’s not her Soulmate.

His wolf growls from deep within, but he ignores him.

Hey stone off guard when Jolene asks, “When can we start our training?”

His lack of trust, and Diablo causes him to be careful, “I’m not sure. We’d have to find a safe place first.”

She starts to walk away, and all he hears is her shouting from down the hall, “Are you coming or not? There Has to be a place nearby.”

He runs after her, “We can’t do it here!”

She doesn’t agree, “Why not?”

He doesn’t want to tell her that he doesn’t trust her brother, but she can see it in his eyes.

She shrugs, “As long as you’re with me, then I am safe. Let’s go for a little walk into the woods, maybe we’ll find a spot.”

He likes her eagerness, so he stops trying to fight her. They walk together for a while. They come across a river, and Jolene feels herself getting excited.

“This is the spot,” she declares.

He is skeptical, “Why this spot?”

She blushes, “It’s ironic, don't you think we met in a spot just like this, so why not train at a spot like it too? I feel like all goddesses will be smiling at us while we train?”

He didn’t think of it like that, but now that she puts it that way this seems like the perfect spot.

They spend a few hours practicing. It is with Jolene laying on her back grounding in pain. Theo thumps down on the ground besides her and keep stop the heart filled laughter that escapes his chest.

She asks, “What's so funny?”

In between laughs he answers, “For someone that doesn’t know how to fight you are extremely strong and quick. I was expecting training you to be a difficult task, but for the first day that was awkwardly easy.”

They both laugh. She turns to face him and subconsciously runs her fingers through his sweaty hair. He flinches at her gentle touch and runs off. She turns back on her back and stares up at the sun.

She whispers, “I’m new to this, but I’ve heard of the earth goddess and the water goddess and the moon goddess, but is there a sun goddess?”

A deep chuckle comes from the sky. Jolene jumps up and looks around but no one’s near her.

A deep voice booms from the sky, “My name is Apollo, I am the sun God. I am not a goddess. I am a god.”

Jolene should be terrified, but she feels honored, “It’s nice to meet you Apollo.”

He replies, “The honor is mine. Please let Luna know that Apollo sent his regards and is watching over you as well.”

Whispers thank you, and the warmth of the sun on her cheeks shows her that he is there.

The excitement overflows her, and she runs to find Luna. She runs past Theo and she runs past Diablo. Both guys run after her because they are worried about her speed.

She can’t contain herself when she sees Luna and shouts, “Apollo spoke to me!”

Luna is filled with excitement, “When?”

Jolene declares, “Theo and I were training and then he left. I started talking to the sun to see if there was a goddess and he laughed at me and told me that he’s a god not a goddess and we had a nice little conversation but then he told me to let you know that he will be protecting me as well.”

Luna and Rora are so excited that they wrap their arms around Jolene.
