I entered my house with Jeremy to see my mother wailing on the floor and Selena trying to calm her down. She was lamenting bitterly, almost going naked as her wrapper loosed from her waist. Thank Goodness, she tied two.
"It's okay mom, Emily is here already" She said, holding mom firmly, as she struggled to pat the back of our mother and tries to catch each drop of tears that swam down her cheeks.
Mom paused as she recognized my presence. She wiped her nose with her wrapper. "What have I done to you, my child. Answer me!" she scolded.
"Who told them the news?" I whispered to Jerry with jammed teeth as we were standing beside each other at the moment.

I got home from church. The thick, burnt smell of fried chicken tickled the tip of my nose just seconds after my tummy rumbled. I pressed my hand on my stomach to calm the boys fighting inside.
