Chapter 13

When I had opened the door, I had not expected to find Alpha Tatum standing on the other side. It looked like he had just stepped out of the shower and gotten dressed. His short black hair was mussy and wet. The smell of strong liquor wafted towards me, and I had to do my best not to gag.

It wasn’t that the smell of alcohol bothered me, but it was what it did to those who drank it. In my experience, it was never a good sign when someone drank. I had countless run-ins with Chad over the years when he had drunk himself into a stupor. Not that I had ever done anything to provoke his beatings, but when he drank it was completely different.

Oddly I didn’t feel the fear that I was accustomed to when facing this Alpha after he had clearly been drinking. My curiosity as to why he was standing outside my door after midnight was piqued.
