LOGINSavannah’s POV
My heart was racing, I didn’t look back in horror of being followed, Steven was calling me from behind, I stopped once I was out of this building and standing in the small park around. I was panting, my eyes teary, I didn’t believe when Anna called out to me and informed me about the mate, I thought she was missing Bruce, Tyler’s wolf but she strongly repeated that she isn’t talking about Tyler or Bruce, she was hinting about her second mate that is present in the council.
As I followed the direction she was pointing at, my breath hitched, because our eyes got locked the moment I raised my head, it was like he already knew I was coming and he was waiting for me to show up. The exchange of our gaze confirmed me that Anna was right, I was granted another mate, but it couldn’t be possible, it’s wrong, so so wrong.
I spun on my heels and started to run.
‘Luna? Are you alright? Why run so suddenly?’ Steven rested his hand on my shoulder asking worried but before I could tell him what had happened with me, I heard a deep angry growl. Steven and I both shuddered and turned to see the source, my heart sank, he had found me. I watched the man, my expected me mate, standing at few distance glaring at Steven’s hand on my shoulder.
‘Excuse me, who are you?’ Steven shielded me and asked sternly, I pressed my lip between my teeth and looked anxiously at the man ahead, his eyes not leaving mine.
‘Shouldn’t I be the one asking this?’ he directed this question at me, smirking. My brow knitted, what was he thinking? Don’t tell me he is taking Steven’s care for me, to do something wrong.
‘Please, Mr., talk to me and not her, whatever your concern is, I will address’ I heard him chuckle and take slow steps towards us, towards me. I stepped back, unconsciously making distance from him. I was still unable to understand the possibility of having a mate. I had lost me mate just two months before, I had a son, I am damn mother and since when mother’s got second mate.
It isn’t right, I looked at him again, his expressions cold and stern, I gulped. He doesn’t seem to know me, which means he doesn’t know anything about me and my life, there is high chance he will reject me instantly the moment I will tell him about Zachary.
Of course, which man accepts another man’s child, I sighed.
‘Isn’t that we are looking to as well?’ Anna whispered and it struck me, I don’t want another mate, not because I am not ready yet, I will never be. The main reason is I don’t want to ditch Tyler; he was my mate and will remain only mate always. Besides, I don’t want to raise Zachary under stepfather roof when he has his own pack and house, his father left for him. He is Alpha’s son, having Alpha blood.
I inhaled deeply; I think I have got enough reasons for him to reject me. With a final thought I raised my head to look at him, he was arguing with Steven, he looked annoyed and a little bit grumpy.
‘Why don’t you understand, I have to talk to her, whoever you are, move aside, I don’t want to use my hands’ he sounded angry, Steven got the temper too and stepped ahead ready to have a fight when I intervened and held his arm.
‘Not’ I shook my head.
‘But you heard him’ he was trying to make reasoning with me, I understand him, but he doesn’t know the actual reason the man in front was getting annoyed and angry.
‘Leave it to me.’ I patted him on shoulder, ushering him to go and leave the talk with him to me. I heard another growl escaping from his mouth, he was fuming at this point, and Steven was reluctant to leave me alone with him, but I assured him that I would be fine and would be back inside the waiting area in a five to ten minutes max.
As he stepped back, I sighed and looked at the man who was my mate, I licked my lips before summoning the courage to speak when he beat me into it and grabbed my hand harshly yanking it, I yelped not expecting this from him.
‘Who is he to you?’ I was surprised by the question but then it clicked to me, mates don’t tolerate touches from opposite genders on their mates and I and Steven were patting each other on arms as we have gotten used to of it.
‘It shouldn’t be important to you,’ I hissed at the pain that was surging in my arm and I realized I chose the wrong words, but it was too late, my words had ignited him, as consequences, he pulled me towards him, stumbling I leaned to his body and felt the shot electric current, I swiftly detached myself.
‘You’ve got your answer, why is it important for me’ I averted my gaze, it wasn’t like I didn’t know but we aren’t moving forward with it and I had to let him know.
‘What is your name?’ Ignoring, I asked him instead and he chuckled bitterly.
‘Why? You want to reject me?’ I shook my head; this wasn’t going right. His blood was boiling and this could mess up things.
‘Please calm down, you’re misunderstanding everything’ I said politely, hoping he could understand this time, my touch did work, and his eyes soften, he exhaled a weary sigh and closed his eyes shut, taking a deep breath.
‘Sorry, I was driven by my emotions’ he excused, I nodded, don’t know what drove his emotions so wild but anyways.
‘What am I misunderstanding here? His question was swift, not even letting me to take a break, I licked my lips, eyed him before speaking up.
‘My name is Savannah and I am Luna of White Stone Pack, the man with me was my beta’ his eyes widened and he gave me an odd stare as if I have grown something on my head.
‘Look, it may sound weird to you, but I have a ten year old son as well’ he raised his hand to stop me.
‘Wait, let me repeat it, you are Luna and have a son, means you already have a mate, than how we could be mates’ I gulped down the tears ready to spill.
‘My mate is dead’ there was a long pause, I was trying to control my emotions and about him I don’t know what was going on in his mind. I inhaled a deep breath and continued to tell him more about me, the reason was to make him understand that we aren’t the best match, hell, we were not even any match to begin with.
‘Moreover, I have the responsibility of running the pack my mate has left. He was Alpha, I can’t leave the pack, they need me, my son, he needs me and I don’t think raising him under a stepfather’s roof would be wise, obviously, you won’t appreciate the sight of other man’s child using your money.’ His face was straight, void of any expression, I found it difficult to understand but then suddenly he laughed and shook his head as if he found it amusing.
‘Why does it feel like persuading me to reject you’ I closed my eyes; it was awkward.
‘It’s not like you would need a mate who has been already mated to someone and has the kid’ he pressed his lips tight as if debating on making a decision, I was confused because after listening to this he shouldn’t be taking time to think instead should have rejected me promptly.
‘Did you kill your mate?’ my eyes snapped at him, how did he know, I lost the voice and he eyed me suspiciously.
Kevin POV‘No, I didn’t’ she swiftly reacted and blurted out.‘I didn’t kill him; he died because of heart attack’ she said tiredly, tears rolling down on her cheeks. Through our mate bond I could feel her grief and pain, and instantly regretted accusing her, I should have asked her instead about why she is here, it would have been better. While I was listening her listing down the reasons why I should reject her, Jonathan mind linked me, informing me the reason of her presence, she was summoned by council for poisoning her husband and I didn’t hesitate to ask her, for a moment I believed on council’s accusation but the sorrow I am feeling right now, her emotions passing in me, I am feeling bad for her.She had crouched down on her knees, silently weeping, maybe missing her died mate, when I, her second chance mate was standing right beside her, but she doesn’t care, she even was trying her best to persuade me to reject her.My mind wasn’t working right now, as if it had fogged, my em

Kevin’s POVI lazily watched Jonathan parking the car in parking lot of council office, while I was eyeing this masterpiece of architect.‘I understand that you and Carl want to explode this building but please consider huge amounts of money of all packs that have been spent on it, we worked hard to earn it. Have mercy brother’ Jonathan said playfully, I narrowed my eyes at him and sighed annoyingly.‘Why the hell do we all packs waste our money on them? We should have burnt them instead’ I said bitterly. I never liked the idea of having a council, but it wasn’t our decision, it was taken by our great grandfathers, and they thought to have a neutral office, who can act as source of justice, equality between packs, keeping them distant from any war and not letting any pack go in danger.Since then, we all packs are bound to give a certain amount of money to run the operations of council. Well, it was still fine with me, I always thought that I was giving charity on behalf of my pack, b
Savannah’s POV‘Luna?’‘Huh?’ I was startled and blinked my eyes before looking at Steven, my beta.‘We have arrived,” he informed to me gently and with respect, he has been loyal with me all this time and had been a great support for me. I pressed my lips and forced a smile, giving him a firm nod and turned my head to look out the two story building, built on large area of land.A cold sigh escaped, it was my first time coming to the council’s office. This big office never interferes in operational matters of any pack, they give no damn on how Alpha and Luna are running their pack, but they become active the moment they learn about any crime, or bribery, or threat looming over any pack. Most of the time they are playing a role of peace maker and keeping the track of packs, if they are running fine and smooth or need assistance from them. They couldn’t be reached by any ordinary member easily, they only communicated with Alpha and Luna’s of the pack, in White Stone Pack, it was Tyler
