Kiera’s pov

I stood outside Susan’s house, staring down at my phone.

The screen was turned off now and My fingers tightened slightly before I exhaled shakily.

Everything inside me felt… wrong. Empty and cold. Or maybe— I had just Changed.

Because the girl who had driven away from the pack house, crying and shaking and barely able to breathe… she didn’t feel like me anymore.

That version of me had shattered somewhere along the road.

And what was left? I didn’t recognize her yet.

I swallowed hard, forcing my expression to look calm because no one could know.

No one could know how badly I had messed up. How close I was to losing everything.

How much I had already lost.

Before I could change my mind, the door in front of me opened and I saw Susan standing there.

“What’s wrong?” she asked immediately.

I shook my head quickly, forcing a small smile. “Nothing. I’m fine.”

She didn’t believe me.

I could see it in the way her eyes narrowed but for once… She didn’t push.

Instead, she let out a quiet sigh and stepped aside.

“Come in,” she said.

I walked past her and the moment I stepped inside, I realized how quiet it was and that made it worse.

Because now there was nothing to distract me or stop my mind from going back to it. To them. Rafael and Alice, having sex on my table.

I clenched my fists and swallowed painfully.

How did I not see it? How?

My father had warned me. And even Susan had never liked him.

Not once.

“Something about him feels off,” she had said more than once.

But I had ignored her because I had been too caught up in how he made me feel.

I laughed softly under my breath, but there was no humor in it.

“God, I was stupid…”

“Kiera?”

I blinked, realizing Susan was watching me again.

I straightened and forced my expression to relax. “Hmm?”

She tilted her head, studying me like she was trying to piece something together.

Then, just like that, she changed the subject.

“I actually wanted to invite you somewhere,” she said.

I blinked, caught off guard. “Where?”

“The new club opening tonight,” she replied. “My family’s hosting it.”

A club?

I almost said no immediately because that was what I always did.

I didn’t go anywhere without Rafael knowing and without his approval. It had become… my normal.

Susan even snorted lightly, like she already knew what I was going to say.

“Actually, forget it,” she added with a smile. “There’s no point asking you. You’d say no unless your precious mate allows it.”

Something inside me snapped at her words.

Because that version of me… the one who waited, the one who needed his permission— She suddenly felt… pathetic and weak.

And I didn’t want to be her anymore.

“I’ll come,” The words left my mouth before I could second-guess them.

Susan froze.

“…Wait. What?”

“I said I’ll come,” I repeated.

She stared at me for a second, clearly shocked.

Then a smile spread across her face.

She definitely knew something was wrong.

I could see it in her eyes but she also understood something else— I didn’t want questions.

Not yet, I just wanted… To get away and escape for the night.

“Alright,” she said finally. “I’ll dress you up. Let’s go.”

The club was loud, Overwhelming and perfect.

Because no one knew me here, no one was watching and no one was expecting anything from me.

Even better— It was a costume night so everyone was wearing a disguise.

“This is perfect,” Susan said, clearly pleased.

She had already handed me a dress before we left.

It was Tight and bold. Nothing like what I usually wore.

I hesitated when I saw it.

“This is too much,” I had argued but Susan had rolled her eyes. “It’s not too much. It’s exactly what you need.”

“I don’t wear things like this,” I muttered.

“Exactly,” she shot back. “Which is why you should wear it tonight.”

I looked at my reflection again, unsure.

“You look amazing,” she added, softer this time.

I didn’t fully believe her but for once… I didn’t argue.

Because I didn’t want to be the usual Kiera. Not tonight, in fact, not anymore.

Now, standing at the entrance of the club, I took a slow breath as the music hit me.

It felt like stepping into another world. A world where I wasn’t weak. Where I wasn’t trapped, where I wasn’t Kiera, the betrayed mate.

I took a step forward, adjusting slightly in the ridiculously high heels Susan had forced me into.

And then-- I bumped right into someone.

My breath caught instantly as I stumbled slightly, my hand instinctively reaching out to steady myself.

But the person didn’t move, not at all. It was like hitting a solid, unmoving wall.

“I’m so—” I started, looking up.

And froze because the man standing in front of me was… different.

Even with half his face covered by a mask, there was no missing it.

It wasn’t just that he was attractive, It wasn’t just that he looked powerful.

There was something else. There was Something wrong with him.

The air around him felt heavier and thicker like it was pressing down on me.

My chest suddenly tightened and my instincts began screaming at me out of no where. And they were not in curiosity or attraction… but in Warning.

And to my shock, my whole body suddenly began to shiver for a reason I couldn’t understand.

And for the first time in my life… I understood what fear was.

Real fear.

The man’s eyes suddenly locked on mine in a Predatory way,  Like he had already seen through me.

Like he had already decided I was prey— And he had already chosen to hunt me.

My entire body went still but one thought echoed in my mind.

Run! KIERA RUN!

“I’m sorry,” I said quickly, trying to step back.

But before I could move—

His hand shot out and wrapped around my wrist.

My breath hitched as alarm bells exploded in my head.

And every instinct I had screamed at me— that Something was very, very wrong.

Kiera"Let go of me, Damian!" I hissed, pulling my arm with all my strength. Damian’s fingers stayed locked around my wrist like a band of cold iron. The torchlight flickered against the dark stone walls of the hallway, casting long, spooky shadows around us. He didn't look angry; instead, his violet eyes searched my face with a deep, desperate intensity that made my skin tingle."Why?" Damian demanded, his voice dropping to a low, frustrated whisper. "Why do you trust Alistair so much, Kiera? Tell me. Why tie your fate to a monster?""I don't have to explain anything to you," I snapped back, glaring up at him with all the fire I could muster. "Let me go before I scream for the guards!""And what will the guards do?" Damian let out a harsh, bitter laugh, shaking his head. "Run to tell their precious King to come save you as usual? Wake up, Kiera. What has Alistair actually done for you? He treats you like a prisoner in a golden cage. He uses you for his political games.""He protects

KieraTen minutes later, I left Alistair's study and hurried down the winding stone corridors toward Sarah's quarters. My mind was spinning out of control. I needed answers. I needed someone who understood the deep, dark history of this palace and was still confidently on my side. When Sarah opened her door, she took one look at my pale face and immediately pulled me inside, locking the door behind us."I heard what happened in court," Sarah said, pouring a cup of hot tea and handing it to me. "It's a mess, Kiera. The entire pack is gossiping about it.""Sarah, I don't know what to do," I said, my hands shaking as I held the warm ceramic cup. "The elders want Damian. They are turning against Alistair. And Damian... he's playing a very dangerous game. He told me Alistair is lying to me. He said Alistair's father framed his father but I don’t know if I believe that."Sarah sighed heavily, sitting down across from me. She looked deep into my eyes, her expression turning dead serious. "Ki

KieraThe courtroom was so loud I could barely hear my own breathing. The elders were nodding at Damian. They were treating him like a hero who had saved them from starvation, while Alistair sat on his throne, completely losing control. I watched the veins bulge on Alistair’s neck. His golden eyes were burning with a terrifying, helpless rage.If Alistair fell, I fell with him. All my plans to use his power to crush Raphael and take back my life would vanish into dust. Before I could stop myself, I took a step forward from the gallery railing."Wait!" I called out, my voice ringing loud and clear across the stone floor. "Please, just listen to your king—""Silence, omega!"Elder Malakor snapped his head toward me, his face twisting into a cruel, ugly sneer. The entire courtroom went dead quiet."You have no place speaking in the high court," Malakor barked, pointing a wrinkled finger right at me. "You forget yourself, Lady Kiera. You are standing here under a strict one-month deadline

KieraI got out of bed, washed the dried blood and dirt from my skin, and dressed in my finest court attire, a sleek, dark green gown that made me look far more confident and powerful than I actually felt. When I arrived at the grand royal courtroom, the atmosphere was electric with tension.King Alistair sat rigidly upon his massive obsidian and gold throne. His face was carved from dark granite, radiating a lethal, choking wave of alpha fury that made the air itself feel heavy. Below him, Damian stood in the center of the hall, his wrists locked in heavy iron handcuffs, flanked by four royal guards."Silence!" Beta Theo boomed, banging his staff against the stone floor as murmurs rippled through the gallery of nobles and elders.Alistair leaned forward, his golden eyes burning into Damian with unmitigated hatred. "You stand before the high court accused of high treason, conspiracy with dark magic factions, and orchestrating the destruction of our eastern watchtower," Alistair annou

Kiera The hallways of the palace were dark, quiet, and eerie. And as I hurried toward the residential wing, two familiar figures stepped out from the shadows of a pillar. Susan and Elara."Kiera!" Susan gasped, rushing over to me with wide, worried eyes. "Are you okay? We saw Alistair storm out with the guards, and we were so worried!""What happened in there?" Elara asked, stepping up beside Susan, her face tight with concern.I rubbed my temples, feeling a splitting headache coming on. "It was a disaster. Alistair thinks Damian orchestrated the attacks and the abductions. He's putting him on trial tomorrow.""And Damian?" Elara asked quietly."He claims he's being framed," I whispered, looking down at the stone floor. "He told me... he told me Alistair is lying to me."Susan frowned deeply, crossing her arms. "Don't listen to him, Kiera. Damian might just be a snake. Everyone here has said his family has been trying to usurp the throne for generations.""I know," I sighed, though m

My heart hammered wildly against my ribs. Was he talking about me?Before I could even process the terrifying weight of his words, Alistair saw the look passing between us and a guttural, animalistic roar tore from Alistair's chest. His golden eyes flashed with blinding, homicidal rage, and he lunged forward, his massive fists curling as he prepared to beat Damian to a bloody pulp right there on the stone floor."No! Alistair, stop!" I screamed, lunging forward and grabbing his arm with all my might.Alistair froze, his muscles locked tight as iron. He looked down at me, his chest heaving heavily, his face twisted in pure fury."Step aside, Kiera," Alistair snarled, his voice vibrating with lethal power. "I am going to tear him apart.""You can't!" I urged, my voice shaking as I gripped his arm tighter.
