Chapter 1

Kiera’s pov

I stopped breathing the second I saw my husband fucking my sister on my office desk.

I wasn’t even sure my heart was still beating after that.

Because what I was looking at and hearing didn’t make sense. It couldn’t make sense! I refused to believe it!

My fingers tightened around the folder in my hands as I stood frozen just outside my office door—the door I had planned to walk through with a smile, ready to surprise my mate.

My mate, who was currently pounding into my sister like there was no tomorrow.

A hollow, bitter laugh echoed silently in my chest but Inside, the room was filled with soft, breathless sounds of them fucking.

“Ungh harder—Rafael—” Alice gasped, her voice high and breathy as she pulled my husband deeper into her.

My husband Rafael’s back was to me and his body was moving against hers like it was something he had done a hundred times before. Alice’s hands gripped his shoulders, her head thrown back, her face flushed with pleasure as they continued fucking in my office.

And on my desk of all places! The same desk I had spent hours sitting behind, working for him. Working for us.

My lips parted, but no sound came out. It was like my voice had been stolen, trapped somewhere deep inside my chest along with the scream building there.

“Aah—Rafael baby…” Alice moaned with a kind of satisfaction I had never felt from my husband.

“Oh fuck Alice!” My husband groaned and I flinched as I watched him empty himself in her.

Then she laughed softly and said, “Tell me something baby.”

Rafael let out a low chuckle. “What?”

“Am I better than her? Am I better than that pig you call a wife?” She moaned and I forced myself to swallow the gasp of pain in my throat.

There was a pause. A pause that stretched so long I almost convinced myself he wouldn’t answer. That he would shut her down. That he would at least have the decency to defend me—

“Yes, baby.” He groaned

His words hit me like a slap and I swayed slightly, my grip tightening on the papers.

“Of course you are,” he continued. “She can never hope to even compare to you.”

Alice giggled, clearly pleased. “Really?”

“Yes, with your sister Kiera…” He scoffed, “I have to force myself to even look at her most times. No sane red-blooded man would want someone like her when you are around.”

My stomach dropped in shock. He had to force himself with me?

My mind flashed back to every time I tried to be intimate with him and how he had always turned away with an excuse like “I’m tired. And all that time, I had always wondered what I was doing wrong.

And now I knew.

He didn’t want me because he was already sleeping with my own sister.

“Your sister is not only fat, but she’s also dull, and she’s…” He exhaled like even talking about me was exhausting. “Honestly, I don’t know how I lasted this long with her.”

Alice laughed again. “You’re horrible.”

“And yet I stayed, didn’t I?” he replied lightly.

Tears blurred my vision, but they didn’t fall. They just burned as I stared at the man I thought was mine.

The man I had loved. The man I had given everything to.

Alice shifted to look at him as her voice turned impatient. “So when were you finally going to reject her?”

My heart stuttered to a stop at that.

What?! Reject me?

Rafael sighed “Soon.”

“You’ve been saying that for months.”

“I know,” he said, his tone soothing. “Just… be patient my love.”

“I have been patient,” she snapped. “But I’m tired of hiding. I should have been the one by your side. I should have been Luna, not her.”

“You would be,” he assured her quickly. “You were the one I wanted, Alice. You knew that.”

“Then prove it.”

There was a pause, then the sound of movement, softer now, slower.

“I am already proving it right now, aren’t I?” he murmured before kissing her.

“No,” she insisted. “Reject her. Marry me.”

My chest tightened painfully as I waited for his answer. But instead of agreeing, he chuckled softly. “You were getting ahead of yourself.”

Alice huffed. “What was that supposed to mean?”

“It means Kiera still has a role to play before we get rid of her.”

What?!

Alice frowned, “What else do we need her for?”

My fingers trembled around the folder.

Rafael’s voice lowered, but I heard every word clearly.

“We need her for tonight and tomorrow. Tonight is important because she is supposed to finalise everything we need for me to make you my wife.”

A chill ran down my spine.

“What do you mean?” Alice asked.

“I sent her to get the pack’s documents for us,” he replied. “She has gone to get your father’s signature, the council’s approval and the transfer of power to me.”

My heart stopped at his words.

“She is about to hand everything over to me,” he continued calmly. “All her territory. All her authority, everything will belong to me very soon.”

Alice let out a soft gasp of joy. “Seriously?”

“Yes.”

“She agreed to give you everything just like that? She didn’t suspect anything?”

He laughed loudly.

“Of course, Kiera is too dumb and loves me too much to suspect anything,” he said. “She actually believed I was doing this for us.”

My vision went completely blurry because it was true. I had believed that. I had believed every word he had ever told me.

“She really is so fucking pathetic,” Alice said with a smirk in her voice. “The only reason she ever mattered was that she is the Alpha’s daughter. It’s too bad my mother only met the Alpha after she already had me.”

Rafael hummed in agreement. “Exactly.”

There was no hesitation and no defence for me, just agreement.

“My stepsister is weak and useless,” Alice continued. “And once she is gone, no one would even remember her.”

“You’re right,” he said simply.

Something inside me shattered completely.

“But you’ll always remember me,” Alice added as she kissed him again.

Rafael’s voice softened. “You are the only one who deserves to stand beside me. You are the one I want as my Luna.”

My nails dug into my palm.

“I only stayed with Kiera because she was useful,” he added.

Alice laughed happily. “Good. Because I won't continue sharing you with that bitch.”

“You won’t have to after tomorrow.”

There was a brief pause before she added, “Then stay with me tonight. Kiera isn’t here anyway.”

My stomach churned but I gripped the documents harder

Please say yes, I whispered in my mind. Please give me one more reason to hate you.

But Rafael sighed. “I can’t baby, sorry.”

Alice groaned. “Why not?”

“I have an important deal to prepare for tomorrow.”

“What deal?”

“A powerful alliance that will make our plan permanent,” he said. “The Lycan King Alistair of the North is arriving tomorrow and I and Kiera have to welcome him.”

Alice went quiet for a second. “That murderer? I thought you hated him.”

“I do, everyone does. He is dangerous, unpredictable and selfish,” Rafael replied bluntly. “But I need him.”

“Why?”

“Because once I have access to his resources, and once Kiera’s territory is officially mine, no one would ever be able to challenge me.”

My breath caught in my throat because that was true. Once King Alistair formed an alliance with him as the alpha of my pack, I would never be able to fight him.

“No one?” Alice asked.

“No one,” he repeated. “Not even Kiera.”

The world tilted, because in that moment, it hit me.

I was already doomed!

The papers in my hands were the handover documents for my pack and they were already signed.

I had already given him everything!

I swallowed hard as panic rose in my chest.

If he found out I had them, if he saw that I already signed them— I would be finished!

He would win and I would lose every single thing my father had ever worked for!

In that moment, every single instinct in my body screamed at me to run into that room, yank Alice’s hair and scream at them for betraying me.

But I couldn’t. I couldn’t.

Because the moment he sees these documents, it would be over for me.

I forced myself to step back despite the way my entire body was shaking.

My heart pounded so loudly I was sure they could hear it, but thankfully they didn’t, because they were too consumed with each other.

Good.

That gave me time to leave and find a way to fix this.

I clutched the papers tighter as I quietly turned away from the door… then I ran.

I didn’t stop running until I was outside. My chest heaved as I fumbled with my car keys and my hands shook so badly I almost dropped them.

“Come on… come on…” I whispered desperately.

The car finally unlocked, I got in, slammed the door shut, and sped the car out of the compound with my heart racing, my mind spinning wildly.

I didn’t know where I was going. I didn’t know what I was going to do.

But one thing was clear.

I couldn’t let Rafael get these papers! I couldn’t let him win!

Kiera"How do I find out why Lenora's family is targeting me? And how do I know if Alistair is really a monster?" I asked with desperation clawing up my throat.Sarah sighed, walking over to place a comforting hand on my shoulder. "I don't have all the answers, Kiera. To find out what Lenora's family wants with you, we would somehow need to reach them, or find surviving records of Lenora's inner circle outside of Alistair's censored archives. As for Alistair... listen to me very carefully." She looked deep into my eyes. "In this palace, you can trust no one. Not the King, not Damian, not even the council. You can only trust yourself. You hear me?"I nodded slowly, swallowing the lump in my throat."If you want to keep practicing your magic," Sarah continued, lowering her voice to a whisper, "you cannot do it here. You must sneak out to the old training woods beyond the eastern perimeter wall at night. It's wild, untamed land, and the palace wards don't reach out that far. You can trai

KieraThe night after the whole magical blast, the morning light cut through my chamber window like a cold knife, but I barely felt it. My body was still trembling, the memory of the crackling silver-blue energy dancing across my fingertips burning behind my closed eyelids.I sat at the edge of my bed, staring blankly at the scorched, splintered remains of the bedside table where my accidental blast had torn wood apart just hours earlier. The royal guards had left, but the heavy, suffocating weight of what I had done hung thick in the air.A sharp knock at the door made me jump."Kiera? Open up, it's us," Susan’s voice whispered urgently through the wood.I hurried across the room and unlocked the door, pulling Susan and Elara inside before quickly slamming and bolting it shut behind them."Goodness, Kiera, what is wrong with you? You look like you've seen a ghost," Elara gasped, her wide eyes darting to the broken table and the water-soaked floor. "What happened in here last night?

Kiera"Open the door! Royal guard! State your emergency!" a gruff voice roared from the hallway.Oh fuck! The guards heard what I did.Panic clawed at my chest. If the guards came in and saw the splintered table and smelled the unmistakable scent of forbidden magic, they would realize that I was practicing forbidden magic which would prove a connection the last attackers who used magic and I would be dragged to the dungeons before sunrise. And I could not afford to let that happen.I quickly leaped to my feet, waving my hands frantically to fan away the smoke. I stomped out the glowing ember on the broken wood with my boot. The pounding on the door grew harder. "Lady Kiera! Open this door immediately or we will break it down!""I'm coming!" I shouted back, my voice cracking.I grabbed a heavy ceramic water pitcher from my washstand, lifted it high, and purposely smashed it onto the stone floor, letting water spill everywhere. Then I threw the deadbolt and yanked the heavy door open.T

KieraAfter Damian’s confession, my boots crunched softly against the frozen dirt of the eastern courtyard as I hurried back toward the palace. Every shadow looked like a trap. Every gust of wind sounded like a whisper calling my name.My mind was a chaotic, spinning storm of absolute madness.I was in Denial, because It had to be a lie. Damian was just playing a cruel game to turn me against Alistair. Alistair was kind to me. He protected me from Raphael, he respected my boundaries, and his touch made me feel safe.I felt Distrust, because what if Damian was telling the truth? What if the gentleness was just a mask? What if Alistair really did murder Lady Lenora, use forbidden blood magic, and hunt down women who tried to escape him?Doubt and Fear. The images of the missing women, the fact that someone in the palace had been spying on me for years before this, and Lenora's tragic fate played on a loop in my head. Kiera "Bingo," Damian said bitterly. "The original attackers who were asking about you weren't sent by random enemies. They were Lady Lenora's surviving relatives. They fled this kingdom years ago after her death, and they came back for one reason only: because they are convinced that Alistair murdered her and for some reason… they think its somehow connected to you.""They think he murdered her? His own mate?" I shook my head violently, backing away a step. "That's insane! Alistair wouldn't… he's the King and she is his beloved mate—""Is he?" Damian interrupted, stepping closer, his violet eyes burning with intense, painful emotion. "Do you even know who Lenora really was, Kiera? She wasn't just a normal werewolf from some stray pack.""What do you mean?""Lenora was a seer," Damian said, his voice dropping to a harsh whisper. "She came from an ancient, rare bloodline of seers gifted with powerful, unearthly visions of the future in her dreams. She could see what was coming before

Kiera That evening, I hurried straight to Alistair’s private study because I couldn't hold it in anymore. The terror and confusion were choking me.When I pushed the heavy door open, Alistair looked up from a stack of battle maps. He took one look at my pale face, stood up instantly, and crossed the room in two long strides."Kiera? What happened? Who hurt you?" he demanded, his hands gripping my shoulders. His golden eyes flared with instant, protective rage."It's Malakor," I sobbed quietly, the tears finally spilling over. I let myself lean into his chest, burying my face against his warm wool tunic. "He... he cornered me in the hallway. He told me he wants all omegas and weaklings wiped out. He said he's going to make an example out of me. He said I'm just a temporary replacement for Lady Lenora, and if I don't die or leave soon, he'll finish me himself. Alistair, what do we do?"Alistair’s body went completely rigid and a ferocious, deep alpha growl ripped from his throat, shaki
