MAERWYNN POV

I tried again—another flicker of light between my fingers. A dull spark sizzled to life, like a dying lantern struggling to glow. It wasn’t much, but I hurled it toward the first Algoth we came across. The creature shrieked as the light hit, part of its wing singed and smoking. It swerved off course, crashing into the trees.

Valen glanced down at me mid-flight, the corners of his mouth lifting in a grin. “Not bad.”

I managed a small laugh—brief, shaky—but the moment didn’t last.

Something slammed into us from the side.

A blur. Claws. Wings.

Valen grunted, and suddenly I was falling.

The world spun as I tumbled through thorn bushes and slammed hard against the ground. Pain shot up my ribs. My side felt like it had been torn open. Blood trickled down my cheek from a scratch. I gasped, rolling to my knees and fumbling for my bow—instinct kicking in.

I looked up just in time to see Valen wrestling with one of the Algoths mid-air.

The banshees were gone. Disappeared like ghost

  • Court Of Sins And Twilight   Chapter 22- You've faced hell

PLAYLIST FOR THE CHAPTER= Grow again by AbileneMAERWYNN POVI have never felt such an eerie calm in my life.We stood shoulder to shoulder near the shimmering veil of the barrier, waiting to cross into Kyante’s world. From this side, there was nothing—just a blank stretch of space, like someone had painted the air with fog and silence. A void. But then Valen stepped forward. He pressed a hand to the surface, and the barrier responded—shimmering gold and orange, the glow fanning out like a ripple before fading into stillness once again.“We’re here,” he said, his voice tight, a frown pulling at his brows. He let his hand drop and stepped back. “We don’t know what lies on the other side. What awaits us.”My pulse hammered so loud I was sure someone could hear it. I kept whispering to myself—You’ve got this. You’ve faced hell. This is no different. But this didn’t feel like the hell I’d survived before. This felt worse. Like it was layered with the unknown, with ancient danger waiting t

MAERWYNN POV“We can’t turn back,” I breathed, my voice trembling but steadying by the second. I turned to Valen, searching his face. “Please, no. We can’t.”His jaw was clenched, shadows coiling faintly around his fingers again, like his body was already anticipating danger. He didn’t speak right away as he retracted his shadows.“We go now,” I said, louder. “Because if we don’t—if we wait—Edina will be gone. Whatever Kyante is doing to her… it’ll be done.”“I’m going either way,” I added, my voice sharper now, eyes locked on Valen’s. “With or without anyone else. I’m going.”“I’m with her,” Rhaenan said, stepping forward. His voice was low but full of fire. “She’s my mate. And I’ll die trying to get her back.”If what the Wraith said was true then so be it, but we'd be lying if we said none of came on this journey with the thought of never returning so why turn back now. "If not now… never,” I said outloud. “That’s what this is. This is the moment. There’s no time left.”Lira let o

  • Court Of Sins And Twilight   Chapter 20- The Wraith

MAERWYNN POVOne large bonfire blazed at the center of our makeshift camp, its light flickering across our faces as we huddled close beneath the open sky. The stars above were endless—millions of tiny, burning suns watching silently, like they knew what was coming.Valen had wrapped his arms around me, strong and warm, holding me to his chest tightly. I’d fallen asleep in under five minutes. But I was ripped out of that sleep by the sudden tension in his body. One moment I was dreaming, the next—his head snapped up sharply.I blinked groggily, then realized we weren’t the only ones awake. All around the fire, the others were stirring. Rhaenan sat up first, silent, his gaze narrowed toward the trees. Caelora was already reaching for her dagger.“What’s wrong?” I whispered.Valen didn’t look at me. His expression was locked, tense. “We’re not alone. I hear footsteps. But… no thoughts.”My blood went cold. “Algoths?” I asked, fingers inching toward the bow resting just above my head.He

MAERWYNN POV"Red, wake up."My eyes snapped open, heart jerking in my chest. I was still on horseback—or rather, floating above the trees on one of their winged steeds. The wind rushed past my ears, cool and sharp, and the reins had nearly slipped from my fingers.Valen wasn’t beside me. He was soaring higher above, cutting through the sky with strong beats of his wings, likely scanning the terrain for danger or a place to land.I realized, with a rush of cold dread, that I had started to doze off. In the air. On a horse. But his voice in my head had caught me just in time.He flew lower to my level, eyes sharp but gentle. “We’re going to rest soon,” he said aloud over the wind. “I’m scouting for a secure spot.”I nodded, sitting up straighter, fingers tightening on the reins. With a rush of wings, he flew ahead once more, disappearing into the star-blotted horizon.“We’re close to the barrier,” Thalen called out as he descended in a lazy spiral, his voice carrying through the air li

  • Court Of Sins And Twilight   Chapter 18- Out of a storybook

MAERWYNN POVI didn’t even realize we had escorts until we were done buying the jars. A sudden flurry of armored wings passed over the shop, and a band of castle pixies swooped in, carefully collecting our purchases. They floated the glass jars into a charm-woven wagon outside, chattering among themselves and stringing protective runes around each container as they worked."Can we see more of the town before we twinkle back?" I asked, my voice catching in awe as I glanced upward.Overhead, a swirl of pixies danced in perfect circles, glowing like sparks from a flame. Firelights drifted lazily among them, trailing soft ribbons of golden light through the night sky. It was like watching stardust learn how to sing.“Of course,” Caelora replied, though her tone had the clipped caution of a responsible older sister. “But Valen and the others should be back by now. He’ll worry when he notices you’re gone.”“I think he can handle five minutes of not knowing my exact location,” I grinned.Mea

PLAYLIST FOR THE CHAPTER= Aquilla by Mike MacLennanMAERWYNN POVMist clung to every surface—stone, wood, railing, even the leaves—soft and cold like breath held in the air. It was the surest sign winter was near. Back in the village of Ferngrove, we used to stick a glass deep into the ground to measure the season. The higher the mist crept inside it, the closer the snow would come. It was an old trick. But it worked.“Have you ever been to the main town?” Caelora’s voice broke through my thoughts.I let my fingers slip from the frost-slicked edge of the balcony. “No,” I said, blinking back into the moment.“We’re heading out to get some jars,” she said with a smile. “Want to come?”Before I could answer, Lira and Calia descended the marble steps from the upper chambers, deep in conversation. Both of them wore soft velvet dresses—the kind that shifted in the light. Lira’s was pale blue with silver-threaded stars, Calia’s a deeper shade of green, her usual gold jewelries twinkling gentl
