LOGINThe wild thoughts that consumed her whenever she was close to Julian were insane, and she was beginning to hate herself for that. She had tried to attribute it to the fact that she had been sex starved for months, and her fingers weren't doing much for her, but harboring nasty thoughts about her best friend's father when her whole life was in shambles made no sense.
She was still scorching from the heat of their proximity in the kitchen a few minutes ago. He should never come that close to her again. She would do anything to make sure she stayed far away from him, but now, she needed something to quell the fire that was burning within her.
It was too early in the morning to be so horny because a hot older man stood close to her. She pressed her legs together, but it did nothing for her. Whining, her eyes fell on her fingers, and she brought them closer. Her eyes were fixated on them, contemplating what to do with them, when her phone started to ring.
She reached for it—a call from Maribel. A large wave of guilt slammed her as she picked up, pressing the phone to her ear.
"Hey, Bel. What's up?" A small smile popped on her face, but it quickly slipped.
There was no reason to be smiling when she was just on the verge of giving in to the unsettling fantasy that crammed her thoughts about her best friend's father.
"Just got out of bed, had a hard one with Rowan last night. We went from corner to corner, and now, I feel like my legs are too weak to move." Maribel chuckled, and Tessa just shook her head. Her friend would never cease to tell her about her sexual adventures with her fiancé. "How are you and how is dad? Have you seen him this morning? Gosh, he must be out for his daily run, but don't worry, you will see him when he gets back."
Now she understood why he needed that much water when he came to the kitchen earlier.
"I am good. How's Rowan, and you?" Her voice was low. She had intentionally skipped the question about her dad.
"Rowan is out for a business meeting. Do you like it over there?" Though Maribel wasn't close, Tessa could sense the concern in her tone. "I should visit one of these days. Until then, be good."
"Thank you." Tessa smiled, doubting whether she would be good before Maribel showed up again. Things were getting complicated and were almost beyond her control. Before she ended the call, she queried Maribel about the misinformation, but not without blaming herself for not remembering it was the weekend.
Maribel laughed, but Tessa didn't find any of her encounter with her father in the kitchen funny. "I'm sorry, Tess. Rowan was messing with my head. I just wanted to be with him."
A few more conversations were had before they said their goodbyes. Tessa just dropped her phone when it beeped again. She snatched it from the nightstand, hurrying to check what the notification was all about. An email from one of the companies she had applied to. They were finally calling her for an interview.
Beaming, she hurried into the bathroom to take a long shower and start preparing for the interview scheduled for Monday. Finally, she found a distraction, but she still feared it might be ephemeral.

"Your passport didn't do justice to your beauty, Ms. Tessa Jones." It was supposed to be a professional interview, but Tessa was stuck in a tech company's enclosed office with the supposed CEO.
His eyes were ogling her licentiously, and she loathed it. When he smiled again, revealing his chipped, white teeth, she knew this wasn't just about an interview. There was definitely something more to this.
"Sorry?"
"I will offer you the job." He said, adjusting his grey blazer with a pen playing in his hand. "It's the least of what I can do for you. I own this company."
She nodded. That was a fact she got accustomed to the instant she stepped into Mr. Jordan's office that morning. He had been singing unending praises of himself. How he started a tech company at age twenty-five, and it has been successfully running for ten years now.
"Thank you, sir." She didn't know where this would lead, but it didn't look like it was going to be nice.
"How about we fix a better venue for the interview, Miss Jones?" Mr. Jordan rested on his armchair, his eyes not leaving Tessa as she scrunched up her face in confusion. "You don't know what I mean?"
"I don't think I do, sir."
She clamped her legs together when he didn't stop licking his lips as his gaze traced the line of her exposed thighs. She wished she had opted for a better option than this slit skirt. She wished the table between them were tall enough to hide her thighs. Screw her wishes. He should be a reasonable man by not acting sexually towards her.
"I have a private room in a cozy hotel. That will be a better venue, what do you think?"
"I don't remember applying to a hotel for a job." She didn't plan to explore her sarcasm here, but it sure felt like it was needed. "I want to work in a tech company."
"And I want to fuck you, Miss. Jones." He spilled as though he had been holding it for so long he was getting frustrated. Tessa's jaw dropped in disgust. "Yes. I want to have your fat ass on the table in my hotel room. Is that too much to lay down for a job that will change your life?"
She waited for him to take back his words. One. Two. Three. After four, she rose to her feet, repressing the urge to hit him hard in his face.
"You are a shameless man, Mr. Jordan." She pointed accusingly.
"Accepted." He shrugged nonchalantly. "If that's what you will call me for pointing out my desires."
"And you can go ahead and die with your selfish interests." She raised her fingers at him. "Fuck you, and fuck your company."
"Yes, I'd like you to fuck me. Bounce on me with that fat ass." He giggled, calling after her as she made her way out of his office.
That was a miss, Tessa thought as she walked out of the company. She needed to apply to more companies.
"Here, have some water." Julian handed Tessa a glass as she sat beside her on the two-seater couch in his living room. She downed it in one go, lowering the glass to the table. "How far did they go?" The cops had requested an audience with her before they left the hood, and she had told them the details of everything that happened, but Julian felt she might be hiding something she didn't want to tell other people but him."Everything I told the cops." She was feeling a lot better now.He nodded. "Tarlim slum is not a safe environment for women. There have been countless crime cases reported in the area." He looked at her. "The Velmark government has overlooked this area for far too long, but I've reached out to Benson, a friend of mine who's an aspiring presidential candidate."Tessa's eyes quirked in question. "You told him about what happened to me?" She asked."No," Julian responded. "I told him about an incident that occurred there today, and he has promised to send his men to sec
Tessa stilled. The man in front of her was grinning hard, his eyes ogling her.Tilting her chin up, she faked bravery. "I lost my way." She tried to sound confident, but the apprehension was glaring. She proceeded to take a step."Hey." A deep voice resounded, but she didn't look back. She attempted to walk away from them, and they let her. She caught giggling sounds following her as she quickened her steps towards a path she was uncertain of."Stop." A command came. The firm authority in the voice gave no room for her to exhibit her defiance. Lost in the midst of four men, she knew she had to obey. She lowered her head, wondering what they would do to her if no one came to save her. She hoisted her up to catch a glimpse of their faces. They were tall, huge, and looked mean. The black outfit they donned mirrored their dark aura."I lost my way while coming out of Kensington Realty." She told them, but they chuckled, heightening her fear."Do we look like G****e Maps?" One of them reto
After that night, Julian had avoided Tessa like a plague. He left the house before she woke up, came back late at night when she must have been asleep, and never ate in the dining room with her. He was deliberately barricading himself from any form of contact that could bring them close. The guilt of giving in to desire that night weighed heavily on him, haunting him everywhere he turned. Each time he thought of it, shame crept in, tightening in his chest. He knew his daughter would be greatly disappointed if she ever discovered the truth about the forbidden attraction between him and Tessa. It was wrong. It shouldn't be heard of, and before Maribel suspected anything, he was determined to put an end to it.At work, he swamped himself with loads of work to keep him from thinking about Tessa, but it didn't help much. It'd been three days since that dinner, and she still messed up his head. His mind drifted away from work, settling on her. There were moments he imagined what he would h
The last few minutes of the dinner were thick with an insane, heated tension. Tessa struggled to calm her raging nerves as they drove back home. All that filled her head was the imagination of things they would explore the moment they were alone behind closed doors.Julian shut the door right after she slipped into the living room. Now that they were alone, she waited for him to make the first move, but she wasn't patient enough to let him waste time. If he didn't come to her, she would cross the line. She had seen how he stole glances at her. It was clear in the way his eyes lingered on her."Thanks for tonight, Mr. Anderson. You made me feel like a real woman for the first time in my life."Julian's eyebrows flickered in worry. "What do you mean?" He asked, not looking at her. He didn't trust himself to remain composed if he stared into those needy eyes again that night."I have never been on a real date with a man. This is my first, and it's amazing." She took a step closer, but th
The next day, Tessa was scrolling through her phone, deleting memories she had created with Dylan, when a text popped up on her screen. She was ready to swipe it off the screen, but something caught her attention. After walking out on her last night, she didn't expect him to be texting her today. But she clicked on it and was shocked to see a dinner invitation. A dress and a private chauffeur were included.A smile touched her lips. What was he up to? The doorbell rang, and she knew it was the private chauffeur Julian had hired for the date. She opened the door to a tall man with blue eyes. "Good day, ma'am." Her eyes fell on the parcel in his hand. "From Mr. Anderson." He handed it to Tessa and said. "I'll be driving you tonight.""Tessa's cheeks turned red as she took the parcel from him. "Thank you." She muttered, shutting the door. Her pulse quickened as she rushed down to her room. This was new to her. All her life, she had had two boyfriends, but none of them had deemed it fit t
The interview session went well this time. There were high hopes that she would get the job and would be able to afford a small apartment very soon. Life was finally going to get good for Tessa.Everything happening around her felt overwhelming as she filled her plate with food. If this job clicked, her days here would be numbered. That meant she wouldn't have to see Julian every day anymore. It was supposed to be a good thing for her, but her heart sank at the thought. When she had taken enough food, she meandered towards the living room. Julian had been away for two days now, giving her a call when he arrived at his destination, but he didn't give a confirmed date on when he was returning home.Relishing the comforting freedom of being home alone, she set her plate on the coffee table and tuned in to the same show Julian was always engrossed in whenever he was at home. Some minutes into the show, the sound of her soft laughter filled the room. She was completely sold. Her phone beep
