LOGINFIONA
I was wobbling in pain when I got home. My mother opened the door for me and she saw my state but could not be bothered, she only told me to quickly bathe and eat so that I could resume my work at 9am.
“Mother, I am not going back there again.” I leaned on the wobbly dining table, trying to catch my breath.
“Why?’ She snapped, her eyes burning with fire. “Look at the state of your father!” she pointed to his pale body laying discarded on our patched-up sofa. “His condition worsened through out the night. We will lose him if you continue to be lazy Fiona.”
I retrieved the stacks of hundreds and thousands of dollars from my bag and laid it on the table. Her mouth opened in shock. “I don’t have to work for up to six months if we can properly manage this money better. Also, Lisa and Sam can resume school, while dad can be treated better.
Her fingers massaged the crisp dollar bills. “Where did you get this amount of money from?”
My mind flashed to the passionate sex from last night and then the near-death rejection. I turned away from her. “It’s not important.”
“Did you steal it?” She raised her voice.
“Do you want me to return it?” I yelled ack, my exhaustion giving way to anger.
She fell quiet, her shoulders slacking.
“Just as I thought. So please, take the money and let me be please.”
I held myself together as I walked up the stairs. I didn’t want her to see that I was in pieces. It would lead to more questions and I would have to talk about the rejection. In my pack, rejected wolves were treated worse than dormant wolves.
As I stared at my reflection in the bathroom mirror, I knew that I was in even greater trouble. I was pregnant. My wolf told me. Wolf pregnancies only lasted for two months and in two weeks, my stomach would be the size of a medium sized pot. If he rejected me, he would also reject this baby. An unmated pregnant wolf was even worse than a rejected wolf and dormant wolf put together.
I sat on the toilet seat, perplexed. What was I going to do? I knew that the Alpha had no heirs yet. If he knew that I was carrying a potential heir, would he be more open-minded to accepting me as his? My chances of having a chosen mate would reduce drastically if I gave birth to an unmarked child.
I had to let him know somehow. Travel all the way to the inner city and maybe face a second humiliation. It was better than the mockery I would face here all my life.
SERGIUS
As I slipped into the car, I could still feel the shock from the severed mate-bond. What I did was for the best or that’s what I like to think. My knuckles which had long healed were bleeding again. My phone rang beside me and it was my Beta. When I picked he told me that there was another emergency meeting and I needed to be there as soon as possible. I looked at my watch. Five thirty-eight am. Just wow.
“We’ve found a solution.” Elder Morteus said as soon as I stepped into the throne room. The elders were all standing and they sat when I did. I edged closer towards them. “Tell me more.”
“You would have to give birth to a child within the year of the blood moon.”
“And that will stop my madness how?” My eyebrows quipped.
“A child ensures the continuity of your lineage. It means that there would be no end to your bloodline.”
I sat back up in my chair, a trifle disappointed. Fair point. It didn’t stop my death, but it was a solution anyways. I have been to focused on leading my kingdom than raising a family. I was ready to try.
“And since the moon goddess has not mated you yet, we have come up with a solution.” Elder Ciana spoke up.
“You had a mate,” my wolf chided me. I shut him down.
“Yeah? What is the solution?”
“Here,” One said, stretching his hand out and a lady I did not notice who was seating daintily at the corner of the room, walked gracefully towards us. I locked puzzled gazes with my beta standing at my side. What was this?
The lady was very beautiful. She was dressed in a regal blue dress and her strawberry blonde hair was perfectly styled into a ponytail.
“This is Yvonne Chenille, crowned princess of the prestigious Chenille pack.” Morteus cleared his throat. “We have brought her here because we believe that she would be the perfect Luna for you, Alpha.’
This had to be a sick joke. I surveyed their unsmiling faces. “Who do you think you all are, trying to make decisions for me and forcing your choice down my throat. Where is my Liberty to choose? What you should have done was to assemble the ten best and let me pick.”
“But, Alpha, we the elders have chosen her as our Luna. In fact, we suggest that you both get engaged tonight.”
I stood up quickly. “Because I am sick, does not eradicate my right to choose. I am very capable of making a healthy decision.”
“Alpha, it is not the way you see it.” Ne tried to appease. “We stayed up all night, sorting and eliminating, and we have come to this conclusion. She is perfect, and she ticks all the boxes.”
“We don’t have time Alpha.” Morteus continued. “We need you to be wedded immediately so that we can determine her fertility.”
I gave her my outstretched hands, she took it and I pulled her closer. I surveyed her silent beautiful form. This was a lot better than some faded girl in shabby clothes.
“But what if it doesn’t work?” I asked them.
“Then we would set up a breeding station for you.”
I nodded once and kissed the back of her hand. “The wedding preparations will start in earnest, but it will not take place until the full moon, I’d like to know her better.”
“Your Majesty...” Morteus tried to interrupt. But the rest chorused as “As you wish, your majesty.” And shut him up.
SERGIUSYou can't actually believe Cyprus's words. What do you guys expect? He is my brother, and we have always been in competition about who will be the Supreme Lycan. Knowing that you guys are planning to make me the Supreme Lycan, he would actually do everything possible, everything in his power, to make sure that I don't become the Supreme Lycan. Over him, he would do everything. It will even go as far as lying that I am not healthy. Nothing is wrong with me. I am ill and healthy, and I am as strong as I have ever been. If I weren't healthy, would I be able to stand right in front of you as gallant as I am? I tried saying, convincing them that I was strong and there was nothing wrong with me. Then I noticed the elder who had spoken. “Sit down.” As they started looking at themselves as if sharing eye contact or saying something in their minds, then another Elder stood up, serious. “You aren't looking healthy at all. Yes, we know that you wanted to be the Supreme Lycan. But yo
SERGIUSWalking into the throne room, I looked around as I saw a lot of important figures sitting right here. I know Cyprus has actually gathered them here for a reason. Cyprus wouldn't just act rashly without having an ulterior motive. I wonder what he must be planning right now. And because of this sickness that had weighed me down, I could not even plan ahead of this. No, he has got me where I can't even come out of. What do I do now? If Cyprus actually gathered these people here to dethrone me, there is nothing I can do because they are very important. And they are not like the random elders, whom I can just control or just say something to make them change their decision. These people are not someone to be trifled with. I thought to myself as I stood there, feeling purple and frustrated. I looked in Cyprus' direction as he was looking at me right in the eye. He did not say anything, but he seemed calm, and he seemed kind of elated and joyful. There is something that Cyprus has
SERGIUSI opened my eyes to see my beta by my side, Yvonne fast asleep, and a few nurses and doctors going back and forth. “It happened again, didn't it?” I muttered as my beta immediately stood up, Yvonne yawning as she opened her eyes to see me. “Oh, you're awake. Thank the Lord. Everyone was worried about you. Do you even know how happy and at peace I am to know that you are awake?” she started her rubbish. “Come on, your room is all right already. You don't have to make everything so extreme. It doesn't have to be this way.” And with those words, I tried to adjust myself on the bed to sit properly as my better helped me. “You don't have to strain yourself too much. You've done more than enough. I don't know what to say anymore. But Cyprus... I don't know how we are going to do it, but I don't think we can outsmart Cyprus. I don't know everything I've done to convince him. He doesn't. Even watching you die, even watching you break down, he still doesn't want to agree. And he's
CYPRUS Ever since that moment, there is nothing in this world that Sergius would do that I would ever believe. I couldn't understand why they always saw me as the brother who needed no attention, whom nobody had to care about. They only cared about Sergius. Yes, I know I was the junior brother, and of course, he is the king because he deserves everything. But watching him smirk at me, and he's better still supporting him, clearly knowing what happened, very much aware that they came to step on my own toes. Saying things that I don't care about, talking about shitty things that make no sense. Everything just sent me into a shock. "I'm not going anywhere," I stated immediately. "I am not going to see that. And he should do whatever the fuck he wants to do. I don't want to. After you all chased me away because of a stupid incident, and now you're back. You guys want me back? No, I won't go back no matter what you do. Let Sergius be Dad's favorite. Only one. It won't change a thing in
CYPRUS“You have to bring down your pride, Sergius. Because this pride is what is going to end up killing you. If you do not bring down your pride within these next two moons, then you are going to die, Sergius. And I will gladly sit and watch you while you die.” I said to him as he just lay there looking at me, emotionless. He did not even try to plead or say anything that would make me change my decision. I didn’t actually mean what I said; I only meant to scare him. But he didn’t even seem scared at all. “If he acts like the asshole that he is, then I’ve made up my mind that this is what's going to stand, and this is exactly what I am going to do. If he does not bring down his pride for his own life, then I will not do anything to help him.” I thought to myself as Yvonne came to me. “What the hell do you think you are doing, Cyprus? This is not the time to make a bargain. He's dying. You can't just watch your brother die. I mean, he is your brother. He is your own flesh and blo
CYPRUSI could see a lot of machines being passed around by my brother. “What the hell is going on?” I kept shouting, but nobody would answer me. I was really frustrated as I ran my hands through my hair in frustration. “Could somebody just stop and tell me what the hell is going on? How is he doing? Is he dying?” I asked once again, but nobody said anything. They just kept on going back and forth. All of them were focused on Sergius, trying to revive him as they were immediately giving him CPR. I was really getting annoyed at this point as nobody was really listening to me. I kept on asking about his health condition, but nobody would say anything to me. I felt as if I was about to go crazy. Then all of a sudden, I heard the door open as Yvonne came rushing in with tears in her eyes. “What the hell is happening? How is he, doctor?” She looked at the doctor as he just nodded his head. I think she knew about his illness in time. Then I went to her. “What is going on? What is h
