Chapter 5 - Her Mate

Ava’s POV

I worked all day with Aunt Cynthia and my Momma decorating the community hall for Teresa’s 18^th birthday party and I hope that everything goes as we all hope it will.  My brother Gamma Gabe thinks Teresa is his fated mate when his wolf became uncharacteristically possessive.  She was too young at the time for him to lay a claim on, but tonight she gets her wolf and will be able to scent him if he is indeed hers.  I’m really hoping that she turns out to be his mate, he’s 31 years old now and he needs to find his mate or at least think about a chosen one.  I use to think that I wanted to find my fated, but I have Dimitri and he holds my heart, but he’s also younger than me, he’s 23 and I turned 29 a few months ago and I’m not sure just where the two of us actually stand.  I have to admit that as far as us as a couple goes, I couldn’t think of anyone else I would want to be with, he’s funny, smart, caring and so good with the little ones, his heart is so big and all the pups just adore him. 

I stand back and look at the decorations and smile, “Momma I think she will love this, it just screams princess.” 

Aunt Cynthia smiles at me, “you did great, her favorite colors are pink, and lavender and the gold accents really pop.”

We walk out and I sigh, “I hope they're mates.”

Aunt Cynthia smiles, “just think Leah, you’ll be Teresa’s other mother,” she cackles. 

I can’t help but look at my Momma and laugh at her expression, “she’ll make a great Gamma female,” I nudge her side with my elbow, “won’t she.”

My Momma was the Gamma female for Alpha Braddock and Luna Charlie, and she is tough as nails and taught Luna Charlie how to fight and defend herself, she is the ultimate fitness nut and still trains daily. Teresa hates training and even tries to get out of it at school, Dimitri tells me just how bad she is and always gives Gabe more shit than him when she doesn’t want to do the physical exercises.  Momma glares at me, “she’ll have her work cut out for her and so will your brother,” she chuckles shaking her head, “I can’t believe that we all know and that no one has said anything to her.”

My eyes went wide, “Our Alpha’s would have killed us, not to mention Uncle Brad and Aunt Charlie,” I visibly shivered, and they both laugh.

I helped Sofia and Brooklyn get ready for the party Sofia is younger than Brooklyn by 10 months but is taller and thicker and already showing curves and well Brooklyn isn’t.  Sweet little Brooklyn has her Daddy’s dark blue eyes and his hair, it’s so black and shiny and her curls fall just perfectly.   I stand back looking at the two of them as they gush over one another’s look.  I couldn't help but tell Brooklyn she looked like a doll.

I can’t get over how many people are here, the amount of unmated Alpha’s, Alpha heirs, Beta’s and Gamma’s is surprisingly high, I guess they all want their fated mates and will look high and low for them without thinking about trying to find love without the bond.  I smile as Dimitri makes his way to me and places a tender kiss on my lips, he’s so handsome, he makes every nerve in my body stand at attention when he is near. 

I watch as he walks over to the girls and then takes Sofia out on the dance floor, he loves pups, and I just know he is going to be a wonderful Daddy one day.  I can’t help the pang of hurt in my heart as I watch him twirl the little girl around and her giggle floats in the air.

The song ends and I watch as he extends his hand to Brooklyn, she hesitates to take it and then a growl that shakes me to my core and the word “MINE,” hits my ears and I turn my head and that’s when the most delicious scent swirls around me and I blink at the god that stands a few feet from me and my wolf jumps up and down like a puppy and howls, “MATE, MATE, MATE!”

My eyes widen as I stare into the most beautiful blue eyes I’ve ever seen, his short red hair is neatly cut on the sides and longer on top, clean shaven and his body is magnificently sculpted in his tailored blue suit.  He smiles at me and my heart skips a beat as I feel the bond snap into place.  I can’t hear anything but my own blood rushing through my ears as he takes long strides directly towards me and my feet move on their own towards him.  I blink my eyes as I feel the tears well in them and then his low baritone voice speaks, “You’re breathtaking,” he sticks his hand out to me, “may I have this dance mate?”

I can’t help the smile that forms on my face as I place my hand into his and the sparks ignite and travel up my arm, “I’d be honored,” I tilt my head, “do you have a name or should I just call you Mine.”

He chuckles, “I like that,” he places a soft kiss on the back of my hand, his eyes never leaving mine, “Killian, Beta Killian from the Dark Forest pack to everyone else.”

He walks me to the dance floor and pulls me flush to his chest, “my little goddess, do you have a name?”

My cheeks heat up and that’s not all he has heated up and I can’t think of my own name as I blink up at him.  His smile is perfect, and his scent is intoxicating, my knees go weak when my brother’s voice enters my head, “Ava what’s going on, is someone claiming Teresa.” 

I smile at the God holding me in his arms, “Ava, but I do like that nickname you’ve just given me,” I flutter my lashes at him.  I throw up a block in my mind because right now I don’t care what happens to the rest of the world as long as my mate holds me close to him.

He says my name, “Ava,” and butterflies erupt in my tummy, and I don’t know how he just made my name sound like the sexiest word in the universe.  He smiles, “your name is almost as beautiful as you are.”

I don’t know what I did to be so blessed with this godike man but whatever it was, I’ll do it again and again just to have him look at me as he is now.
