Chapter Sixty-Nine

School had started again and I was not particularly thrilled. The three hedge hogs in their skimpy outfits were around and I was glad I wasn’t going to see Venus’ face in detention anymore. But something was off about them. They seemed a bit different. Weird different. I wasn’t going to look into that because that would mean looking for trouble and I already had my fair share of trouble for the year. I did however maintain an intimidatingly long eye contact when they stared my way.

I had that ‘talk’ that Derrick asked for, a day ago. He apologized for his outburst and everything. He said he was acting up because his mom fell sick and his dad was working late just to avoid going into a house without his mom in it, so he felt neglected and alone. I felt really bad for abandoning him at such a rough time in his life, but I did not even know all of this was happening to him. He said his mom was doing much better now and she’s back home.
