LOGINThe young man standing behind Don Viti looked like Massimo not similar not merely familiar. He had the same sharp jaw, dark eyes, and straight nose. Even the small scar above his left eyebrow mirrored the one Massimo had carried since childhood but while Massimo stood with the weight of his responsibilities in his eyes, this stranger looked at us with the cold satisfaction of someone who had spent years imagining our downfall he kept his gun trained on Kelvin “Hello brother,” he repeated
Kelvin stared at him, unable to speak Massimo stepped in front of me despite the pain in his chest “Lower your weapon”
The stranger laughed “You still think you can give orders to everyone don't you?”
“Who are you?”
Maria answered before he could “His name is Adrian”
The young man glanced at her “That's the name you gave me when you thought I wouldn't survive”
Her face crumpled “I was told you were dead”
“You were told what you wanted to believe”
“I searched for you”
“No” His voice sharpened “You searched until it became inconvenient. Then you went home to your husband and raised the child they gave you in my place”
Maria shook her head “I didn't know they had switched you”
“But you knew there were two babies”
“I was recovering from childbirth the doctors told me one of you had died”
“And you never demanded to see the body?”
The question silenced her I looked at Massimo. His expression had become unreadable, but his good hand tightened around his gun “Adrian” he said “if you're our brother why are you pointing a weapon at Kelvin?”
Adrian finally turned toward him “Because your family owes me a lifetime”
“Then take it up with me”
“Everything has always been about you, hasn't it? The favored son the heir the man everyone bows to” Adrian's smile was bitter “Even now, you stand in front of me as though you're entitled to decide who lives and dies”
Massimo didn't move “I didn't choose how we were born”
“No, but you benefited from it”
Adrian stepped closer to Kelvin “He grew up believing Alessandro was his father you grew up believing you were the rightful heir. Meanwhile, I was raised by strangers, told my mother had abandoned me, and taught to survive in a world where nobody cared whether I lived or died”
Kelvin's expression shifted from shock to anger “You think I asked for any of this? I didn't know you existed”
“Neither did I, until Dante found me”
At the mention of Dante, Don Viti's eyes narrowed I noticed it immediately “You knew Dante had found him” I said
Don Viti looked at me “Of course”
“And you kept it secret”
“Some truths are dangerous when revealed too early”
“Or useful when kept hidden” I replied
His expression hardened Adrian lowered his gun slightly, though he never took his eyes off Kelvin “Dante told me everything. He showed me the hospital records, the payments made to the doctors, and the letters Alessandro wrote after he discovered the switch”
Massimo's face changed “Letters?”
Adrian reached inside his jacket and removed a folded envelope “Your father knew I was alive”
Maria covered her mouth “He knew” Adrian repeated. “He found out years later he sent people to look for me, but Don Viti made certain they never found me”
Every eye turned toward the older man Don Viti sighed as though we were discussing an unfortunate business decision “Alessandro was becoming unstable he wanted to bring an unknown child into a dangerous organization and hand him control of everything”
“You mean his biological son,” Adrian said
“I mean a child who had been raised by strangers and could not be trusted”
Adrian's expression turned murderous “You didn't know me”
“I knew enough”
“You knew nothing”
The shout echoed through the chapel. For the first time, I saw something beneath Adrian's anger that looked like pain he had spent his entire life believing he had been unwanted now he had discovered that his father had searched for him, but someone had deliberately kept them apart. That didn't make his actions right It did, however, explain why revenge had become the only family he knew “Give me the letters” Massimo said
Adrian looked at him “Why?”
“Because if Father knew you were alive, I deserve to know what happened”
“Deserve?” Adrian laughed “You have no idea what that word means”
He pulled one letter from the envelope and threw it at Massimo's feet Massimo bent to retrieve it, but the movement reopened his wound. He caught himself against the altar, his face tightening with pain I moved toward him “Massimo, stop”
He shook his head and picked up the letter the handwriting was unmistakably Alessandro's. He read the first few lines in silence then his fingers tightened around the paper “What does it say?” Kelvin asked
Massimo looked up “Father wrote that he had discovered the hospital records were altered he believed one of his sons had been taken and replaced with another child”
Maria began crying again “He wrote that he intended to bring the missing boy home” Massimo continued “But he was afraid someone inside the organization would use the truth to start a war”
Adrian's face remained hard “He was afraid of losing his empire”
“He was afraid of losing his family”
“Then why didn't he come for me?”
Massimo had no answer Adrian's gun rose again “Exactly”
Kelvin stepped forward “If Alessandro wanted you home, then Don Viti was the one who kept you away. Why are you threatening me?”
“Because you were given the life that should have been mine”
“I didn't take it from you”
“But you lived it”
Kelvin's jaw tightened “I didn't know you existed I can't apologize for something I never chose”
For a moment, Adrian looked as though he might lower his weapon then Don Viti spoke “Enough of this sentimental nonsense. We have a decision to make”
He moved toward the ledger “The organization needs a leader the council will never accept three heirs, and they certainly won't accept a family divided by secrets. One of you must step aside”
Massimo laughed without humor “You arranged this entire mess, and now you want us to choose which brother to sacrifice?”
“I want stability”
“You want control”
Don Viti's expression turned cold “Be careful, Massimo. You're in no condition to challenge me”
Massimo raised his gun, though his injured arm trembled “And you're in no condition to survive what happens if you touch my family again”
Before Don Viti could respond, a phone rang Adrian glanced at the device in his pocket. When he answered, I heard a man's voice speaking rapidly on the other end Adrian's expression changed “What do you mean, he escaped?”
He listened for several seconds, then ended the call Don Viti frowned “What happened?”
Adrian turned toward him “Dante is gone”
The words sent a ripple through the chapel “Gone where?” Massimo demanded
“Nobody knows his men found his safe house empty. The guards are dead, and every document he kept about the Livoti family has disappeared”
My stomach tightened Dante had known about the switched babies. He had manipulated Maria, threatened Kelvin, and used the truth to turn the family against itself.
If he had disappeared with the evidence, we might never discover what had truly happened then Adrian looked at me “There is one more thing you should know”I didn't like the way he said it “What?”
He removed another photograph from his jacket and held it out the image showed Dante standing beside a woman outside a hospital. The woman wore a dark coat and held a newborn baby in her arms I recognized her immediately Maria but the photograph was dated twenty eight years earlier, and the baby she held had a small mark near his left shoulder.
The same mark Massimo carried I looked from the photograph to my husband “That's impossible” I whisperedMassimo stared at the image Adrian's voice dropped “Dante didn't just discover the truth about our births. He was there when the switch happened”
Maria shook her head violently “No he wasn't there. I never saw him at the hospital”
“Perhaps not” Adrian replied “But he knows which baby was taken and he knows why”
He turned toward Don Viti “And now he's gone to find the only person who can prove it”
Don Viti's confidence finally cracked “Who?”
Adrian smiled without warmth “The doctor who delivered us”
Before anyone could speak, the chapel doors burst open one of our guards stumbled inside, carrying a bloodstained phone “Massimo” he gasped “We found a message from Dante”
He held out the device the message contained a photograph of an elderly man tied to a chair in a dark room. Beneath it were six words.
THE DOCTOR WILL NAME THE REAL HEIR.A second message appeared before I could finish reading the first.
BUT ONLY ONE OF THE THREE BROTHERS WILL LEAVE ALIVE.Then the phone rang the caller's name appeared on the screen.
DANTE.Massimo answered for several seconds, nobody spoke. Then Dante's voice came through, calm and almost cheerful “Hello, Massimo I hope you've met your missing brother”
Massimo's grip tightened around the phone“What do you want?”
“Bring Adrian to me before midnight”
“And if we refuse?”
Dante laughed softly “Then your brother Kelvin will die”
Kelvin lunged toward the phone “Dante you coward!”
But Dante ignored him “There's something else, Massimo something your mother has been too frightened to tell you”
My husband went still Dante's next words made Maria collapse against the altar “Adrian isn't the only child Alessandro had outside his marriage”
The call ended and slowly, everyone in the chapel turned toward me.
Aria's POVThe call ended, but I couldn't move .y stepfather's words kept echoing in my head Alessandro Livoti wasn't your father. I looked at Massimo, then at the other men in the room my eyes finally settled on Don Viti, who stood beside him"Who is he talking about?" I whisperedNobody answered.I tightened my grip on the phone. "He said my real father is the man standing beside Massimo."Massimo slowly turned toward Don Viti Don Viti's expression had changed. The confidence he had carried since entering the chapel was gone. For the first time, he looked like a man who had been caught hiding something."Is it true?" Massimo asked"Massimo, listen to me""Don't tell me to listen answer the question"Don Viti glanced at me "I knew your mother""Everyone keeps saying that" I replied "But nobody tells me anything useful did you know her before I was born?"He remained silent that was enough to make my stomach twist "Did you have something to do with her disappearance?""No""Then why do
Aria’s POV The room fell silent every eye turned toward me. For a moment, I couldn't understand why Dante's words kept repeating in my head Adrian isn't the only child Alessandro had outside his marriage. I looked at Massimo, expecting him to dismiss the accusation Instead, he was staring at me with an expression I had never seen before.Confusion then suspicion "Why is everyone looking at her?" Kelvin demandedMaria stood beside the table, one hand pressed against her chest her face had lost its colour "Maria," Don Viti said quietly. "What does he mean?"She shook her head "I don't know""You're lying" Adrian snapped he still held his gun, though it was now pointed toward the floor "You have been lying to this family for years why should we believe you now?""Enough!" Massimo orderedHe stepped between Adrian and Kelvin despite his injury, he refused to sit down. His shirt was stained with blood, but his attention remained fixed on his mother "Mother, look at me Is there something y

Aria’s POV“Now turn the page” Don Viti ordered “And discover which brother was born to kill the other”Massimo stood beside me, his injured arm pressed against his chest. The gun in his good hand remained trained on Don Viti, but I could see the strain in his face he had lost blood, endured an ambush, and learned that the family he trusted might have been built on lies. Now we were being asked to believe that his own brother was destined to destroy him I looked down at the ledger the two names stared back at me.Massimo LivotiKelvin LivotiBeneath them, the sentence about one son ruling and the other destroying the family had been written in dark ink. There was no explanation, no signature, and no proof that the words meant anything beyond a threat “I won't read another word until you tell us what this is” I saidDon Viti's expression hardened “You are in no position to negotiate”“Then shoot me” I replied “But if you want us to believe you, give us something more than a sentence wr
Aria’s POVMy mother screamed my husband's name for one terrifying second, I couldn't move. The television had gone black, the gunshot still echoed in my ears, and Massimo sat frozen on the bed with his phone slipping from his fingers Kelvin. The gunshot had come from the corridor where Lorenzo had taken him. “Massimo!” I grabbed his shoulders “Look at me”He barely seemed to hear me his eyes remained fixed on the dark screen, his face drained of colour. The revelation about his birth had shattered something inside him but the gunshot had left him with a more immediate fear his brother might be dead. “I'm going to find him” he said swinging his legs over the edge of the bedI pushed him back “You can barely stand”“Get out of my way Aria”“No”His expression hardened “That's my brother”“And you're my husband! If you walk into that corridor bleeding, Lorenzo won't need to shoot you you'll collapse before you reach him”He looked at me as if he wanted to argue but the pain in his chest
Massimo’s POV“Tell your sons the truth before I do” Dante's voice filled the darkened room through my mother's phone“Tell them which one of them is not Alessandro's son” For several seconds, nobody moved Kelvin stood near the door with his gun raised, listening Aria remained beside my bed her fingers wrapped around mine my mother sat frozen in the chair, staring at the phone as if it had become a weapon pointed directly at her heart I had faced armed men without flinching I had watched people die and ordered things I would never speak about in polite company yet nothing had prepared me for those words “Mother,” I said quietly “What is he talking about?”She ended the call “It's a lie"“Then look at me and say it again"Her eyes lifted to mine but she couldn't hold my gaze Kelvin lowered his gun slightly “Which one of us is he talking about?”“Both of you are my sons”“That wasn't the question”“Kelvin please”“No!” He slammed his palm against the wall “Our father is dead Dante is tr
